Chapter 5: Change Part 1

Chapter 5: Change Part 1

Lu Chen walks out of the mansion, wearing a white school uniform. The school uniform made him look pristine and noble. But it’s offset by the long hair that he has. He didn’t mind as he walks towards a 70-year-old man dressed in a butler attire, standing next to a black limousine.

Smiling, Lu Chen greets the old man, “Elder Wu, good morning.”

Elder Wu has been the butler for the Lu family for two generations. The old man has been supporting from the time of his grandfather’s generation to right now. Elder Wu was there for all of the events.

Elder Wu smiles at Lu Chen, “Good day, young master. The car is ready.” He opens the door for Lu Chen to get in.

As Elder Wu was driving, Lu Chen looks out the window. He is lost in thought about how he was going to change the past.

“Elder Wu, what's today's date?”” Before figuring out what he has to do, he needs to know how far back he was sent in the past.

“Young master, today is May 10th.” Elder Wu said as he continues to drive, not minding the sudden question.

May 10th, huh. I got about a month. It should be enough time for me to study and fine-tune my knowledge to pass the exam. The exam Lu Chen was thinking of was the gaokao.

In his previous life, Lu Chen didn’t study at all for the gaokao. As a result of this, he bombed the test with flying colors. Thankfully he was able to get into a decent college. Thanks to his father’s influence and a hefty donation to the college.

Lu Chen sighs in relief. He was sent far enough back to the point to change the majority of the problems.

There is one thing I have to change first.

“Elder Wu, when school ends, can you take me to the barbershop to get a haircut.” He needs to get rid of this long hair. It was covering his face too much and blocking his vision.

Is young master serious? Elder Wu was confused at the sudden change in Lu Chen. He had kept his hair long for the past three years, and the only time he would cut his hair was when there were split ends. Other than that, he would never cut it.

When the car stops at a red light, Elder Wu turns around to Lu Chen and wants to make sure, “Young master, are you sure that you want to cut your hair?”

“Elder Wu, I am sure. Having long hair is actually pretty annoying when washing it, and it’s hard to see as well. The weather is also getting hotter, so I would want a lighter hairstyle to not sweat as much. (Just saying, I don’t hate on long hair.)

“Young master, I’ll find you a suitable hair salon by the time school ends.” The light turns back to green, and Elder Wu went back to driving.

“Thank you, Elder Wu.”

“Young Master, you don’t have to thank me. As a butler, it’s my duty to support you.”

“ I still want to thank you.”

And a whole lot of other things as well. Lu Chen didn’t say anything else as he continues to look out the window.

Lu Chen understood why Elder Wu had questioned him on if he was actually getting a haircut or not. He couldn’t blame him for it. If Lu Chen was in Elder Wu’s shoes, he would have done the same thing.

Looking back on the reason, it was a pretty stupid reason. Lu Chen begins to chuckle about how he was in the past.
