304 Katrina's Lecture

CHAPTER 304

That was it, their doom was sure because of her.

They so much wanted to plead with her to stop, even though they knew she was saying the truth but right now, they were not in any situation to air their views like she did and had to swallow it all.

"Rather than accepting your defeat like you should have done right from the third day, you schemed and cooked up a useless plan. I cannot tell you how glad I am that she escaped. I know her life would have been terrible if she ended up with you."

"KATRINA!"

"Yell all you want. I am the least affected by all your show. If you really were a man, you would accept the fact that's he did not want you and leave it at that, rather than stoop so low and do what you did. You did not disgrace yourself but the whole village as well."

She was speaking the truth and needed someone to remind him about his positions and role.

"You did not think for once about your action as the village head and the consequences or how it would look like for you to do it. Rather you used your power and influence to your advantage as you wished and did not care. Is that what a leader should do?"

For the first time that day, Clive could not reply and it was as though her words were actually hitting him on the right spot.

He never really thought about his actions as wrong and only did what he wanted.

"No Clive. For a girl you want, you should not behave like an animal to get her. Look at the elf, did he ever behave that way with her? How do you expect her to come to you or like you when you cannot respect her? Jareth did better than you. He is better, actually."

BANG!

Before anyone knew what was happening, Clive moved from his seat and the next minute, he had thrown the jug in front of him against the wall and had his back to them.

He then turned to look at them again. His eyes blazed with an untold fury this time around. Her words had really offended him and struck the wrong chord in his heart.

All through his tantrum, Katrina did not move an inch but instead stared him down. She had gone past the time of fear and knew that if she did not tell him the truth, no one will and the future of their village would be in peril.

He took a step and stomped his way over to her. Each step taken, brought with it a loud thud, portraying his rage further.

Katrina stood her ground and held his burning gaze with her own. It was time to teach this big bully a lesson.

"Do not ever compare me with the elf."

"Then start acting like a man and not a beast. Let her go and think about your people, those under your care. Take steps to become half of the man the elf is."

"Fine. I would prove to you that I can be better than the elf and be twice the man he ever would be."

"I want…"

"Clive, let her go. She never was yours to begin with. She was his. Go for someone else and in the right way. You do not love her, if you do, you would respect her wishes. You only lust after her, that was why I said if she ended up with you, she would suffer."

He inhaled deeply and shut his eyes. It was taking all he could to calm down and shove his anger to the back f his mind to think clearly.

"You are better than this Clive. I just wish you can see it for yourself. Be the leader you were meant to be and lead your people, better."

Slowly, he reopened his eyes and blinked at her. Her words were like a calming tea. It was what he needed. He needed someone who would tell him the truth, the hard and bitter truth.

He knew he couldn't compare to the elf in anything and anyway. And that bitterness got into his mind and he thought to take Astrid forcefully from Jareth.

Unfortunately, that was not the way to treat a lady. He still liked Astrid, but he finally came to his senses that she was long gone. And he would never have the chance to woo her.

Accepting his fate, he knew he should be grateful for the things he had and live on, that way.

"Thank you, Katrina."

"I knew you would come around." Her face lit up into a smile at his gratitude.

Without being told, Katrina knew it was a hard thing for him to do, let his rage and lust go and he would still think about Astrid but she was sure now that he would stop chasing after her.

It was the least she could do for the young Astrid that found love. She could only pray she and Jareth made up and enjoy their youthful days together and let their love blossom till eternity.

Even though Jareth withdrew himself, she knew he loved Astrid so much and probably more than Astrid loved him but he refused to show it.

She never knew why, but she hoped it would be okay.

The door to Clive's house opened and Katrina walked out of it with a straight expression on.

When Sabrina and Elena saw her, both ladies hurried over to where she was with an expectant and anticipated look in their eyes.

"Yes, how did it go, Katrina?"

"Did he agree?"

Elena and Sabrina asked almost at the same time.

"Hmm!" she sighed softly and stared lazily at the other women.

"Oh come on! For the love of God. Just tell us already. Yes or no?"
