Chapter 69 - Reunion

deciding to speak with Light about some minor things, time passed quickly and, in no time, he could already see Ais and Lefiya exiting the Manor. Seeing the two quite close, Ethan had a smile on his face.

"Can we go?"

With a nod from Ais and a blush from Lefiya, the group headed towards the streets of the city.

'I haven't thought about it before..but this..this looks like a d-d...date..'

With these thoughts in mind, Lefiya's blush became even more visible but, determined not to be influenced, she tried to inhale and exhale slowly to calm down. Hearing her breathing, Ethan looked at her with a slightly confused expression

"Is everything okay, Lefiya?"

Hearing him call her name, she snapped out of her thoughts while flinching.

"Y-Yes! I'm fine!"

Replying with a small nod, he stared at her blush for some seconds before focusing on Ais

"Do we want to go somewhere in particular?"

Turning her head to look at him, she answered with a 'no' while he found what he was looking for. Pointing at a shop, he smiled

"Let's go try that shop"

Spending the whole morning like this, Ais, Ethan and Lefiya were having fun in the city for what it felt like the first time.

Even if people talked about them, they were no longer as pressing as before, mainly because it was evident that they were on a date. With the fact that Ethan had already had an audience of about 80,000 people, a dozen who talked about him didn't make him feel uncomfortable anymore.

With the time that had passed quickly, Lefiya remembered the conversation she had had yesterday with Riveria.

Now with Ethan busy talking with Finn, Riveria had her chance to talk with Lefiya. Calling her, she turned to see who called her while Ais stared at Riveria.

"Tomorrow, in the afternoon, I want to restart our training to see if Ethan can fight as well, can you come in the training grounds?"

Hearing this question, Lefiya thought about it for a moment while Ais replied with a nod.

'She is right... the best way to check if everything is okay in his body is to train...how didn't I think about such a simple thing..Riveria is amazing as always..'

Admiring Riveria for her intelligence, Lefiya nodded as well while she made a smile. Deciding to change the subject, Lefiya turned towards Ais

"T-Tomorrow..c-can I come to you?"

Hearing this, she replied

"I...will rest in Ethan's room today.."

Even though she knew this as well, Lefiya replied with a blush

"Ah.. I see, that's f-fine.."

Staring at the group from the distance, Tiona decided to approach Riveria with a smile on her face

"Can you tell me what are you talking about...? I'm curious!"

Replying with a sigh, she answered

"Tomorrow we'll restart our train, mostly because Ethan needs to test the effects of his magic against other adventurers, otherwise it would be too risky to let him fight someone without due precautions"

Feeling strangely annoyed while saying this, she was tempted to change the way she said it, but she knew it was the truth from Lefiya's words and what she saw in the arena.

"Then it means he needs someone like me to fight against, right?"

Even more annoyed from her action, Riveria closed her eyes

"Not necessary, I can fight with fists as well, although you specialize in close combat, that doesn't mean I can't fight him in close combat as well. The difference in level is too high for him to even put a fight against me."

Remembering how he nearly damaged her barrier, she had conflicted emotions but, her pride would never allow her to be seen as weak. Pouting, Tiona replied

"I know that you can fight him in close combat, but I want to be his opponent! You can be his opponent when he needs to test magic against another mage"

Her words made her open her eyes while staring at her

"That's fine for me, if you want come tomorrow in the training grounds"

Nodding happily, Tiona returned near her twin while Tione sighed

"Are you serious, Tiona? He's still weaker than you"

"He entered in our familia 2 weeks ago. I think it's understandable for him to be weak. What interested me was the way he faces situations that would be impossible for normal people. Even the fact that he had the guts to make a deal with Loki intrigued me from the start... I don't know yet if he represents the idea of ​the man I want to be with, but who cares? I want to continue watching him, so I'll do exactly that!"

Surprised that her twin was even more serious than what she previously thought, Tione replied

"How can you be so sure he's for polygamy? Surely you can see it, but I don't think that's enough"

Laughing, Tiona closed her eyes while bringing her hands behind her head, looking towards the ceiling with a smile.

"Who cares about that? I will ask him if it would be a problem in the future"

Understanding she couldn't do anything to make her twin change idea, she looked away while she was deep in thought

'Ethan..If you dare to break my sister's heart...'

Seeing her twin with a serious expression, Tiona slapped her back with a guffaw

"Why you always think about complicated stuff, Tione? Enjoy life as it is!"

Clenching her jaw, Tione grasped her twin's arm with an angry expression

"Tiona! Stop hitting me, that hurts!"

Easily running away from her grasp, Tiona ran towards the exit while Tione followed her to give her a lecture..

With a sarcastic laugh, Lefiya said

"they really are l-lively.."

Nodding, Ais didn't say anything while Riveria sighed again.

"I need to return to my room for now, I'll see you tomorrow"

Saying goodbye to Riveria, Ais added

"I need to go... Ethan is waiting for me.."

Thinking about her words for a second, she blushed while she said goodbye to her as well. Seeing the two heading towards the exit, Lefiya's thoughts were wandering on what Ais and Ethan would do as always before deciding it was better to return in her room as well..

"Ethan! I w-would like to continue wandering in the city, but we need to return"

Confused, he turned towards her while she explained what happened when he was talking with Finn.

"I see, then it's better to return. We need probably an hour from here to reach the Twilight Manor, did she say a specific time?"

Thinking about it for a moment, she shook her head

"She just said in the afternoon, so I guess it's fine if we don't rush.."

With a nod from him, the group returned to the Twilight Manor. Seeing that the guard wasn't here today too, Ethan was growing suspicious something happened.

'I guess I'll ask Loki when I return from the expedition..it isn't time to bother her now...'

Entering the Manor, he saw something he didn't expect.

'Hestia..? What is she doing in the Twilight Manor..?'

Once Hestia recognized him, her expression shifted from neutral to surprised while she approached him. Running towards him, Lefiya and Ais remembered she was the goddess that came to visit him yesterday

Jumping on him, she opened her arms, ready to embrace him while Ethan decided to follow along. Once she was in his arms, she began to storm him with questions about his well-being. Stroking her hair, he let her clench on him while Ais observed with her emotionless face.

Blushing, Lefiya didn't look at the two as in her mind, all that was possible to imagine was Ethan and Ais...

While she was fighting against her inner thoughts, Hestia started to calm down as he answered her questions with as calmly as possible. Managing not to mind her b.u.t.t on his lower body, he made a thumb up for his own resistance as he said

"Calm down, Hestia.. I'm fine, Lefiya, Riveria and my Magic completely healed me..."

Nodding, she inhaled and exhaled a few times. Understanding he could finally ask something as well, he decided to start from the first question he had in mind

"Where's Lili? Don't tell me, you left her alone in the Abandoned Church while you came here?"

With a frown, she shook her head while the voice of a pallum echoed in the hall

"Hestia-sama? I asked Loki-sama, but she said that Ethan..."

Seeing him with Hestia in his arms, she stopped for a moment before tears were filling her eyes

"H..Hestia-sama.."

Running towards Ethan, she 'claimed' attention while Hestia decided to release him, returning to touch the ground with her feet. Sighing, she said

"Don't cry, I was just happy that he's fine..."

Seeing how easily she got off him, he was speechless.

'The Hestia from the anime would never have allowed Lili to stop her actions, or at least, it would've been different.. Maybe it's possible that the fact she's the first member in the familia and didn't try to rob me made her wanting to be much closer with her then normal... I made a good choice in letting Lili be the first of her familia..'

Thinking this, he closed his eyes while Lili continued to accuse Hestia of her 'sins'. Placing a hand on both girls' head, he made a smile

"Let's stop this, It's meaningless to argue just for a hug, I'll give you a quick hug as well, okay?"

Saying this, he reopened his eyes before giving her a quick hug. A little surprised by the speed with which things have changed, Lili didn't reply to his hug at first, but, after a second, she brought her tiny hands behind his neck while the tears escaped from her eyes. With a low voice, she said

"I'm just happy..that you're okay .."

Nodding, he waited for some seconds until her tears stopped to flow down her face.. Releasing her, he patted her again, this time using his magic to enhance his hand's temperature.

Feeling the sudden heat from his hand, she instinctively brought her head more towards his hand as if to gather more heat... Nodding as well, she smiled happily while Hestia, Ais and Lefiya stared at the scene. Gritting her teeth, Hestia was ready to separate the two but, before she could, the first to speak was Ais.

"Ethan..let's go.."

Hearing her, he removed his hand from Lili's head while she was even more sad then the other times that this situation occurred.

'I don't know which technique he acquired to make his hand so comfortable, but for now, the objective is to receive more of that kind of pats!'

Determined to obtain a few more pats, Lili had a tiny flame in her eyes while thinking on training, although all her parameters. They were so low as to be comparable to someone who had never entered the dungeon, but she was always hopeful of improving, to be able to stay with Ethan.

'Nothing will bring me down ... someday ...'

Thinking this, she got lost in her world for some seconds before Hestia shouted

"Oi, Lili! What are you doing there, come with us!"

Hearing her Goddess, Lili turned her head towards her, smiling happily while saying

"I'm coming, Hestia-sama!!"

Was all that she said before she ran towards Hestia...

'I will surely be able to reach him...and walk next to him..!'
