27 Raging Venom

Laurel eventually was done raging and let the conversation to continue. There really wasn't much left to be said, Alex was level 10, which is the normal level for a new adventurer.

Laurel then went on to explain that Adventurer's were always grouped into pairs, and these pairs were made for life, unless one of the two committed a great crime or died. These pairs were always assigned by the guild. She had decided after returning that I would be paired with Alex.

This was because of three reasons. The first was that as I was extremely young I did not know the customs of this place, and would need someone who had access to a lot of information. The second was that because of my origins not many would accept me. Alex was a beast folk, and the beast folk were much more open then the other races. Even beast folk churches would not reject me. The third reason was that Alex's fighting style was let's just say a little too much for most people to handle. But it would mesh well with my own combat style as I was agile and a ranged fighter.

A squad was a group of three different pairs. Only pairs of a similar rank could be grouped together to become a squad, and this could only happen after the pair had become a certain level.

The ranks of a party were determined by the quests they had completed as well as their completion rate. Every pair started off as the lowest rank, which was E ranked. The pair could only level up from their own actions. A pair could apply to cross ranks and do a higher level ranked quest, but the person who assigned the quest does not have to accept their application.

There was an exception to this. Most dungeons could be entered at any rank, and your rewards were calculated on how far you cleared and what you brought back. Dungeon quests had their own rules, and would be unique to the dungeon.

Each dungeon was unique, and yet they all had a few things in common. The first was that the further you went in the more difficult the monsters. The second was that you could only Leave the dungeon after clearing a form. The final was that rewards would only be granted by the dungeon once you had left it. Each person would recieve their own rewards, and they would be unique(ish) to them.

Because of these rules dungeons were the most popular method for pairs to both level and rank up.

"However before you two can run off and galavant in a dungeon we need to not only get Yuri registered, but we also need to register your pair. After that Yuri needs some actual clothes and time to heal. Thankfully you can do the first two right here with me. I can already read all of your information, thanks to my status as vice guild master. However we need to clarify a few things...What is your last name?"

I had to think for a few minutes about this, I did not want to take the last name I had in my previous life. I had no attachment to it, and since my first name had already changed, along with my gender and race, I might as well change my last name.

I reviewed all the information I had and finally came to a decision. It perfectly fit with my mixture of blessings and curses. "Morningstar. I am Yuri Morningstar".

"Oooh that's pretty" Laurel said as she jotted the information down. "You're obviously a female...You're sexuality is gay. Your level is 10...Your class is Arcane Assassin? And you've got the Potential to be the Scion of Poison. You have an insane stat progression but your leveling speed is slow. How old are you? oh well we will just put 18 here, after all goblins become an adult at 7 days."

She hurried through the information. I could see Alex blush when she found I was gay. From then on she had a hard time looking into my eyes. Everytime she did she would turn a shade darker of red. I shrugged. There were worse things than to be stuck with a homophobe. At least she was not violent towards me..yet.

"Ok miss Morningstar I've completed your registration. they will have your badge available for you to pick up in 2 days on the first floor." She paused as she looked up from her paperwork, noticing the awkwardness between the two of us. "Oh don't be like that Yuri, Alex is gay too."

Now it was my turn to turn red. Just because I am basically the incarnation of lust due to my birth and the meddling of a certain vice guild master did not mean I was a slut. I had never even kissed a girl in my previous life. And my mothers long string of potential partners only gave me bad advice on this type of thing.

I shook my head. What was I even thinking. I had just met the girl and I was already thinking about spreading my legs.. Fucking goblins. I finally took a deep breath as I glared at her. "Did you really need to put my sexual preferences onto my guild card?"

Laurel blinked a few times as she looked at me. "Why would I put that on there? I was just letting your partner know that you're a sexual deviant."

Laurel blinked a few times as she was glared at by two sets of eyes.

"I am a grown woman! I do not need your help hooking up with beautiful women! Even if her cat ears and tail are absolutely adorable."

"Aunt Laurel! I am 18. You don't need to try hooking me up with every girl you see! not everyone is as understanding as my mother about my half beastman heritage."

I looked at Alex and she looked at me. Both of our faces beat red as we looked at the floor.

Laurel seemed oblivious to the awkwardness she had created and absentmindedly tapped her pen on her lips. "As for a team name let's call you Raging Venom. I think it has a nice ring to it." She placed the pen down and looked at the two of us startled. "What are you two still doing here? Alex didn't I tell you to take Her clothes shopping? And take her to the bath house too. She looks like she could use some warm water therapy."
