289 Patience Is A Virtue...

"Your highness, please wait. Your Majesty," one of the soldiers greeted the king with a bow.

King Regin raised his hand to dismiss the soldier before he fivlxedbhos gaze to the angry little Princess standing at the center of the throne room.

"Avery." His voice came out soft with no hint of worry, anger or any emotions.

"Why did you leave your post at the training grounds?"

"Father, do you really think I would not notice you won't keep to your words?"

"What do you mean by that?"

"You promised you would train me, but all I have done for the past ten hours has just been breathing and the basics. And you left me there alone."

"What is wrong with the basics?"

"Father!"

King Regin waved his hand for the ministers with him to excuse them.

Quickly they bowed and exited the throne room, leaving Regin and his daughter alone.

As soon as the doors to the throne room shut closed, Regin stood up and made his way towards where Avery stood.

"There is nothing wrong in the training I gave you, Avery. Okay, if you do jot believe me and think you do not need it, then I would race you to the training grounds."

"What?"

"You heard me. Or should I make it the forest?"

"I do not understand. Why are we racing each other?"

"Go!"

Right before her eyes,  her father moved and a large gush of wind was left in his wake, leaving her to the wind.

Noticing that her father was serious, Avery raced after him, pursuing with all her might.

The ran for hours till they got to the Elven forest and when he got there, Regin stopped and waitedbfpr her to arrive.

By the time Avery arrived, she was a big mess as she bent dow, n, gasping for air while her father stood straight without any difficulty in breathing.

"This is just sick," Avery lamented between breaths.

King Regin looked at his daughter and shook his head. This was why he gave her that training, yet she abandoned it.

After about four minutes of catching her breath, Avery finally stood up straight to look at her father.

"I gave you that training for a reason Avery. You couldn't even pass me even when I did not run at tip speed. Secondly you lack patience, child."

"Patience is a virtue... "

"You do not have, Avery. Mastering your breathing would also help with your body's inner qi and help balance your system. I ran but I was not out of breath like the way you are. Focus, do things from the heart, patience, all these you need in your training. You are lacking in more ways than one. It is why you have never surpassed your brothers."

Avery's face twisted into a frown at her father's words.

"I am sorry, father."

"No, it is not your fault. You need special training to work on your patience and other things. I should have personally supervised your training as you grew up but too late for regrets now. I can sharpen you and teach you to make the beat of your skills.

"You mean every single word of it father?"

"You still doubt me?" Regin arched his brow at his order and shook his head.

'Oh Avery, for how long have you chased after him?' Regin said on his mind.

"I believe you, father. I am sorry for my short sightedness."

"Sigh, you have a long way to go, Avery. Anyways, let the training continue. We have lost quite some time because of you."

At her father's words, Avery lowered her gaze as she felt bad to have disappointed her father once more.

"Do not feel down. The love you have for your brothers is great. Use and channel your love to your training and be patient."

"I will, father. Thanks."

~OUTSKIRTS OF OUTLAWS VILLAGE ~

Up until this time, Cari was still sleeping at the place where Astrid and the others left him.

To him, he felt everywhere was still dark outside due to the enclosed wall Astrid made around him.

He had thought they were having a longer night and decided to rest well since he did not sleep on time.

It was not until he heard the chanting and shouts from the guards of the Outlaws village from afar that he got up.

He took some time for him to carefully analyzed his surrounding and familiarize himself with the strange view in front of him.

Everywhere was pitch dark with walls all round him, further enshrouding the darkness in it.

Caro knew this was not where he slept or it was where he slept due to the grasses around but the new imagery and walls we're totally different.

"Wait, Astrid!"

He looked around again and apart from him there was no one in sight.

Feeling the frustration kick in, Cari slammed his palm hard on the ground.

"That conniving elf! Dammit!"

At that moment he could hear the guards' voice drawing nearer and he knew better than to remain there.

Quickly he picked himself up and found his exit, a small hole enough to fit a human being towards where his leg was on the ground.

It was only blocked by bushes that was why he still could not see the light seep in.

'She had carefully planned this. Those two work good together, arrghhh and I hate it.' Cari thought to himself when he had gotten out from the nice cage Astrid built.

As he was outside, the warm rays of the morning sun shone brightly on his face further making him angry.

He was mad and filled with rage that the day had gone so far and yet he just got up.

"I can't believe I had her and just a little slumber took her away. How do I report this to her highness?"
