CHAPTER 309

While all these was going on, Avery was focusing on her training with her father and King Regin could see a reasonable amount of improvement in her skills.

No longer was she panting heavily after a race with him and she could last more during a duel with him before she lost the fight.

On this particular day, they had duelled and trained for hours and Avery was getting tired.

Regin was amazed by her stamina growth. It was better than he had thought. He actually thought it would be a near impossible situation to achieve, since his daughter lacked patience.

What a surprise it was for him to find out that wasn't the case and she actually calmed down to learn.

'Sigh! I wish her motivation wasn't her brothers and something else. I wonder if she can love someone else with the way she is obsessed with them.' Regin thought.

He loved Avery but he could not deny the fact that the love between his children, even though their relationship has been sour was something else.

Avery looked like a crazed woman going after her lover when she tried to escape countless times.

Right there and then he thought it would be better to start finding her a match.

Someone who could cloud her mind and thoughts so she would stop her dangerous escapade with her brothers and be focused at home.

For crying out loud!  He gave birth to three boys and one girl, not four men!

Regin shookbhis head and let out a deep sigh before walking away.

After he moved some distance away feom where Avery trained, he looked up into the sky with narrowed eyes and hands clasped together at his back.

From the side, he looked like a King Monarch with lots of weight on his shoulders.

Indeed he dis have lots of issues to handle and his mind was at work every minute of the day.

Not to talk of the extra work he did I at night to make up for the hours he used to train his daughter during day time.

He was also constantly worried about his sons as till now there was no news from them. Nevertheless, he resigned himself to waiting patiently for their return and good news.

"Father, what is the matter?" Avery's voice broke him out from his train of thoughts and he immediately turned to look at her.

"Yes?" He archer his brows at her questioningly.

"Nothing. You just look so distant, like you drifted away."

"It was nothing. Nothing to concern yourself with my darling."

From his denial, Avery already knew what it was.

When it came to her asking her father about things, Regin always have things explained except on rare occasions when it involved her brothers, that he would keep it secret from her.

At times like this, she knew why he was like that when he said it was nothing.

He did not want to tell her so as not to get her riled up.

He couldn't say she was wrong but he did not want to let her know his true thoughts as well.

"Father," Avery probed again.

"It is alright. Nothing to bother yourself with Avery."

"With that expression on, how can I not be bothered? Why won't I be worried?"

"Please do not. I am only wondering about what they would be doing now."

"You already know, chasing the hybrid by now or they may have found her."

Regin shook his head before turning to face her. "I doubt it would be that easy to catch her. Each day her powers grow stronger and our chances grow thin."

"It would be okay, father. I believe brother would find a way out.  Just give it time. A few days perhaps and they would be riding back with good news for the kingdom."

"Yes. Thank you, Avery."

He gave a small smile to his daughter before letting his gaze wander above her head to where she was training before.

"Wait, who gave you the permission to leave your post?" His eyes dimmed with an untold fury and he stretched his hand to where she was training, pointing at the direction she once stood.

"Father, I..."

"Back to your training young Lady!"

Back when the soldier arrived bearing the royal decree for Owen, Evelyn was still cooked up in Cullen's bed, clearly exhausted from the vigorous activity both of them did.

So when Cullen was packing his things, she was too deep into her sleep for her to even notice what was happening, coupled with the fact that Cullen did everything carefully so as not to wake her up from sleep and left.

It was not until later in the evening that she managed to wake up from her sleep, only to find the room void of any of his belongings.

Even knowing this bit of fact did not help ease the pain in her heart one bit and after some days of brooding over her hurt and what had transpired, she knew that his heart would belong to only one person and that his lover.

She would forever be the girl who made him cheat and nothing more.

She accepted her fate as it was never to happen if not that she took hold of the opportunity at his weak moment and used it to her advantage.
