Chapter 448 - Mia's Bachelorette's Party (4)

Max and Andrea bickered some more like kids, and Andrea decided to leave.

"You are leaving the party?", Liz asked Andrea in disbelief.

Andrea glared at Max. "With him here, I don't feel like partying. I will see you tomorrow."

Liz looked after Andrea who disappeared in the crowd while heading toward the exit and Liz was not sure what to say.

And with that, their group of six ladies partying got reduced to five (with the addition of Max).

Liz was confused. Did Andrea come for the bachelorette's party, or for Liz? Liz didn't want to discuss this with Max because she would either make him anxious or he will get his 'I-told-you-so' moment. Probably both.

She held onto Max and they danced at their own tune while exchanging light kisses.

Liz smiled. The party was better with Max around. She was missing him. Everything is better with Max around.

She hoped that other girls won't lose their minds when they become aware of Max's presence.

Suzy didn't move from her spot at the bar. Due to the crowd, Mia and other girls from her party would come in and out of the view, but Suzy knew that they are still in the club, drinking and dancing and that men who got hired to make a move on Mia's group were in the area.

Suzy wondered if they made a move already, but she didn't want to be too nosy and check because she might risk exposing herself. She will see it, sooner or later.

Suzy's sight fell on the booth and she saw that Mia and Bri are there, drinking with two men by their sides. The booth was dimly lit, and she didn't get a good view of the guys, but it was not important who they were. As long as there are men in that booth, it means that her plan was a success! Ah, she could hardly wait for the moment when all the saucy pictures of Mia in a compromising situation reach her inbox!

Grace and Olivia went to the restroom together, and when they stepped out, they paused while staring at two men who were lingering in the hallway.

Olivia was the first to recover and she pounced on Mike while raining kisses on his face.

"How come you are here?", Grace asked Jake who smiled in approval while enjoying the visual treat of her with all the styling. Hair, makeup, dress… everything was luxurious and tasteful, and it made her look super-hot.

"I missed you…", Jake murmured into Grace's ear while holding her close to him. "Do you think that Mia will dislike our presence?"

Grace was not sure what to say. It is a bachelorette's party for girls, and not for girls and their boyfriends.

"I'm sure she will understand.", Grace said after some time. "If she freaks out, you can always say that you only stopped by for a drink or two, and will leave later…"

At the indoor bar…

Suzy's breath hitched when she saw that Liz got into the booth with a man, they were holding each other closely and Suzy's eyes nearly bulged out when she recognized him: Max.

Suzy's mind was spinning. Why was Max here? And something else was off… how is it possible that Max is seeing his future sister-in-law with a random guy and he is cool about it? With Max's temper, there should be a big fight in this situation. Just what is going on?

Suzy craned her neck and narrowed her eyes to see better and her world collapsed when she saw that guys in the booth with Mia and Brianna are Hunter and Quentin. What the hell?

Suzy slouched in the chair and texted Irene (aka Hannah). Ten seconds, twenty, thirty… Suzy lost her patience and made a call.

It was ringing but no one picked up.

Suzy scratched her chin with her nails while trying to figure out what is going on. She planned for so many things, but none included that the guys will show up here. Irene was supposed to keep them busy, how come she failed? And even without Irene, the guys were supposed to stay at Dark Knight for the evening, and the drugs that Irene had for them would only make them more unrestrained. And why is Irene not picking up Suzy's call?

Suzy exhaled dejectedly. No matter how many guys try to make a move on Mia or any other girl there, with Hunter present, nothing will work. Suzy gave a small fortune to pay for the guys who will make their move on Mia tonight, and it was all a waste.

She balled her hands into fists. Irene was useless! And why was she not answering her phone!?

Angered to the bone, Suzy left the club while trying to reach Irene.

She got into her car and huffed while rubbing her temples. She needed to calm down and think. If she leaves it like this, in twenty-four hours, Hunter will be married, and then what? Getting into his life will be several folds more difficult with a wife by his side. Everyone will know that he is married!

Suzy spent years chasing after Hunter and stalking him and degrading herself for him, and he is about to get married to some girl who until recently didn't exist. Unacceptable!

But what can she do? If she goes into that club, she can make a scene but that will not achieve anything. It might land her in jail, or she might get beaten, but she will not manage to get between Hunter and Mia.

Suzy realized that she was left with only one option: she needs to get into that wedding.

With a heavy heart, Suzy took a deep breath and made a call... "Hi Julian, Suzy here. Hey, do you still need a date for the Anderson wedding? … Oh, you found someone? … Is there anything I can do to change your mind? … You know that I would do anything. … Sure, I will be there in fifteen…"

Suzy ended the call and slammed her hand into the steering wheel angrily. Julian Temple. A horrible human who is super-eager to get his hands (and the rest of his body) on her. Suzy told herself that she is running out of time, and at Julian is her only way into that wedding. She can't be picky, and she needs to endure, it's not like it will be the first time.

Suzy started the car and drove toward Julian's apartment.

In the nightclub…

Liz and Max joined Mia, Hunter, Brianna, and Quentin. Mike, Olivia, Grace, and Jake arrived shortly after, to complete this group of ten.

They all laughed at this gathering of couples, feeling relieved that all the guys came. It would be awkward if some girl is not matched, as she would definitely sulk at the injustice of being dateless.

"I was not sure if Liz will be upset because we came here without Max…", Hunter said. "But part of me knew that Max will be here."

Max hugged Liz tightly. "I can't be apart from my love." He kissed Liz's cheek and she smiled at him goofily.

"Aww…", Mia, Bri, Olivia, and Grace swooned in unison at the public display of affection.

Hunter, Quentin, Jake, and Mike gave dirty looks to Max. He discarded his pride as a man and is practically forcing them to be more lovey-dovey!

Max raised his hand to call the waitress and ordered a round of drinks for everyone.

"How come you are here?", Max asked the guys.

Hunter expected Max to be here, but Max was confident that others will go to the strip club after dinner and stay there for the night. That was the plan.

Mike rolled his eyes. "No one was interested in dancing ladies, so I canceled our reservation and we ended up bowling a few rounds before coming here."

Max clicked his tongue. "If I knew it's bowling, I would stick around."

"Maybe we can go together soon.", Liz told Max.

Max took her right hand in his and kissed the back of her palm. "With your arm healed, we can do that."

Liz smiled and sank into Max's embrace. The thought of bowling with Max brought back happy memories.
