54 A New Prototype?

It was a mystery to her how could Westeros send someone like Jake, a hot-headed person to Coral Bells to solve a case. Anger is not a problem, the main problem is his pea size brain and his childish personality. But it was incorrect to say too that he has a pea size brain. For Alyssa, he was not a suitable candidate to come to Coral Bells to do any spy work or anything like that. He was more suitable as a foot soldier whose only action is to attack and attack without thinking about anything else.

"Is he sitting on my favorite chair?" Noah exclaimed in displeasure. But before Alyssa could say something he rushed towards Jake and pulled the chair towards himself by force making Jake fall on the ground with a thud.

This scene before her eyes baffled Alyssa. She couldn't believe that a mature and calm Noah will get down to Jake's level and will start acting childishly too. Her mouth that had opened up due to shock remained so.

"What was that for?" Jake roared at Noah.

"You took the files too. And for your kind information, this is MY chair. Only I am able to sit on it." he huffed.

"Do you think I wanted to sit on this chair? It smelled like one of the mutts."

Excuse me!

Whatever. I have better chairs in my house back in my kingdom. Huh, who wants to sit on this useless broken chair.

Excuse me! It is brand new."

And thus, they started bickering back and forth. It was becoming too much for Alyssa to handle. She couldn't take this anymore. She walked towards them and cleared her throat to gain their attention, it was useless. She then cleared her throat harder; it was useless again. They were purposefully ignoring her. She knew it. She groaned in annoyance and slammed both of her palms on the table.

A hard wind stroke pushed both of them to the walls and the table that had just suffered a hit from her broke into pieces under her palm.

The little fight that was happening between Noah and Jake or more like the battering between them, soon ceased. They looked at Alyssa in horror. Before the table broke they surely had felt a huge blast of wind, but how is that even possible? They couldn't wrap their head around the situation.

Alyssa was shocked too. She thought that she could control her powers by now because even though there was emotional turmoil happening to her in the past few weeks, she hadn't experienced another power leak. She could sense her power growing stronger, but she thought that they will stop leaking out.

When Noah and Jake were busy gawking at Alyssa and wrapping their heads around the situation, Alyssa looked at her hand, she saw electricity crackling between her fingers. Thin lines of electric blue color were emerging between two fingers and from the tip of fingers too. Alyssa panicked a little and hurriedly put her hands behind her back. She closed her eyes to control her emotions and caressed her bracelet given by her nanny to feel the sense of safety and security. It always does the trick for her. Whenever she feels her emotions going all over the place and knows that her powers will now leak out, she gets hold of the bracelet to calm herself down and this idea had never failed her till now.

Alyssa soon calmed down and opened her eyes to look at them. Her sharp eyes pierced through them to find about anything that had gave away her secret.

She didn't find anything. She looked at Jake for the longest time because he was the stranger there. She trusts Noah with all her heart and would happily put her back towards him, knowing that he would protect it with his own life.

When she truly got nothing, she released a long sigh. It was better this way. Her secret is safe with her.

But she had to find an explanation for this, and that too very soon. She was thinking about solutions to this problem when Noah said, "Did you built another instrument for self-defense?"

Alyssa's eyes lit at Noah's word. If she could, she was willing to give a grand bow to Noah for providing the best and the most effective solution to her problem.

Noah too, never in his wildest dreams would have connected the dots. He couldn't phantom the idea of Alyssa doing magic. It was absurd for him or to anyone in their continent. Alyssa was a werewolf, for crying out loud, not a witch. And witches are killed as soon as they are seen and all the witches are held prisoners in the Dark Land with the help of magic, with an unknown source. The only werewolf they know about that had magic in her blood was Queen Aster. But it was a myth said to glorify Queen Asteria. None of them believe in it anymore.

And this is what Alyssa fears the most. If words get out of her being a wizard, a witch, someone that has magical bloodline, princess or not, she would be seen as an abomination. The whole continent will come together to kill her.

"Yes. Yes, this is some self-defensive thingy that I was working on previously. It is not complete and even its prototype has some problems. I have to fix this soon. Sorry that both of you got hurt. Alyssa said rambling. She took out any random piece of junk metal with some wires here and there attached to it, to show them. This would convince him, or as she thought.

"Wow!! Another cool idea of yours." Noah said in amazement.

"Yeah! I guess so, but it is not complete yet. Even its prototype needs serious fixation." She said tucking the random metallic junk into her pocket and feigning mock disappointment.

"Maybe I can see it and fix it later." Noah proposed.

"Sure!" Alyssa agreed.

But in her heart, all she was wishing was him to forget about this idea and this junk piece of metal that she had made her prototype.

She had to draw their attention towards something else, she thought.

"Files. Have you read the files yet?" she said picking the folder from the ground and blowing the wooden dust particles collected over it.

Jake was silent the whole time. He didn't seem impressed at the idea of this amazing prototype that Alyssa had created just a second now. Alyssa didn't focus her attention on him. She didn't care whether he was impressed or not. It was none of her business. All she needed was a cover, and thanks to Noah, she got one.

"Wait a second, how did you do it?" Jake asked out of blue startling Alyssa. Upon hearing his question, Alyssa's heart dropped to her stomach.

This is not the correct time to be interested in this Jake!!! She screamed in her heart.

"Huh, what?" she said

"How does your thing work?" Jake once again repeated his question. Alyssa actually had heard him clearly the very first time. She knew Jake hated repeating what he had said earlier, that's why she had asked him so. But to her surprise, Jake had repeated his own question that to very calmly.

No, no, no, no. this is not happening. How is she going to explain something that she has no idea of? Does she really have to make a false working mechanism instantly to shut him? She was at loss.

Alyssa thought hard for her explanation. She was rummaging through everything that she had learned so far, in her brain, to get some idea.

She looked at the patient face of Jake and then an impatient face of Noah and once again screamed in her heart. Help me once again Noah! Pretty please.

"Umm well… she dragged, the mechanism of this prototype is simple. It is so simple that we all have learned about in our elementary school. Can you guess it? " she asked Jake. Jake shook his head, declining everything. She then looked at Noah in hopes. Noah too shook his head startling Alyssa. If Alyssa would have her way, she would kneel in front of them crying and asking, "Why are you torturing me like this? I don't know, for Moon Goddess sake. Please let me be in peace."
