Chapter 142: Cold Room

As Severus stood, gazing at the dilapidated room. He shivered, as though, ice had replaced his spine. The cold air enveloped the entire body. The multiple layers of clothing could not protect against the deathly cold. Weeds and dandelions poked out from these cracks. Vines formed a twisted maze upon the side of the house, reaching their tentacles towards the roof. The walls showed black decay by neglect. Splotches of original paint hinted at the former prosperity. Cobwebs covered the corners of the doors, tiny black spiders threading towards their prey. The room was fit for the kings and queens of the supernatural. A musty, dank odor suddenly crept into my nose. Black and brown mold dotted the ceiling in clusters, evident of rain seeping through the roof. The floor covered with grime and dirt. Sharp shadows roamed around the room. The room was empty and in no way had any special details except those remarkable bloodstains as Severus looked around wondering over to it.

He felt chilled.

As he took a step forward a sudden chill swept through his bones, he could see hear his breath, every exhale sent forth a small cloud, He knew it was cold, but he did not know it was that cold, He shrugged off the chill and proceeded to begin walking forward with arms close to himself as he glanced from side-to-side thinking that perhaps he would see some form of something. With no recall, no answer to what he had asked, he felt quite alone.

"I feel like I have been here Noworry."

[You sure?]

Severus shook his head. He can swear that he hadn't seen such a spooky room, but the vibes here somehow feel familiar to him.

As he strolled down the room, he began to feel a sort of DeJa'Vu, he felt like he had been there before or at least a certain part of it. Severus continued to walk, more questions asked but still none to be answered. He began to feel a bit of anticipation, feeling like something will happen but I did not know where or how, or even what would happen.

After he had walked for a bit he stopped and looked around him but there was nothing much, just walls. [Your mind does like to create things when looking at darkness Severus] Noworry comforted him. He could sense the fear and anxiety bubbling up inside him.

But what came next even Noworry cannot explain how he felt.

Severus instantly blanked out whereas Noworry who was inside his consciousness felt like he was trapped inside an endless void.

Severus remained in the same state for a while and before he could be knocked out completely, his black spear started shining as it started creating black smoke which instantly covered Severus' body by making a barrier around him and soon Severus woke up. The connection between Noworry and Severus instantly established when Severus came to his senses.

[What happened to Severus? How could you blackout?]

Severus' hands were still shaking, and fear never experienced before was brought face to face with him.

"I stared into the darkness for several minutes, I wondered what was to happen and I got my answer. Two eyes opened in the darkness, two dark and twisted eyes stared at me from it and my heart began to pound. My body felt frozen, my limbs numb, and I could do nothing to turn away from the sight that was in front of me. But what made it worse, is that it smiled. It grinned a horrible toothy grin, it stared right at me with those damned teeth. I did not know what it was, I do not want to know. I tried to look away, but I couldn't my eyes plastered onto that horrific scene. I couldn't see its body if it had one, all I could see were those terrible eyes and teeth. I think myself not as invincible, but as human, yet though for all I have seen and encountered not once have I ever been so afraid. Was it a monster? Was it a demon? Was it me? I dare not the question; any answer could prove to be right and prove to be just as bad. I can swear on it, but I don't want to either because if it is what I saw then I don't really know whether we will leave this place alive or maybe this room would be our Cemetery."

[..]

[This room is cold and damp, giving a chill feeling which would make a person nauseous. Blood pooled on the ground, that dripped out of the cadaver, and everything scattered all over the floor, indicating the struggle before the homicide. I wonder what horrific secret we stepped onto Severus] Noworry said grimly.

The moldy, rotting, room stood in front of Severus, only fear keeping his feet planted to the ground. The bottom step squeaked as he applied pressure with his foot, he let out a sigh of relief as the old structure had not swallowed him up.

The musty smell of a house that had been long abandoned filled my nose.

A foul stench invaded my nostrils, I looked around to see where the smell was coming from and nearly vomited at the sight, it was a body, a bit of flesh was still there being eaten by the millions of grey rats….

[This...is this a girl's body? Lord! What is this?]

Severus was in the same state of shock as Noworry.

The woman on the floor was lifeless. Lifeless. Her auburn hair was scattered in multiple places, stained with dried blood, crimson. Her emerald green eyes were wide open, but her jade irises held a sudden sadness. Her clothes, a lime green gown, were all bloody. Her body was slumped over, half-sitting, half-laying on the cold linoleum floor. And the smell. The smell was the most disturbing thing I had ever sniffed. It was that blatantly her bowels had been released, and all too soon.

Severus and Noworry hearts pounded vigorously with one same question and continued to race through both of their minds and that was the mind, 'Who did this?'

"Maverick"

[That old Maverick]

Both voiced out their doubt simultaneously.

Severus felt cold even as his blood started turning cold as his complexion paled.

"Noworry did you see anything before I passed out? Don't tell me I am the only one who saw here?" Severus asked fearfully.

Noworry expression turned grimmer and grimmer. [I just felt a cold shadow but did not actually see anything. I was more focused on your safety and when you passed out then my connection with you was severed. I couldn't contact you no matter how much I tried. I felt like I was in an endless void. I was in a state of panic and the last I remember is talking to you as soon as I got hold of your consciousness]

[Severus told me honestly what I missed?]

Severus remained quiet for a moment.

"I can feel the sweat drench my skin, the throbbing of my own eyes, the ringing screams vibrating in my ears, and the thumping of my heart against my chest. My fingers are curled into a fist, nails digging into my palm. I can't hear my rapid breathing, but I can feel the oxygen flooding in and out of my lungs. Fear tortures my guts, churning my stomach with intense cramps. Fear engulfs my conscience, knocking all other thoughts aside. Fear overwhelms my body, making it drastically exhausted. First, I thought I was mistaken and was just hallucinating but then she showed herself for a brief moment making me wonder who she was. She played like hide and seek with me and when finally, I was able to catch her she just surrendered. Like an adorable girl she smiled but before I could take a look at her face she transformed instantly. Maybe it was a dream or just some high-level spell but whatever it was, it was definitely scary. I saw a beautiful and alluring woman smiling but soon bloody fangs came out from her mouth. Her beautiful fingernails instantly converted into long skinny black nails as those fantasy witches have them. Blood was dripping from her eyes because those eyes that I praised were hollow. There were no eyeballs, just an empty eye socket. The woman looked hideous but even in this attire, her charm didn't fade. I hate to admit but when she whispered my name, I felt like my soul left me. She sweetly whisperer…"

'If you are afraid of sunshine,

Even the sun is scary to you.

If you are afraid of rain,

Even a sweet shower is scary to you.

For if you love sunshine,

If you love rain,

They are a lullaby for the soul.

Fear lives not in the world,

But within the mind.

So, when fear calls at your door,

Bang, bang, bang...

Ask why you are afraid.

And then you will find,

There is only sunlight in your doorway,

Only gentle rain in your garden.'
