334 Perfect Test Subjects

CHAPTER 334

Although she would not kill her, she intended on using Astrid to make Isadora reveal where her kingdom was so she could take back her son's body.

In actual truth, both queens were ladies who had lost so much to the war. But Isadora lost the most, having to spend years away from her family and people and give her newborn away.

Could life be anymore crueller than this?

She still felt the emptiness deep within and could only wait and hope for when she would be free.

She was a mother who lost the chance to be one to her daughter. She knew if Eric was still alive, then all these would not have happened.

Her heart burned with so much sorry at that moment and a pain she had tried to keep at bay all these years came flooding back in as the loneliness enveloped her again.

Silently, she began to weep, letting her tears drop as her pain washed over her.

Marceline and Kaia did not know what was happening to her since she had her back to them. A few breaths later, Marceline broke the silence.

"Kaia, let us go. I think my warning was clear enough."

Together, both mermaids swam away, leaving Isadora to herself and her crazy thoughts. Unknown to them, the fairy queen was too hurt to bother with the likes of them. They had made her open a closed wound or a forgotten wound.

She missed her mother so much and how well she still regretted not going back that day to greet her.

She missed all the times she trained with her mother and how she taught her so many things. Or was it the father and mother bond she shared with her parents and the times they shared as a family?

Name it, Isadora missed every single thing and more.

She missed Eric so much, she missed not watching over his body as he laid in the ice coffin she made for him.

She missed looking at his handsome face and once in a while, taking her hands through the ice coffin to feel his lovely blue hair. The ones she had come to cherish.

She missed everything about him. The way he called her name, the way he played with her hair, his golden-brown hair as he called it.

The way she felt being held in his arms. The feel of his lips on hers, his every sweet and sensual kisses, everything about him.

Though their love wasn't written off as forbidden since their kingdoms were at peace with each other, that did not still make Isadora feel that they were not given a fair chance at life to live and enjoy their love and have more children just like Astrid.

"Wait. Astrid."

Her eyes fluttered open at the thought of her daughter.

That was when she recalled what had brought all these commotions in the first place.

Enemies were in her territory. They had come.

The only difference this time was that she recalled she placed same outside her kingdom, towards the outskirts of the sorcerer's land and since her kingdom was nowhere to be found, then it meant they could not access the landmark she placed close to it but the one at the forgotten land of war.

This further amplified her fear, enemies had gotten close and what was worst was that they were after her daughter.

She could sense that it was not one or two, but troops. She did not know exactly which race it was but the fact that they were soldiers was enough reason to worry.

Earlier on when Astrid had passed, she had felt it but it was more of the land welcoming her than it ringing danger and her magic landmark was not affected because she was not an enemy.

She only knew she was close when she started using her powers. She had begun trying to transmit her magic into vibrations, causing waves that would hopefully travel towards the nearest river close to her daughter and alert her.

She wished Nerissa was with Astrid as she would notice her signal and know she was trying to warn them.

But now Marceline had calmed the waves and ruined her plans.

"I need to warn Astrid, send a signal or something to her. She is in danger." She looked around first, making sure the troublesome queen and princess were away before she started her plans.

Secondly, she knew her vibrations would work and would make Marceline come over, making her the perfect test subject for her plan.

That was when she had tried to see how her voice would be carried by the water even though she was not a mermaid.

Luckily it worked well and although she was imprisoned, her magic was still very strong.

"Thanks for being my perfect test subject, Marceline. If I can affect you, the strongest mermaid, meaning I can do more and warn Astrid."

Meanwhile, Prince Terrence and his troop decided to take a rest before charging forward and catching up to Astrid but the terrain was quite difficult to understand as twenty years ago, that was not the sight waiting to be seen.

On the other hand, Jareth who had decided to let them rest for some minutes before they continued on their journey suddenly saw something that caught his attention and excused himself.

"I am coming, Astrid. Let me scout the area while you all rest. I thought I saw something."

"Let me come with you."

"No. Rest. I will handle it. If it poses a threat, I can handle it."

She still wanted to argue but Nerissa made her stop. "Aunt Nerissa, if it is any beast, I can handle it."

"Let him go, Astrid. You rest. You need your strength even more. You know your endurance hasn't been built very strongly yet."

Resigning her fate, she said, "Okay you go, but be safe." She turned her head to look at Jareth and he gave her a smile then ran off.

'I thought I saw thunder fly past just now. Why is he here all of a sudden?' Jareth thought and continued to run in the direction he saw the bird fly past.
