Chapter 198: Let Us Go

Air seems to be frozen for a few seconds when the two sides meet as they did not expect them to be here. Though one thing can be confirmed that they are not here to have a happy session of I say hi you say hi.

Yuri being the first one to react charged ahead smashing the head of an imperial guard into the walls breaking his neck instantly making him lay on the ground like a puddle of mud, then leapt out of the exit confronting the other guards giving them a smack on the face.

Seeing how terrifying the strength of this giant before them are, the guards gave up all unrealistic thoughts of trying to arrest these pack of suspicious people drawing their swords and spear out pointing towards these people, while a guard in the back ran out of barn to alert other guards and call for reinforcements.

"It is going to be okay." Seeing the women and children behind trembling in fear, Antonius comforted softly wiping his cutlass with his cloth.

Palailogina, as the eldest of the Mega Doux family, replied hugging her son. "Do not worry, Lord De'Ricci, my family have went through events that are much more horrendous than this one."

Anna nodded firmly giving Antonius a touch on the back of his hand looking at him. "Go, Lord De'Ricci, we shall await you here to avoid causing any trouble to you."

Antonius nodded and ran out of the exit with his men.

The fight ended pretty fast with almost everyone in Antonius' task force all being the best of the best, commendare out of the commendare giving them no time to drop all the guards on the ground in no time like having a piece of cake.

Foot steps accompanied with yelling, barking of dogs and moving light of torches came from a distance most probably being the arrival of Roman reinforcements. Antonius knows that in this urgent time there is no time for him to continue lingering around this place, without any mercy and hesitation he pushed the guard he is facing with a force he cannot resist making him fall backwards. The poor fellow fell backwards crashing his neck and head on a wooden plank losing consciousness instantly.

Teams after teams of Roman guards assembled and went chasing the pack of the suspicious personnel lurking around the traitor of the state's estate, who are described by the escaped guard as 'possible Ottoman spies coming here to save the Mega Doux's family members' to better serve the Ottoman Sultan.

The emperor, Constantine is once again woke up in the middle of the night by his servants. And upon hearing this piece of news all traces of sleepiness puffed from his mind making him crawling up from the bed almost running out of his room while his servant hurriedly followed behind taking the emperor's robes, crown, shoes and scepter.

"There is no time." The emperor hissed beneath his breathe. "There can only be one man who can do such things like this…"

"Emperor!" The guard bowed with sweat dripping from his face. "What do we do to him? Do we…"

He showed a hand sign of a knife.

The emperor stopped in his tracks thinking about it frowning, his servants finally caught the chance to catch up donning their majesty in all those dressings. "No… and yes… But no…"

"Emperor?"

After a while, the emperor sighed. "Yes, shoot and kill at sight."

Antonius and his gang have been chased all the way to the harbour with no where to retreat to. Behind them is the vast deep waters of the seas casted with a silver lining of the night, while ahead of them is the countless imperial soldiers creeping upon them in battle formation pointing at the group of intruders with their cross bow, fully loaded with bolts, with the only thing stopping them from shooting is that their emperor have not issued them the order to shoot and kill yet.

Antonius and his men retreated back to the wooden platform of the dock side, with Jacob Notaras almost falling off the edge of the port.

"Surrender! Intruders!" The captain of the guards cried out. "You have been surrounded! There are no where for you to run! Drop your weapons now and surrender! For we are merciful civilised good Christians that shall spare your life!"

"No where to go?" Antonius smirked.

Yuri behind him chortled as well and brought up a strange looking bronze tube setting it up on the ground. Followed by Abraham, who has been quiet just now, took out the flint that he always has been using for his rather bizarre habit of breathing in and out from a pipe with cannabis inside. He lit it up and threw the fire source into the bronze tube, sending a small but still blazing fire work into the night skies that can be seen from miles away.

The Roman guard commander felt something is coming and signalled moving his troops marching forward.

Suddenly, out of the vacant and quiet sea came a series of horn sounding off a far distance away scaring the sleeping sea gull awake sending them into the air in full vigilance like some big predators are coming.

Bird's instinct is always more acute than that of a man.

Minutes later, just as the Roman guards are about to lay their feet onto the same wooden platform as Antonius, a guard gaped exhaling and frantically poked the shoulder of his commander. Although his commander needs no reminder from his sub coordinates as he himself is shocked by what is happening before his eyes.

A fleet of ships, gigantic ships, large war galleys that flies no flags of a nation showed up off the coast in a straight line with their broadside facing them, making a giant great wall rooting up on the surface of the sea and what is unique about them is that different from their counterparts of the era, they have a lot of openings that looks like… windows? But it still makes the entre fleet look much threatening reflected by the moon light on the wavering water surface.

Antonius clapped. "Hey, soldiers, for me, I advice you to step back, relax, let us go, and we shall give you no trouble."
