Chapter 24 - Heaven-Piercing Eyes!

Raymond's eyes were still a shiny golden colour, but an interesting change had occurred. Atop his golden irises, a purple hexagram, surrounded by weird runic symbols was shining with a peculiar light. Seeing his strange and almost demonic-looking eyes, Raymond was baffled. Although he had expected something to be different, this was a little too exaggerated, right? Taking a look at his status again, he focused on the Heaven-Piercing Eyes.

[Heaven-Piercing Eyes]

[The eyes of the Supreme Overlord. Allows the user to see through truth and falsehoods. Can channel soul power as a medium of attack or distraction.]

The eyes of the Supreme Overlord, who was that? Raymond had no idea, he had never heard of such a character, but considering the name, he was pretty sure it was someone extraordinary. Raymond wasn't completely sure how to feel about this talent yet. The effect seemed great, and it could certainly be one of his trump cards, but it was a bit too conspicuous.

Anyone who saw his eyes would either fall into a trance if they were too weak, or they would probably covet them. They were a pair of supreme eyes after all, which cultivator would not want them for themselves? If only he was a bit stronger, then he wouldn't need to worry about such things at all. Raymond felt like he was in a bit of a pickle.

There was no way he was just going to go outside before he could fix this. After looking around the status screen for a while, he concluded that there was no more information there for him, and there was no way to disable this talent he had been given. Even if he could disable it, he probably wouldn't want to do that either, his vision had become way better after all. This was a qualitative improvement that was hard to come by, and if he concentrated, he would probably be able to see the wings on a fly that was more than 20 meters away.

Since the description mentioned how soul energy could be used as a means of attack, Raymond tried to supply his eyes with some soul energy to see what would happen. To Raymond's surprise, his vision became even better, and he could even see some of the spiritual energy in the air, albeit faintly. This gave Raymond an idea, which he promptly decided to try out. He took out a bit of fabric from his backpack and promptly ripped off a piece of it.

After tying the fabric over his eyes, Raymond noticed that he could see through it faintly. His test wasn't over, however, as he tried to supply his eyes with some soul power. After they were supplied with soul power, Raymond could see through the piece of fabric as if it wasn't even there. His vision now was comparable to how it was before he received the Heaven-Piercing Eyes. To Raymond, this felt great, since he could hide his eyes without issues.

He would naturally not wear a blindfold when he was by himself or when he was out hunting and exploring, but when other cultivators and humans were near, he could put one on to hide his eyes. Although this was a pretty crude method, it was only a temporary measure. In many novels that Raymond had read, bloodline powers were highly sought after, and in some of them, bloodline powers could be transplanted into others.

Since he wasn't sure how it worked in this world, Raymond felt like it was better to not take any risks until he could make sure. Although the piece of fabric was enough to hide his eyes, for now, Raymond wanted to buy something that could hide his eyes a little better, and hopefully look a little more convincing. No one would be convinced if he told them he was blind when he only had a random piece of torn-off fabric covering his eyes.

When he was just about to leave, Raymond suddenly had another idea. The power of his eyes could be enhanced with soul power, and although he didn't know how to attack with them yet, he was sure that there was a way. The description told him that much after all. What Raymond had just thought off was something that wasn't stated in the description, but it was worth a try. The power of the eyes stemmed from soul power, and so did Raymond's sword force. What if he tried to channel his sword force into his eyes?

It was a pretty absurd idea, but since sword force was a power that came from the soul, it was worth a try right? Without wasting a second, Raymond sat down on his bed, eager to try it out. After closing his eyes, Raymond focused on the feeling of using his sword force and guiding it to his eyes. Without much success, Raymond was a little disappointed, but he didn't give up. Something he didn't think of was that he had always used sword force through a sword, to suddenly use it without one would obviously be hard.

Since that was the case, Raymond picked up his sword and tried once more. This time, the sword force resting within his soul was finally stirred and moved according to Raymond's wishes. After channelling the sword force into his eyes, Raymond focused on the cupboard in front of his bed, with the intent to attack. To his surprise, as well as his disappointment, the air in front of the cupboard was slightly stirred. Although the attack itself worked, it was practically useless.

Before he could feel defeated, Raymond realised he was still wearing the blindfold. Maybe it would be different without it on? After taking it off, Raymond tried the same move once more, and this time, the air stirred again. Compared to the first time though, this was way more violent as the air stirred and condensed into a wind blade that cut the cupboard. Although the cut was pretty small, it could definitely slit someone's throat unsuspectedly. Raymond found it hard to believe that it would work on a cultivator though, but he wasn't disheartened.

As long as he elevated his soul power and sword force, Raymond was sure that his eyes could become a lethal weapon in his arsenal. The more he used it, the more Raymond came to appreciate the sword force he had attained. Not only was it very lethal, but it was also very versatile. He would have to put even more focus on his sword practice in the future. In the two weeks it had taken him to come to Kredon, Raymond's cultivation wasn't the only thing that had a small breakthrough, his martial skills had also increased.

Not only had his Azure Wind Sword Art taken that small step to achieve perfection, but his Basic Fist Art had also reached the advanced realm. His Basic Footwork Technique was still stuck in the Advanced realm, but at least it had some small improvements.. The next step forward for Raymond would be to achieve the Transcendent realm in his sword art. And who knows, maybe he could even achieve a breakthrough in his sword force while he was at it?
