320 Delay: Daylight Robbery

CHAPTER 320

Terrence did not think these two people, Clive and Katrina could be any more shameless n they already were that they were asking for compensation.

And honestly, he was not about to give them anything when they were not of much help to him about the whereabouts of Astrid and Jareth.

He trailed his gaze over each one of them before coming to land on Terrence and nodded at him. "Give them 300 pieces of silver."

"Hey, we are not beggars and are not in need of your money."

"Then what do you want?" Terrence irritation was growing stronger by the minute and he just could barely contain it with them. "It is what I have I can give and it Is not like I am carrying silk and food items on me to present to you."

"Oh no, you said the right words and I know just what you can offer us that would not cost you and would be of immense use to us all."

"Spill."

Clive's lips curved up into a breathtaking smile as he darted his gaze at Katrina before returning it to Terrence.

Watching the knowing stares between them, Terrence knew that whatever it was that they were going to ask was something that he would definitely into life not ever like.

"Give us your weapons."

"What!"

***

In no time, Terrence was back on his horse and chasing after Astrid and Jareth, heading in the right destination he knew about.

'Just you hold on, hybrid. I would make sure you pay for all the stress everyone and every soldier had to go through.'

Terrence wasn't happy one bit and that could be seen from his face as he did not even try to hide the fact that he wasn't happy.

The negotiation he had with Clive before going had only turned his sour mood into something much worse than this.

Aelfdene noticed the terror look on his face and tried to rise close to him to catch up to him.

"My prince."

"Hmm." That was the only word full and wordless reply he got from the angry prince.

"Shouldn't we have stood our ground about the gift? It was really too much you know."

Aelfdene aired out his view on the issue as he tried no tot speak against Terrence's words back there so he wouldn't sound disrespectful.

Terrence did not reply and once more thought back to the scene that turned his mood sour.

*Flashback*

Oh yes, Terrence was more than right in figuring out that whatever it was that Clive and Katrina wanted, would definitely not be what he would like.

And just like that, their unruly demand reverberated in his ears and mind as his he rode on.

He was angry but what could he do and giving his position, it would be embarrassing if word got out that the elven prince was so stingy as not to gift a village that rendered help to him and that would, in turn, spoil his and his kingdom's reputation within the humans.

How could they ask for their weapons when they knew they were on a journey and it was a dangerous one with various wild beasts lurking around?

"Surely, our benevolent elven Prince can spare us a few weapons to help guard our village against beasts," Katrina chipped in and joined the motion, as if on cue.

Was there no end to their shamelessness? This was broad daylight robbery! They should have just asked for them to guard the village then.

"Oh mighty prince, do not tell me this little favour is too much to do when you have so many already." Sabrina quickly joined in and tried to coarse Terrence.

It wasn't working but they were not giving him any room to reject their offer now.

"And why should I sacrifice my soldier's weapons just so you could protect yourself." His question had caught them off guard but definitely not Katrina.

She knew he would try to play his way out of this but considering she wanted to stall him, she would pester him on it till he gave in.

"Oh come on!"

"Your village is not under my kingdom or any Kingdom at all from the look of things, so?"

"If that is the case, then your conscience should let you give and help us since we welcomed you and let you into our home."

'Look at them saying welcomed as though they had brought us in and prepared a sumptuous meal and a place to rest for us. Even if they had done, giving their support for the hybrid, I would refuse squarely. Who knows what their gift would contain?'

Fearing the kind of Trojan gift they could offer and the main reason for such an absurd request, Terrence asked Aelfdene to give them 10 swords and 5 spears.

"Thank you my prince, but even you know that those can barely do anything in protecting a village," Clive said with smiles full on his face.

"Then make it 20 swords and 10 spears."

"I believe you can do better, my prince," Katrina stated.

These bootlicking humans!

"Fine, give them 25 swords and 15 spears. Take it or leave it. I have my soldiers to think about too."

"Ahh, we are indeed grateful. We would remember this day and sing of the kindness of the elves."

"Whatever. I hope not to cross paths with you again," Terence muttered to himself and gave his approval to Aelfdene with a nod.

By the time they were done handing over everything, the day had already begun to get dark upon them and they were way behind time.

"HYAH!"

*Flashback Ends*

"I understand, Aelfdene. Let it be. We wasted time, yes but we checked and made sure she was not there. We would have to make up for it each day till we find her with a lesser amount of sleep."

"As you wish, your highness."
