Chapter 241 - Day DCCLVI

After the usual routine, I didn't really have anything to do, except waiting for the comeback of Will and others. I ended up going for a little walk around the city, and soon just drifted away taken by my own thoughts.

I kept envisioning how Nadia would react if she was there, with me, on my plan to kill the orc boss. It usually ended with an argument, and I would lose that one. I got back to my senses in some part of the city I didn't know. It seemed like I wandered off quite a bit.

With ruins everywhere around me, I decided to test my new body. I punched few holes in the walls, threw some pieces of rubble, crumbled few bricks in my hands, then I jumped around, to see how high and far I can go. I needed some time to adjust, but it soon became really obvious that I got way, way stronger.

It looked like both my strength and speed could compete with his, and that was only part of what I had to offer. It rose my hope highly.

I went back to the city center, grabbed few snacks, but since it wasn't enough I ended up going to the cafeteria, and eating something more filling. After I wasted some more time, and evening finally came.

With the night approaching, the whole gang finally returned. I, alongside many other citizens, watched them walking in full glory, with carts filled with crystals. People seemed to really admire them.

I observed as they split the score, and sold their shares, then they split with a group made out of Biris, Ni, and Will heading over to the pub. I joined them.

- Welcome back.

- Peter! So you returned before us? - asked Boris and slapped me in the shoulder.

- I did - I slapped him back. - How was your hunt?

- Great, although not as good as the last month - he replied. - We were clearing of the cave, but not too much, so there were some additional crystals. By the way, Will told us you want to take over the spot.

- And he mentioned you have a way for us to hunt those bears - Sanders joined the conversation.

- How about we talk this over a beer? You guys are buying.

- Ok. But it better be something good - said Boris.

So we ended up in the pub, but there were no free tables for us since the whole place was just filled to the brim. Fortunately, there were few guys from Bratstvo, and Boris just kicked them out, half as a joke, half-serious.

- You are an asshole - I said sitting down.

- Those good for nothing shouldn't be drinking so much when I have to keep the roof over their heads for them.

- It's that bad? - asked Will.

- It's not bad, just... - Boris sighed. - They just could do more, but there is plenty of guys like that out there. They just want to drink, and fuck around, with no work.

- If you want to drink and fuck around, you need to earn it - added Sanders.

- Exactly - Boris immediately agreed. - Instead, they are just collecting 'enough', and always getting wasted here.

- You should work on the discipline of your guys - said Will.

- When? I'm always hunting those days with Nil, and Ilja is the only one out there I tryst, but he can't handle everybody by himself.

- Then promote somebody trustworthily - I proposed.

- To do that I need to be around for a while, but you guys keep pulling me out of the city. I hope we will stabilize our escapades somewhat, because I want to spend some time here, with my family.

- Let's hear what Peter has to propose, and then we might come up with a schedule, so everybody is happy - said Nil.

- Yeah, Peter. What you've got for us? - asked Will.

- Beer first.

Will sighed, and stood up, to buys us drinks, then returned with hands full of mugs. He put one in front of everybody, and then sat down, looking at me expectantly.

- So... I'm going to kill the orc boss.

- I thought that might come up sooner or later - said Boris. - I hope you realize at least a bit how stupid this idea is.

- I'm strong enough. I'll go alone, probably tomorrow, and spend a month there if possible, so you guys need a different spot, a better one preferably. I thought about it, and I think you should start hunting bears. There is a way to clean up the first grotto relatively easily. The ones outside you should be able to handle normally.

- If you think you are, then who are we to stop you - said Sanders. - I think you know exactly how risky it is, so there is no need to hammer it in your head.

- As much as I would like you to not go, I also can't stop you, so just tell us how do we hunt those bears - said Will.

I lowered my voice and leaned over the table, closer to them.

- With fire. Set up a few on fire, and then keep them clustered, but don't fight. Just run around. It's that simple. It might work even o the second group, but definitely don't go to the third. Those are too strong.

- Seriously? - asked Boris.

- I did it many times. It works, but you will need a bit of coordination. Plus, keep this tactic for yourselves, ok?

- Sure - Nil agreed. - So... This is your farewell?

- Yep. I'll be back in a month though.  Maybe sooner if I won't be able to keep up.

- I hope you are fucking right, and you really can pull it off - said Boris, and grabbed his mug. - For success, yours and ours.

We followed him.

- For success - everybody repeated.

With that drinking started. We just keep them coming until it got really late, and then we split to get some rest. Nobody got drunk. This much alcohol was way too little for our bodies. Thankfully, because I needed to be able to travel the next day.

The day came to an end with 8 572 905 points remaining on my account, and forty-two class points.
