Chapter 34: Killer (3)

"Chairwoman."

Zhong Wei walked over after putting down his walkie-talkie.

"What is it?"

"I have just received news that some hooligans are gathering outside the event venue. I'm worried that they could cause trouble later."

"The Old City District is famous for its lack of public order. Go bring the matter up with the people from the government departments and have them deal with it."

"Understood, Chairwoman."

At that time, on a rundown basketball court located a few streets away from the event venue, there were more than a hundred people assembled.

"Bro Hao, our people are all here."

The one who spoke was a fatty called Tang Bing. He only had a height of one hundred and sixty centimetres, and he looked rather young, but his most prominent feature was his bulging belly. Although he seemed to be an honest fellow, during fights, he'll be the one who pulled the dirtiest tricks and was a pillar amongst Jiang Hao's subordinates.

"There are still sixty people coming over from Boss Xiong's side, and then all of us would be assembled."

Right at that moment, an underling came rushing towards them.

"Boss Hao."

"What is it? Did that bastard Yang Sheng make a move?"

"No. Boss Hao, just now I went to investigate and discovered the situation at Yang Sheng's side is rather weird."

"Weird? Weird in what way?"

"They didn't seem to have gathered to attack us. Instead, they are heading for the event venue."

Jiang Hao's face turned ugly, and he quietly murmured to himself. "What exactly is that bastard Yang Sheng plotting? Right, have you seen Yang Sheng himself?"

"No, the one leading his men are his few squad leaders."

Jiang Hao mused for a while, before taking out his phone to give Nanrong Hao a call.

"Lil Hao, Yang Sheng is bringing his men over to you! Watch out for yourself, I'm heading there immediately with reinforcements."

While everyone else was in an uproar over his action, the instigator Yang Sheng himself was currently leisurely sitting in his Mercedes-Benz, puffing out a breath of cigar smoke. He was presently on the phone with someone.

"I already settled things as per your request, as for the price, we will need to renegotiate it again. You never mentioned that all the high-ranking officials would be present, and with my move, those people will definitely dig into my background. The risk that I'm taking is far too big, so the two million dollars that we agreed on previously is far from enough."

"Then, how much do you want?" The unknown person on the phone asked.

"Ten million. If the money isn't in my account within the next ten minutes, then I'll call off my men."

"Alright."

The other party gave a cold reply and promptly hung up.

After ending the call, Yang Sheng flicked the cigar that he was holding out of the car window and the smile on his face became incomparably radiant.

He had initially thought that the other party would haggle over the price with him and never expect the other party to be so cool about the amount he quoted.

"Boss Sheng, ten million dollars is no small sum of money, but I'm afraid that we cannot bear the consequences." The chauffeur worriedly reminded Yang Sheng.

"What's there to be afraid of? I already booked a plane ticket. The moment I receive the money, I'll leave the country immediately. Even if they want to catch me, they can only do so in their dreams. I made arrangements for matters on our side and our brothers will continue to manage things here. With that ten million dollars, I'll just play around overseas for a few years and return once things settle down here. At that time, I'll have my share of fun and also be a few million dollars richer. That's simply killing two birds with one stone, so what's there to be worried about?"

Thinking of the rosy future that he would enjoy soon, Yang Sheng's face split into a wide grin.

This was ten million dollars they were talking about!

Although he considered himself to be quite badass, the truth is that he did not make that much money, as he needed to feed the mouths of all his brothers. He had to work for god knows how long before managing to achieve the millionaire status and this ten million was akin to a pie falling from the sky.

"Chen Le, drive. Let's go to the city first."

After a while, Yang Sheng saw that his driver still gave no response. Thus, he leaned forward from the back seat and pushed the other's shoulder.

"Chen ..."

Before he could complete his sentence, his face suddenly paled. Chen Le's head sunk deep into his chest, and his temple had a bloody hole on it, which had not existed previously. Fresh blood profusely flowed out, his gaze turned to the car window, which had a small hole.

Before he could regain his senses, the door on his right was yanked open. A man got into the car, holding a pistol with a silencer in his hand.

"It's you?"

Yang Sheng recognized the identity of the other person. He was the one that made a deal with Yang Sheng previously at the bar. Yang Sheng shrank back and stammered, "What… What do you want?"

"Tell your men to get into action, otherwise ..."

The man cocked the bolt and pressed the muzzle against Yang Sheng's forehead.

"Don't... don't kill me please..."

"Then you better do as I say."

Yang Sheng did not dare to disobey, and quickly pulled out his mobile phone and dialled a number, setting the phone to the speaker option.

The call was connected, and a man's voice rang out: "Boss Sheng, everyone is here. When do you want to start?"

"Now! Immediately!"

Hanging up the phone, Yang Sheng looked at the man and was about to beg for mercy. But the last thing he would ever see was the corner of the man's mouth raising, and his finger pulling the trigger.

In the middle of the conference hall, a few minutes before the signing ceremony began, the representatives of Hongyu Multinational and the various government departments arrived at the newly erected temporary stage.

At this moment, several law enforcement officers responsible for maintaining order rushed to the back of the stage. After a while, the secretaries of several senior government officials rushed to the stage, looking nervous and whispering in the ears of the leaders.

"There's such a thing happening now?"

The government representative had a mask of fury.

"Miss Nanrong, my apologies, but we just received news that someone is causing trouble at the Old City District and they are rushing here now. The enemy is large in number, so for your safety, I suggest that you should return first. We'll settle things over here."

"Alright, sorry to trouble you then."

"All squad members assemble and prepare to evacuate."

Zhong Wei started barking instructions into the walkie-talkie. Soon, all members of Squad 1 arrived, forming a circle of protection around Nanrong Wanqing and Nan Ronghao, while leading them in the direction where the vehicles were parked.

However, as soon as the convoy left the venue, they saw a large mob rushing in from all directions, numbering hundreds of people. These hooligans' arms were wrapped in red ribbons, every one of them holding an iron rod, and ferociously beating up anyone they see.

The surrounding crowd, upon witnessing the mob approaching did not dare to linger and immediately started to flee.

Zhong Zhongwei and his squad all had the backgrounds of highly trained soldiers. When facing the danger of the unruly mob, they kept their calm and continued safeguarding Nanrong Wanqing and Nanrong Hao. They quickly retreated and were prepared to go to the parking lot.

However, the parking lot was one block away, a couple hundreds of meters, and they needed to pass an intersection as well. At that moment, all the roads were blocked by hooligans and congested by the large volume of people. If they chose to pass directly, they would definitely face resistance.

"Liang Zhaohui."

Hearing Zhong Wei's shout, the latter immediately responded, pointing to an alley not far behind him. "There is a small road over there. We can go around from there."

As a bodyguard who had background in reconnaissance, he had conducted a preliminary survey of the surrounding terrain. Seeing that there was no way forward, he immediately executed the backup plan and retreated from the path.

The alley was more than forty meters long and led to the adjacent street.

To prevent the mob behind from catching up, the convoy increased their speed, moving at a jogging pace to the parking lot.

However, as soon as the group of crossed the alley, before they could even let out a sigh of relief, they encountered fifty-odd hooligans who had coincidentally passed the street.

All of a sudden, the eyes of the hooligans focused on them.

"Not good!"

Zhong Wei's complexion sank, and all the muscles on his body tensed instantly.

"Protect the Chairwoman!"
