Chapter 217: Serpentine Devil's projection.

The resistance was an organization that no one except the highest-ranking authority in the magician world knew about, not even the children of the four great families. Elliot didn't know about it, either. However, Theodore was a part of it, so were the inhabitants of the world he came from years ago. Lastly, no one, including the person in question, knew that Elliot possessed the mark of the resistor, a type of identification number that already made him a part of the resistance!

"As a member of the resistance, I am willing to give up my life for the cause." One of the four elders' said. He had long, white hair. Accompanying his elderly features was a beard and a mustache of the same color shaped like a bull's horn. He had a hunched back, but the aura of a king surrounded him, making him look no less than a majestic person.

"I believe the same goes for the rest."

His gaze landed on the three elders opposite to him.

The three elders nodded, and one of them said, "Although he is not the child of providence, the one who was chosen by planet Lorena's continental will, he is by means no worse than him. Saving him and making him become a member of the resistance would be worth our sacrifice."

"You can count this old man in too." The third elder said, "It's been a long time since I last exercised by sore muscles."

The four elders looked at instructor Leonardo and said in a calm, unshaken voice, "Lord of Twilight, you're the one leading us. Whatever you decide, I will follow without any hesitation, even if that means stepping straight into a pit of fire."

"Good!"

Instructor Leonardo smiled and then looked at the projection of the ongoing battle on the screen once again.

They weren't sure about it, but the thing was, Elliot, didn't need their help.

Inside the ancient settlement of the soul race and in the center of the eternal snow zone, Tyler Barnes chanted the lines necessary to activate the ritual and summon the serpentine devil.

"Great Serpent of Endless Vitality, the cause of all plague and the harbinger of devastation, hear the call of your pious believer and lay your gaze on me."

From the chant, Elliot managed to determine that vitality and poison were two of the evil god's divinity. Although Elliot wasn't sure what divinity was, concluding that it was something closely related to the power of blessing others wasn't hard for him. The serpentine devil was able to bless because it possessed divinities. Is there a way to steal them? Elliot wondered as he silently waited for Tyler to finish chanting.

Tyler Barnes didn't say any other words as if waiting for something to happen. A couple of seconds after he had finished speaking the first verse of the demonic chant, an overwhelmingly intense pressure descended on Elliot and the beasts behind him.

The pressure was so intense that the beasts nearly kneeled. As Elliot looked at that, he couldn't help but say, "Fall back."

He didn't want to involve others in the upcoming fight, and it would be troublesome if he had to protect them while fighting the serpentine devil's projection, so he ordered them to go away. Oliver Charlotte and the beasts could tell that something terrible was coming and that they would get squashed to death if they stayed here, so they went away without questioning Elliot's decision.

"Are you going to be fine alone?" Grace asked.

Lucy, too, was looking at Elliot with a concerned expression. Even though he was so strong that he surpassed her wildest imagination, the terror of the serpentine devil still eclipsed the legends Elliot had performed so far. So, she couldn't help but worry about him.

"Yes," Elliot nodded his head.

"Now, go away and wait for me." He added.

Grace flapped her wings, charging to the opposite side. Elliot, on the other hand, took away his cage. It transformed into hundreds of thousands of units of the essence of life, and he reabsorbed them. Currently, he has 800000 units of the most significant energy in the universe in his body!

Plop!

The moment Tyler Barnes felt the "gaze" of the serpentine devil, he dropped to his knees.

"My God, the holiest existence of all, I offer you my soul and flesh and all the things in my surrounding. Please descend on this world, use the body of this slave as you will, and teach this mortal that stands in opposition of your ideals a lesson." Tyler Barnes finished the demonic chant while glaring daggers at Elliot. He would've had indeed killed Elliot if looks could kill. Those words had just left his mouth when the ritual circle beneath the last barrier's crystal brightened in a crimson hue. Then, it expanded outwards, covering 5km of land in the blink of an eye.

"I accept."

A powerful voice sounded between heaven and earth, shaking the internal organs of all the beasts below the Elite Spirit Level.

The voice couldn't hurt Elliot, though, as he used the essence of life to strengthen his body internally. Golden energy orbs had surrounded all of his organs in a defensive shield that was going to be hard for even the serpentine devil to break. Outwardly, layers after layers of thin, skin-like golden energy wrapped his body, increasing his defense by a hundred if not a thousand times.

"Get ready to pay the price of your arrogance." Tyler Barnes smiled. He could feel it—the descend of its God!

A vast suction force came out of the ritual circle. Everything unable to resist it started sinking into it, vanishing who knows where. Thousands of corpses disappeared, along with the blood that marred the land.

"What a strong pressure." The suction pressure was so great that if it was any typical magician in place of Elliot, they might've also gotten sucked inside of the circle. "Thankfully, I sent the beasts away, or else some people would've lost their lives unnecessarily."

Ding, ding, ding!"

Elliot's eyes narrowed as bell chimes sounded in his surrounding, and a change started to take place in Tyler Barnes!
