Chapter 45: Desella's backstory

Desella was horrified. Severus grin made her feel suffocated and she shivered.

"There there Desella, why are you scared? I said that I can but I didn't say that I will. So take it easy and tell me the things that I should know", Severus smiled and handed her a candy. Desella accepted the candy but didn't eat it.

Who would be hungry while facing the threat? Desella took several deep breaths and mustered the courage to tell Severus.

"Severus I don't know what will befall on me if I tell you the secret but since the situation doesn't allow me to hide it so I should spill it. Beware I really don't know if I will be dead or alive after telling you this but you too could face retributions. I didn't want to endanger you so I didn't tell you in advance. Are you sure you wanted to know?"

Severus kept quiet and met Desella's gaze. It was clear and honest just the same when she was terrified of being left alone. Severus didn't doubt her but he doubted her words. What does she mean that they will suffer? Even if he wanted to know the reasons, he didn't want her to die but then again she said she don't know what will happen. What if nothing happened? You never know unless you try.

With this thought in his mind, Severus asker Desella to tell. For the first time in his life, he left the situation for fate to decide. One thing was sure that, if things are meant to be yours then it will be and if not then no matter how hard you try, it will never be yours.

"Go ahead and tell me. We need to try it out to see what will befall"

Desella eyes widened but she didn't object to it. Since he made his mind then she should not keep him in dark.

"I don't know about my origin. How was I generated or how was I trapped? I know nothing. I just know that when I opened my eyes all I saw was letters. I was in an empty room which had a tiny door but alas it was locked. No matter how hard I tried to open it or how desperately I wished to get freed, nothing worked. No one came to my rescue. "

"My room had white walls and in those walls, various letters were printed on it. It was a strange language which I didn't know but somehow I was able to comprehend it. It was a cage. I don't remember anything except for those 4 walls and scriptures. I don't even know I do I understand you and your language since I have never learned it. I can understand and comprehend it though I don't know how? I didn't have any childhood nor any parents or friends. As far as I remember I was just like this from the beginning in human form. A girl trapped in a room. Those four walls had four rules written on each and were considered as a key for my freedom"

Severus knew that there would be a sad story behind Desella'a life but he didn't expect it to be this sad. This type of life can't be called life but then again he wasn't sure whether Desella was living or will so he didn't comment on her past.

"Tell me those four rules", Severus demanded.

Desella nodded her head and went ahead to speak," Every wall had one rule. Starting from the first wall, it contained a quote."

"What quote?"

"It said, Be happy since you are chosen, Not everyone can feel the bliss of alone. it probably was a greeting but the confusing thing in this statement is chosen one. How was I chosen one when I was a will", Desella said bleakly.

Who would be happy to live a life full of loneliness? No one would want to be chosen to live such a bleak life.

Severus didn't comment anything and seeing that he was quiet, Desella continued.

"The second wall said, You are a will and will be only summoned up when someone who had the same will as you would summon you. The third one said that Freedom isn't outside but it's inside. I really didn't get it. I mean what does it mean?. Since I was not able to comprehend it I didn't give it much thought. The last wall was the same which had a door and it said, Happiness isn't outside but inside. The world is a cruel place to live so it's better if you don't cross the door even if you are summoned."

"So why did you crossed it if you were warned?"

"I did it because I don't believe loneliness can be happiness. Since I was the death of spell so I have seen gore, death, blood, and remorse. People regret it in their last time. Nothing is as painful as regretting while you are at the end. Despair and sadness aren't something which anyone can understand. I saw it with my own eyes and felt those doing moments of people. I can experience despair and sadness which death brings. I know at regret is and that's the reason I crossed the door. I didn't want to waste my entire life in regret. The regret of not choosing what the other side of the world had to offer"

Severus roughly understood Desella's past but some suspicions were aroused inside him. He didn't have facts now but he had a hunch.

"Okay I get it all but still you didn't tell me the reason"

Desella"...."

"I just told you everything. What else is left?", Desella asked in confusion/'

"I understand that you crossed the door since you didn't want to regret it but care to tell me when did I summon you? Why did you trick me in freeing you? How did you know the way to get out from there and since you were aware, why didn't you try it earlier?"

"You don't know when you summoned me?", Desella asked seriously.

"No", Severus dEnied.

"A summon isn't what you do with spells. There is a particular ritual for summoning which includes performing spells and some ingredients and in our case, it was magical water and the spell you performed that day near the pond. I tricked you since you were too slow. Your will was the strongest among the other wills that I ever came in contact with and was the only will that resonated with my frequency so you were the only bet I have. I waited patiently for you to read the book and decide the scripture for freeing me but you didn't thus I meddled with knowledge inside the book", Desella said sheepishly.

Severus didn't have words to spare.

"Okay, but why did you stick to me then? Since I freed you, you can go anywhere."

Desella sheepish smile was replaced with sadness.

"When I came outside I was too happy to think about anything else but when you asked me to go find someone, I realized that I don't know any. It was same as being trapped while I was free so I stick to you and moreover I realized later that I can't leave your side"

"Why?", Severus asked immediately.

"I don't know. When you left me in the jungle I felt a severe pain in my heart and it felt as if will die so I chased you an as soon as you turned the pain disappeared. It feels like I am bound to you."

"You have all the knowledge of death and spells still you don't know what is happening with you?", Severus frowned when he heard Desella'a explanation.

"I know it's weird but I am the will of spells nad death. What can you expect from me? How would I know about all these?", Desella explained innocently.

"Damn so you did all this since you wanted to be free and now you are somehow bound to me.", Severus said exasperatedly.

"Sorry", Desella apologized honestly.

Severus fell into contemplation.
