Chapter 90 - Maximum Affinity??

"No I am not." Alexander agreed.

"You might have suspected it by now, but I too, am a Scion Lord. I am a Scion of both Zegaro and Perses. The first of my kind." The Lich King said.

"Damn it, he was a Scion Lord too?" Alexander cursed in his heart. "No wonder he could resist my power!"

"Yes, I suspected as much." Alexander lied. He was not about to complicate things with this stupid Lich King who was spilling the beans.

"How then, could you destroy my powers so easily?" The Lich King asked. "We should be about equal."

Alexander increased his pressure upon the Lich King significantly, not bothering to answer him.

A giant black skull began to swirl around the Lich King once more and resisted Alexander's might.

"Unleash your true power once more. Without that, you would not be able to harm me at all." The Lich King straightened himself. His body had stopped smoking and even his robes were mending itself slowly.

He was regenerating. Fast.

Alexander frowned slightly. Without his 'Triple Scion' powers, finishing the Lich King who was a Scion Lord himself would be quite difficult.

The Lich King noticed his hesitation and nodded in satisfaction. "As I had suspected. It was not a power you can freely use. With it, you're unstoppable. But without it, my position is unassailable. Let this farce of a battle end. We know you only have one option available to you. Give yourself up, Scion Lord, or your beloved dies."

"Are you sure that your position is 'unassailable' if I don't use my secret power?" Alexander taunted the Lich King slightly.

"It is a fact." The Lich King shrugged. Seeing Alexander's face that was still full of confidence, the Lich King simply said, "Come."

"As you wish." Alexander raised his hand and pointed at the Lich King. Cold wind began to blow as the temperature around them plummeted.

Frost began to appear everywhere and everything began to freeze and explode. Alexander's Ice Energy was infused with his Power of Perses through the Crystal Sword and had gained a powerful explosive effect.

WHOOSH!!

The Lich King began to freeze as well. The black skull around him opened its mouth wide and tried to mitigate the cold by absorbing the ice energy. But as before, it began to dim almost immediately.

Alexander's energy was too explosive, and it had no way of effectively absorbing it.

The Lich King's eyes glowed red once more and his body ignited into flames. For a moment, it looked like the flames would sputter and die out immediately.

But somehow, The Lich King managed to keep it alive.

CRACKLE! CRACKLE!

The flames around the Lich King roared into a powerful conflagration and fought off Alexander's freezing field attack.

The massive heat from the Lich King's flames collided with the deep cold from Alexander's frozen winds and they began to swirl around, forming a giant tornado.

CRACK! BOOM!!!

A massive bolt of lightning fell upon the Lich King. If Dubaza was around to witness Alexander's lightning attack, he would be extremely shocked. Although Alexander did not have a Pure Lightning Body like him, Alexander's lightning contained a destructive power that was no less than Dubaza's all out attack! Every single element controlled by Alexander had received an explosive attribute from the Power of Perses that vastly increased their destructive power.

However, the black skull around the Lich King simply opened its mouth and absorbed the lightning bolt. Still, it was deeply encouraging for Alexander to note that large amounts of lightning were left unabsorbed and dealt considerable damage to the regenerating Lich King.

The flames around him began to dim slightly.

More! I need to attack him more! Alexander cried out in his heart.

CRACK!! CRACK!! BO-BOOM!!!!

Twin lightning bolts smashed down upon the Lich King savagely.

PUFF! PUFF!! SLITHER!!

Countless vines erupted out of nowhere and began to bind the Lich King. Many were burnt into nothing by the Lich King's flames, but many more succeeded in wrapping the Lich King's and began to squeeze.

CRACKLE!

The flames around the Lich King began to increase in intensity as the Lich King released all the power that he had.

A massive black skull swirled and coalesced into form. It quickly opened its mouth and tried to suck in all the energy around it.

However, the rate of its absorption was much slower than the amount of energy attacks which Alexander was pouring down on it.

The Lich King may match Alexander's Scion Lord power qualitatively, but it was rather far behind in terms of efficiency and utility. He could not bring all of his power to bear as quickly and as destructively as Alexander could.

GRAHH!!!

A massive golem rose from the ground near the Lich King and immediately gave him a deadly bear hug. With the addition of the golem, it appeared that the Lich King had finally reached his limit.

"STAND DOWN AT ONCE, OR THE GIRL DIES!" A deep, raspy voice suddenly sounded from the bundle of vines being hugged by a spiky golem.

"Kill her if you can. You will die before she does." Alexander replied coldly.

Blink. He teleported and stood before the Lich King.

Alexander gripped the Lich King's face with his large hands.

"Before you go, Lich, let me tell you a deep, dark secret. I am not a Scion Lord. I am more than that. You're a Scion of Zegaro and Perses? I am that too. But I am also a Scion of Magius." Alexander dropped the bombshell at the Lich King.

The Lich King was stunned. For once, he was at a loss on what to say or do.

"You can go rot in hell now."

Alexander began to squeeze hard.

CRACK!!

"WAIT!" The Lich King cried out from within Alexander's grip. But Alexander paid him no mind as he continued to exert his great strength.

CRACKK!! CRACKK!!!

The Lich King's face began to give way.

"KILL THE GIRL!! KILL HER NO-"

CRACK!!!!!!!

The Lich King's head shattered in Alexander's hand.

He didn't have the habit of interrogating those who sought the death of his loved ones.

CRACK!!!!

The rest of his body followed suit as the golem and the vines hugged the Lich King's body into pieces.

Alexander quickly squinted ahead and found that in the distance, Caerose and Aleyria were engaged in a desperate battle against the other three Scions of Perses.

WHOOSH!

Alexander teleported quickly to the location of the battle.

As soon as he appeared, Alexander released his power and gripped Vladir and the other two Scions in place.

"You escaped me earlier." Alexander said grimly to the struggling Vladir. "You won't this time."

"Wait! I-" Vladir began.

CRACK! SPLAT!

CRACK! SPLAT!

CRACK! SPLAT!

All three Scions imploded immediately. Pieces of bone and flesh still dripping blood and various other bodily fluids flew everywhere. The other two Scions didn't even get to say a single word.

"Aleyria!" Alexander turned around and immediately called out to his beloved. "Are you alright?"

"Alexander!!" Aleyria cried out in great happiness.

She leapt into his arms and hugged him tightly, hungry for him and his touch.

Alexander hugged her back with equal passion.

"I was so worried about you! I am glad you're okay…" Alexander whispered.

Aleyria could only nod her head slightly as she began to sob quietly, overcome with happiness.

Although surrounded by the ruins of the City of Rin, Alexander had never felt more at peace. His beloved was safe, and that was all that mattered to him.

*-*-*-*-*-*

"Why did you help us?" Alexander asked Caerose curiously.

They were seated in a small farmhouse a few miles out of Rin. It was the first building that they had found intact. It's inhabitants had left and evacuated to the various cities along the way to the City of Turah along with thousands and thousands of others.

The fact that Caerose had helped Aleyria fend off the other Scions during the final moments of the battle had proven to Alexander beyond all doubt that she was on their side, and so his question was not laced with any form of suspicion, but one which was born out of pure curiosity.

Caerose glanced at Aleyria, who was seated next to Alexander, sipping her tea quietly. Aleyria smiled at Caerose and nodded slightly, encouraging her to open up to Alexander.

Caerose sighed deeply.

"I was the one who captured her. And so I was the one who got to keep her. I placed her within a Dark Spatial Prison and placed that prison within a pocket dimension." She began.

"After the initial assault by the mages on the Wyverns, I retreated into a room to rest and to take a look at the prisoner I caught. I took her prison out of the pocket dimension. Alas… I had no idea that this young woman here is an absolute freak of nature. Within the short few hours confined in that Dark Spatial Prison, she had somehow developed MAXIMUM affinity with the Darkness element."

"WHAT?!" Alexander was thunderstruck.
