198 The God-like Merman

CHAPTER 198

"Grandmother!"

Astrid stretched her hand forward, trying to hold Leia and stop her from fading away, but her attempts proved futile as her fingers passed through the mist instead.

"Please don't go now. How do I find him, grandmother? Please," a tear slid down her cheeks as she watched Leia completely fade away. She clutched her hand tight together in front of her chest, letting the tears flow freely.

"He would find you. He is the dead you want to meet the most."

She heard Leia's voice echo in the surrounding and then faded like she wasn't there a moment ago.

'The dead I want to meet with the most? But Aunt Nerissa isn't a male. Then who could it be?' she thought to herself.

"How do I find him… in this heavens forsaken mist?!" she asked through gritted teeth and yelled, letting her powers rush out of her in a gush of wind and blue tight.

The blue light rushed upward and scattered the mist around her, leaving her panting as she vented her anger out.

Unfortunately, as soon as her path became clear, Astrid sprinted forward but before she could take further steps, everything closed back again.

"For heaven's sake. Where are you? How do I find you? I need answers, please," she cried out to the mist, hoping for a miracle like the first.

Seconds later, she saw another figure floating towards her. As the figure came closer she could see he was a man.

He was particularly naked from his waist upward, with long flowing light blue hair that stopped at his waist. He had a well structured chiselled chest and divine abs which would put most men to shame.

His upper body was already magnificent, his face was a great wonder, however. He was handsome beyond comparison. There was no being in their realm that could match this god-like beauty before her.

The mist did a good work covering him from his waist downwards, making Astrid wonder if he had somehow died naked.

Astrid gazed up at the figure before her in awe as he stood straight, suspended in mid-air.

"Are you a celestial being?" She asked him flatly, finally coming out of her stupor.

The man suspended in the air couldn't help the laughter that reverberated in his chest loud enough for her and their surroundings to hear.

It was at that time it dawned on her that she had asked something stupid. Of course, he wasn't a celestial being, he was dead. She shook her head at her stupid question and returned her gaze back to him.

"Then what are you?" she found herself asking, her curiosity was already peaked.

Rather than answer her, the god-like being ignored her question and moved closer to her, twisting his body as he went. When he got close enough, he went ahead to inspect her closely, making Astrid tense up at the sudden piqued interest he had in her.

Shocked, she stared at him closely. 'How does he know mother?' she thought to herself as she did her own assessment of him. 'Those blue eyes, he looks familiar somehow.'

"What did you do to your hair? What happened to my golden brown hair?"

'My? Golden brown… What is he talking about? Can't he see that I am not…' Astrid screamed in her head and let out a sigh, before speaking to him. "I am not Isadora."

"Clearly. She would never change the colour of her hair," he said, bringing his fingers to his lips as he tapped away.

"Then if you are not Isadora and you have a close resemblance to her, you are…"

"Her daughter," They said in unison.

His eyes widened as he stared at Astrid in shock. He scanned her from head to toe and his questioning gaze soon changed into a smiling one.

"Judging from your age, that means you are…"

"My daughter!"

"My father!"

Astrid could not believe her eyes, the god-like being before her was none other than her father. Was she lucky or what? She had the opportunity to meet her grandmother and now her father.

"If you are my father, then that would make you a…"

Right before her eyes, the mist covering him from his waist down dispersed immediately. Rather than seeing a pair of legs, she saw a thick, long blue tail.

"A merman!"

He did a twirl and moved in the air like a majestic being with both hands spread to his side before lowering himself to her eye level.

Astrid's face was full of astonishment and joy as she saw one of the magical beings for the first time.

'Mother must have had good charms to be able to catch the eye of someone like him.' Astrid thought, feeling thankful to be related to him.

"Did Isadora do so little to educate you about me?" he suddenly asked out of the blue, bringing her out of her reverie.

"She…" Astrid stopped speaking and lowered her gaze.

Sensing something was wrong, he moved in closer, his face inches away from hers. "What is wrong? What happened to her?"

His face fell as he could feel that something bad had happened, from just looking at Astrid's fallen expression.

"I… do not know. I grew up not knowing you and mother nor about my heritage."

His face was ashen with shock. He would never have believed that his own child would grow up like that.

"What happened after I died?" he asked softly.

"From what I was told, my grandmother died on the same day you died, she was killed by your mother, the mer queen and months later when I was born, the other races waged war on the kingdom."

"The realm is still at war."

"Yes and no."

He arched a brow at her reply, but before he could speak, she continued, "They all want one thing."

"And that is you."

"Yes."

Immediately, he placed his hand on her glabella and closed his eyes. After a minute, he opened them and gazed back at her with understanding eyes.

"I met grandmother a while back and she said you were the right person I needed to meet for answers to my questions."

"Hmm, I understand."
