Chapter 107 – Working at the dance hall (2)

Chu Qiao didn’t come from the front door. She went in through the back door and heard deafening disco music. Many people were frantically shaking their heads and enjoying themselves crazily on the dance floor. The flickering lights shone on their faces, which made them look very psychedelic. There was also a sense of decadence and indulgence.

Chu Qiao couldn’t help but to walk in accordance with the music’s rhythm. She found the backstage and saw Tang Yaozong, who was not bare-chested. He wore a plaid shirt and leather shoes, and was talking to a man in his early forties, who was wearing a white shirt.

The man had a medium height, he was a bit shorter than Tang Yaozong, and a bit thinner. He wore a pair of glasses. His bookish vibe did not match with the atmosphere of the dance hall.

“Big brother, I have found a person who plays the electronic organ. I will tell you first, this girl is the one I like to be my wife. If there is anyone who dares to mess with her, then I won’t be polite.”

The middle-aged man was Tang Yaozu, the big boss of the dance hall, and also the father of Tang Weiguo. Despite his image which looked like a refined scum, in fact, he didn’t know much about education. He wore flat glasses in order to pretend, to look profound.

But he had a good mother who could pick up a good wife for him. Tang Weiguo’s mother, Chang Jinfeng, was left alone at a very young age because of the war. Tang Weiguo’s grandmother happened to pick her up and took her home to be raised as a child bride.

The Tang family was very kind to Chang Jinfeng. She was properly raised by the family and she developed affection for them. Grandma Tang originally wanted to marry Chang Jinfeng out as her daughter.

Chang Jinfeng and Tang Yaozu fell in love, which was exactly what Grandma Tang wanted. However before they got married, the original Chang family came to the door. Chang Jinfeng suddenly changed from a local chicken to a phoenix, and the Tang family wouldn’t dare marry her.

But Chang Jinfeng was willing to marry, and the Old Mr. Chang was grateful to the Tang family for saving his daughter, so he made the decision to marry Chang Jinfeng to Tang Yaozu.

Tang Yaozu himself was a hard working person. Although he had the help of the Chang family,  it would be useless if he couldn’t help himself.

After the reformation of China, he stopped working professionally. First, he would sell contraband goods and after having some money, he opened the dance hall and established a trading company. The businesses were doing very well, and he could earn a lot everyday.

Caixia Dance Hall was just a profitable company under his name. After it was handed over to his younger brother, Tang Yaozong, he rarely came here. He would only come to visit every few days. Today, Tang Yaozong called him and asked him to come to see the new electronic organ player. He just happened to be free, so he came over to have a look.

Tang Yaozu and his younger brother were 15 years apart. He took the role of his older brother and also as his father. He didn’t take his remark seriously. This boy said the same thing before. But in the end, he just found a shady woman. He didn’t even take a second look. It was all disgusting, and it was definitely the same for this time. Although Yang Yaozu himself runs a dance hall, he couldn’t see the heart of the people, especially the women.

How could it be possible for a proper woman to come to a place like a dance hall?

That was what Tang Yaozu thought. The one called Chu Qiao must not be a proper woman.

“That’s why you asked me to come? Are you nuts?” Tang Yaozu glared angrily, and was about to leave. If he had time to listen to his brother’s nonsense, he might as well go home and watch TV with his wife.

“Big brother, what I said is true. Anyway, I have already said it to you first.”

Tang Yaozong groaned angrily, why didn’t anyone believe that he really wanted to marry a wife? In fact, he was very serious every time he found a partner. And this time, he showed a hundred percent of his sincerity.
