Chapter 206: survivor

Chills floated inside a dark cave, to be precise it was an underground dungeon. The dark and glum atmosphere inside the dungeon was spine-chilling. The heavy smell of blood permeated inside it making anyone feeling nauseous.  However, Severus was very cool with it. Not even a tint of fear was on his face.

On the contrary, he looked very comfortable as if he was strolling inside his personal garden.

[You look fine!] Noworry spat.

"Of course. All this brings back my nostalgia. Although I never liked serving punishments but as a matter of fact, it was included in my duty, so I did. I have performed gruesome interrogation, so I am more or less familiar with all this stuff." Severus who was handcuffed replied.

The guards who were in front of them quickly shoved them inside one of the cells and locked him inside with Noworry.

[Ewwww…I smell urine here] Noworry felt nauseated.

Severus looked on his right and spotted a man who was heavily bruised. His fingernails were ripped and the blood on his cuticles was dried. His intestines were ripped, and a huge amount of flesh was outside his body. Severus concluded him dead as there were no signs of breathing. His eyeballs were already gauzed out while his tongue turned black. It was horrific to see it.

One's blood could turn cold even thinking about what torture the dead man had undergone.

[They all are maniacs]

"You should be the last one to say this Noworry" Severus gave him a glance.

[Really? And why is that so?"]

Severus smiled "I am sure this torture is nothing for you. Since you have served Hades, the god of the underworld, I am sure you have seen much worse than this. How can mere humans ever match up to gods? Not even our punishments can be matched with yours."

[HA!]

Noworry was speechless.

[So, we will spend the rest of our lives as prisoners]

"Don't worry. Just two days maximum. I am sure someone will come to pay us a visit in the next two days."

Noworry didn't want to live in this shabby place so he just flew off somewhere using his powers.

Now Severus was the only one left.

Severus cleaned the hush seating place and sat on a lotus position with his eyes closed. For two days straight he never opened his eyes for once. Even when Guards gave him food, he didn't touché the food plate.

He just sat there like a stone statue.

It was a rare sight to see inside the dungeon, so every other prisoner was rather curious about him. Unlike them, he was not treated harshly but was left there alone. He didn't even touch the food. At this rate, he was just seeking death.

Two days passed in a blink and the third day was also going to end. It was the dark hour when the lights inside the dungeons turned were extinguished.

Severus felt shuffling inside his cell, so he opened his eyes. Since he had closed his eyes for two days straight, he felt blessed when he was met with darkness as light would only tingle his eyes.

"Wake up Severus it's me. We need to hurry or everything I have done will go to waste" A soft voice urged him.

A sly smile graced his lips. He was very well aware of the owner of this voice. "So, you came?"

"Of course,"

She urged him. "Let's go, I will tell you everything later."

Surveys quietly followed her.

"Light up the torches. Fast" A grumpy voice roared.

"How the hell lights went off? Were you all eating shots when this happened? Can't you do a simple job like this properly" He went on spewing profanities without any mercy.

The guards who were him were all scared and hurriedly went to light the torches and just like this, the darkness disappeared.

Everyone finally took a breath of relief.

As everyone was happy one of the guards screamed. "No! Sir the prisoner has escaped."

The big burly man dashed toward the scream. "What did you say? Who escaped?"

He was shocked.

"The …. the man who Crown prince ordered us to capture him"

Holy shit!

The man cursed loudly.

"Lord Minya will kill us if he gets to know."

"Sir, shall we inform the lord?" The guard asked meekly.

"You want to die!" He threatened but the current in his voice was obvious. He was scared too.

What should be done?

This was something he couldn't hide but if he reported it….

He was not sure whether he would get to see the next sunrise or not.

"Hiding is useless. Even if it costs me my life, I need to tell the Lord about it. I can't let his plans be foiled" He uttered worriedly.

Without wasting any time, he went straight for the sacred hall where the ritual was supposed to be conducted.

Severus and Moon who were hiding in the shadows nodded at each other as they stealthily tailed them. Minya was smart so he had restrained any information regarding today's ritual from Moon, for extra precautions. But the Moon was sly. She knew from her surroundings that there was something fishy going on thus she started to be alerted all the time. It was heaven bestowed luck that she stumbled on the confrontation between Minya and Severus.

And then everything started making sense.

Finally, everything was settling in its place and prophecy was going to come true. She had waited several centuries for the chance. Not even in her wildest dream, she is going to let this chance go to waste. She will flip every table to turn the sails of fate in her favor.

Come what may.

With such determination, she took a huge risk by helping Severus to break out of the prison.

No one said a word, but a lot was going inside both of their minds.

No one was aware but inside the main hall, a storm was brewing for everyone that was going to sweep everything with it. Only the ones with an honest heart and courageous mindset would emerge as the survivor.
