Chapter 25 - Status

Seeing the Takemikazuchi Familia save him, especially Mikoto, hit hard on Ethan's pride. He felt that 'nobody' could keep up with him, but he never focused on how easy it was for a level 1 to die in the Dungeon.

With these thoughts in mind, he decided to ask Light about his own status.

["Light... My parameters.. The new magic.. can you..explain?"]

[Your parameters are the aftermath of your fight and your new skill, know that your new magic can do something similar to [Liaris Freeze]. To make you an example, the moment your proficiency with the magic reach the threshold and you manage to make a 'breakthrough', your parameters would be boosted by the Magic, It's something similar to the [Innates] but to a lower level]

["I understand.."]

While Ethan was talking with Light, Mikoto was still looking at him for an answer, something picked up by the Captain of the Takemikazuchi Familia.

"Wait, he doesn't seem confused by the situation."

Hearing these words made Ethan look at him. He tried to stand up again and, without answering the Captain, he directed his gaze to Mikoto.

"Thank you for your assistance, I have some broken bones, so I couldn't move"

"You don't have to thank us, we will help you return to the surface if you want"

Ethan felt ashamed by her reply but, with a smile on his face, he replied

"It won't be necessary, I have potions"

Saying this, Ethan bought a [Recovery Potion] at the cost of 5.000 SP.

He was fortunate he brought a purse with the intention to use his magic without being questioned. With an indifferent face, Ethan put his hand in the purse while the [Recovery Potion] materialized in it.

After he had the potion in his hand, Ethan pulled it out...the potion.

Drinking it in one swift made Ethan feel the left broken bones in his body re-assemble before he could stand up again.

With a smile on his face, Ethan decided to make the situation less awkward.

"It's a p.l.e.a.s.u.r.e to meet you, I'm Ethan, an adventurer of the Loki Familia"

"It's a p.l.e.a.s.u.r.e to meet you too, Ethan-dono, My name is Yamato Mikoto"

With the presentations between the two of them, The rest of the Takemikazuchi Familia immediately replied

"My name is Hitachi...Chigusa. It's a p.l.e.a.s.u.r.e to meet...you"

"My name is Asuka, It's a p.l.e.a.s.u.r.e to meet you"

"My name is Kashima Ouka, Captain of the Takemikazuchi Familia"

After their presentation ended, Ethan wanted to finish his quest and return to the surface, so, with a bow, he said

"I need to return to the surface now, thank you again for saving me, I will repay this debt in the future"

After he said this, they saw Ethan vanish from his spot and, sensing that the speed he was moving was faster than his own, Ouka furrowed his brows while he said

"We should return to the surface too"

Having his SP boosted all the way to 76.000, he thought about how to spend them and, he decided to buy a skill related to his speed. He found that he liked to be fast and, with people able to break the sound barrier like nothing, he wanted to be able to react to their speed.

Opening the shop store, Ethan thought hard about what skill he should buy but, seeing that most of the skills were so expensive made him feel depressed.

[Ethan, You should buy another manual.]

Hearing her words made him sigh while he replied

["Hai, I will search for "Manuals" now"]

With these words stated, Ethan saw the classic screen appear in his mind while a lot of manuals where displayed all over there but, seeing one that piqued his interest, he said

["I will buy this [Instantaneous Speed Movements]"]

[Understood, using 25.000SP to buy [Instantaneous Speed Movements]...]

Having the book stored in his Inventory, Ethan thought that he still needed to train for his quest but, he decided to re-start his train at a later date.

After 2 hours, he was back on the surface. Seeing the Moon, Ethan felt shivers down his spine but, deciding to ignore this feeling again, He looked at the moon with a smile on his face.

'I never thought..the Moon could be so beautiful'

Whit these thoughts in mind, he made his way to the Twilight Manor, equipping his [Phantom's Cloak]. This because he didn't want to talk with the guards and explain his situation, he felt sleep was the only thing he needed right now.

But he wasn't so fortunate because, strangely, Ais was still awake and, the moment he entered the Manor, she had her sword on his neck

"Who are you..?"

Seeing the sword made Ethan undress his [Phantom's Cloak] while he said, whispering

"I wanted to not disturb all the Familia, so I tried to sneak in but..."

Ais, the moment she saw Ethan, dropped her sword, sheathing it back.

"Ethan.. I'm sorry"

He wanted to hug her but, repressing these thoughts, he said

"Don't worry, we will always have time to go together in the Dungeon"

Hearing his words, Ais had a 'smile' on her face while she replied

"Yes.."

Feeling the need to sleep again, Ethan turned towards his room while he said

"I need to get some sleep. If you want, we can go tomorrow to the dungeon together"

Nodding her head, Ais replied

"Yes, see you..tomorrow.."

He understood that Ais' personality always impacted heavily on his heart. This because he felt that he would love her one day, not because of his anime preferences, but because she was simply too cute for him. He wanted to help her understand feelings, even if she would never love him, Ethan wanted to see her happy..

With these thoughts in mind, he decided to leave it for another time while he headed towards his room.

Entering it, he went on the bed only with the [T-shirt] and [Shorts] he bought in the shop. After a moment, he felt his consciousness fade away.

Waking up, Ethan saw that it was a bright new day and, with a bit of hesitation, he went to Loki's room.

"Loki, are you asleep?"

Hearing these words, Loki made a loud yawn from her room, saying

"Oh, you returned.."

While she said this, she remembered that he went to the dungeon yesterday. She opened the door while saying

"You took your time in the Dungeon"

He decided not to lie to her and answered sincerely

"I had a few 'problems' and had to return again on the surface to take care of them, you can say I didn't do som... Oh, I fought against a monster party"

Loki had a shocked expression on her face while she tried to calm down

"You are saying..you fought against a monster party all alone!?"

Deciding to reveal something more to her, he asked

"Can I enter your room?"

With a nod, she looked at Ethan enter the room while closing it behind himself

"I have other type of magic that I didn't mention before. I will tell you more details in the future."

Continuing his speech, he added

"I came here because I wanted to level up."

Hearing his words made Loki grin while she said

"Interesting.. I really hit the Jackpot accepting that contract"

She went near him and, with a smile on her face, she added

"Your shirt"

Ethan, took off his shirt while sitting on the bed, waiting for Loki to help him 'level-up'

She sat on his back while she passed her finger on his spine, teasing him a little.

"Your body is really toned.."

He wasn't immune to teasing but, feeling the teasing strangely comforting, he replied with the same teasing tone

"Your b.u.t.t isn't that bad either"

She lightly pinched his back with her fingers while she said

"I am starting, you may feel pain but endure it"

With a nod from Ethan, Loki started the process and, after only 15 minutes, she saw the parameters of Ethan changed to level 2. She saw a lot of skills and was surprised again by the fact that the boy in front of her seemed anything but normal.

The [Hunter] development ability, was what Loki had trouble to understand, the fact that not only he unlocked 3 development abilities simultaneously but the one he had unlocked could only be gained by killing many monsters made Loki feel worried about him.

She said

"You only fought a monster party...I understand..it must have been a long battle. Welcome back, Ethan"

Sensing the 'shift' in her behavior, Ethan tried to understand what she was thinking but, he decided to put the matter in the back on his mind while saying with a smile on his face

"I'm home"
