One of the enemies was shot in the head and died on the spot, while the other two were hit in the chest and didn’t immediately die.

Wu Peng wanted to continue shooting to kill his enemies, but the gunshots had attracted the attention of the other members of Viper, so he quickly went back into the large pit to hide.

Several bullets shot past Wu Peng’s head, and he would’ve been riddled with holes if he’d hesitated just now.

He took out a small mirror from his pockets. He’d taken that with him in case he needed to fix his appearance at any time during the date.

Little had he known that it would prove incredibly useful later.

He lifted the mirror and observed the other party’s movements through the reflection.

The enemy seemed to be wary of Wu Peng, and didn’t dare to recklessly charge into the pit.

That gave him a little room to breathe.

He took out a grenade and pulled out the ring. He then waited two seconds before throwing it at the enemy.

A loud explosion immediately rang outside the pit.

But the grenade didn’t cause any casualties or injuries, as the enemy was too far away.

But it did greatly reduce the speed at which the enemies advanced.

That was enough for Wu Peng. He was afraid that the enemy would mindlessly charge forward together. If that happened, he wouldn’t be able to hold them off, even if he had two more arms.

Five minutes passed. Reinforcements would arrive if they could last five minutes more.

“Wu Peng, what’s the situation like?” Ye Wei was feeling much better after her short rest. She could at least sit up.

“Hehe, I thought Viper was made up of robots who don’t fear death, but it looks like they know fear. They’re all hesitating outside the pit, not daring to approach.” Wu Peng smiled boastfully.

Ye Wei saw how Wu Peng was still smiling despite their situation and couldn’t help but smile bitterly.

The two of them were still smiling when they suddenly saw a black ball fall into the pit. It hit Wu Peng right in the head.

“Grenade!”

Ye Wei let out a cry of shock. Wu Peng reacted quickly. He picked up the grenade and threw it out of the pit.

“Stop laughing. It almost became a tragedy.” Wu Peng quickly passed the mirror over to Ye Wei and instructed her to raise it out of the pit so that he could observe the enemy’s movements.

The members of Viper saw that their grenade had been tossed out. Knowing that the other party was still hiding inside the pit, they were prepared to continue throwing grenades inside.

Wu Peng wouldn’t let that happen. He abruptly peeked his head outside the pit and started firing bullets at them before they could take out their grenades.

The enemies who were taking out their grenades were instantly taken down, and the rest of them starting retaliating.

Wu Peng cowardly hid back into the pit.

Ye Wei’s eyes were filled with admiration. “Good movements!”

Wu Peng’s series of movements just now had been extremely fluid. She wouldn’t have been able to do that.

“Hehe, unfortunately, I won’t be able to use that move again. The enemies will be prepared for it the next time.”

“You’re smiling so happily. You must still have ideas in mind.”

For some reason, Ye Wei believed that Wu Peng had other tricks up his sleeves.

“Of course. I have many ideas left. Get the grenades ready. Throw one out every three seconds!”

Ye Wei immediately grabbed onto the grenades in her hands.

Wu Peng reloaded his magazine. He nodded at Ye Wei, and the latter immediately tossed a grenade out of the pit.

As soon as the grenade exploded, Wu Peng poked his head out of the pit again and pulled the trigger the instant he saw a human figure.

He then squirmed back into the pit to hide.

Just like that, Wu Peng had made use of the explosion as a cover and once again stopped the enemies from advancing.

Unfortunately, his advantage didn’t last long, and they soon ran out of grenades.

All they had left were a few stun grenades. However, the stun grenades wouldn’t be very effective in such a vast area.

“The reinforcements should be arriving soon! Try to contact them!”

Ye Wei immediately tried to call Daliu on her wireless communication device. However, all she heard in her earpiece was a wave of static.

“The enemy must be using a jammer. The communication device cannot be used.”

“We’re out of bullets and resources. Are we both going to die here today?”

Wu Peng smiled as he patted Ye Wei’s head. Ye Wei would’ve beat him up if he’d done that on an average day.

However, at this moment Ye Wei could only remain silent.

“As a law enforcer, it’s natural to die on the battlefield. Unfortunately, I dragged you into this.”

“Don’t be in a hurry to say your last words. Don’t give up until the very end.”

Wu Peng heard the enemy’s footsteps get closer and closer. He clenched his teeth and stood up, then pulled the trigger at the enemy closest to him.

The enemy immediately retaliated, and a shower of bullets flew past beside Wu Peng.

“Ssss!” Wu Peng suddenly felt as if his right arm had been stung by a bee.

His entire arm then became numb.

His past experiences told him that he’d been hit by a bullet, and he quickly squirmed back into the pit.

He lowered his head to look at his right arm. Sure enough, there was a bloody hole in his arm, and fresh blood was constantly pouring out of it.

Ye Wei saw that he was injured and quickly pressed onto the wound with her hand to slow the blow flow.

Wu Peng being injured meant that he could no longer stop the enemy’s attacks.

“Sigh, I didn’t expect to die here. However, it’s worth it if I can die together with such a beautiful lady.”

“Urgh, I am the captain of the law enforcement unit. They won’t kill me.”

The two of them looked at each other and couldn’t help but laugh.

Suddenly, they heard intense gunfire and the hum of a motor from far away.

“Listen! It’s the sound of the Gatling gun! Daliu and the rest must’ve arrived!”

Ye Wei was elated and kept shaking Wu Peng’s arm.

“Sss! Softer! Stop applying force on my wound.”

Wu Peng’s face was contorted with pain.

An intense wave of gunfire rang out outside the large pit. The members of Viper opened fire to retaliate, but they were completely powerless against the Gatling gun and armored vehicle.

The members of Viper only resisted the law enforcers for a few minutes before starting to retreat.

“Captain! Where are you guys?” Daliu’s loud voice rang outside the pit like a loudhailer.

“Quickly give Wu Peng treatment. Have the enemies been exterminated?” Ye Wei quickly replied. An instant later, a bunch of law enforcers rushed to the side of the large pit.

As the captain, Ye Wei immediately assumed the role of leader.

“There are still five enemies on the run.”

“Daliu, get some men and chase after them. Leave three people behind to take care of Wu Peng.”

Ye Wei continued pressing on Wu Peng’s wound after issuing her orders.

The law enforcers quickly retrieved the emergency medical supplies from the vehicle and helped Wu Peng disinfect and dress his wound.

After Wu Peng’s wound had stopped bleeding, they got him into the car and returned to the law enforcers’ base.

Wu Peng’s injuries stabilized after a doctor at the base tended to him.

Ye Wei had to remain in the hospital for observation, as she’d been hit by the impact of the explosion.

After resting at the base for a moment, Wu Peng suddenly became afraid that Elsa was probably worried about him, so he snuck out of the hospital and returned to his shelter.

Elsa saw that Wu Peng was covered in bandages and blood and immediately started bawling.

“Brother Peng! Didn’t you go on a date? Why did you end up like this? Did Ye Wei do this?”

“Haha, I’m fine. When we were on our date, we encountered Viper trying to snatch the fragments of the meteorite and fought a war with them. I accidentally got injured.”

Elsa saw that Wu Peng still had a smile on his face and cried even harder.

Wu Peng spent a great deal of effort consoling her and got her to prepare a meal as a distraction. Then, he accessed the shelter’s attribute interface.
