The end of daily uploads. I’ll continue to post as scheduled starting next Tuesday (17 Jan)

“Let’s go out, the car is already downstairs. Chi Yunkai will go over there from his fanmeeting.” Fu Zhi said while holding his mobile phone.

Gu Wei had just finished posting on his Moments, but he still hadn’t recovered from the shock. He nodded in response a little distractedly, and followed his groupmates to the waiting nanny car downstairs.

Gu Wei wanted his groupmates to check their Moments page, so he took the initiative to bring up the topic of Jiang Xun—

“What kind of person is Jiang Xun?” he asked.

“Are you finally interested?” the leader Fu Zhi smiled, “when we were talking about him just now, I saw you kept swiping your phone.”

Gu Wei nodded.

“Jiang Xun is quite the special person.” Fu Zhi said, “he was supposed to enter the entertainment circle at first. He even had a lot of resources1as in, jobs like ads/drama scripts/etc waiting for him, but he decided he didn’t want to go.”

“Entertainment circle?” Gu Wei was puzzled, “he has something to do with the entertainment industry?”

“Look at his younger brother, you know that Jiang Ying’s resources are good, so there must be someone backstage who supports him.” Fu Zhi said, “Jiang Zheng, you know, that legendary actor? We watched his works while growing up. Well, that legendary actor is their father. He holds stocks in more than 10 media companies. So as long as Jiang Xun and Jiang Ying don’t make a huge mistake, they will always have a smooth path in the entertainment industry2basically the Jiang brothers are nepo babies.”

“So when that day Jiang Xun came out to like your trailer, those marketing accounts that hacked3spreading negative rumors you disappeared. Ran away with their tails tucked behind their legs and all that jazz.”

Gu Wei: “…”

This is truly some special reaction memes – the kind that cannot be offended.

“Look at this,” Luo Chenxuan handed over his phone, “Jiang Xun’s childhood work.”

Gu Wei leaned over and saw the video that Luo Chenxuan opened for him. It was a clip from a TV series. The baby version of the reaction meme was only about eleven or twelve years old. He was playing the role of a little emperor, dressed in a tailor-made Emperor’s robes. He sat on the dragon throne, facing his subjects who knelt on the ground. With an indifferent, cold expression, he overturned books and papers on a nearby table.

Fu Zhi said, “look at his amazing acting.”

Luo Chenxuan said, “look at his expressive eyes.”

Shi Xinyan said, “look at his handsome face.”

Gu Wei: “…”

Although he didn’t want to admit it, little Jiang Xun’s acting skills were indeed better than his third-tier acting skills.

“Look at his face, he doesn’t come from an ordinary family,” Luo Chenxuan said, “it can be said that he came from a special background. He participated in many films when he was young. But in his adolescence, he became rebellious and ran into the e-sports circle instead.”

“Then…didn’t his family object to this decision?” Gu Wei asked.

“Of course they objected.” Fu Zhi said, “such a good seedling, but he dedicated himself to e-sports instead. So many people cross this single-plank bridge of harsh competition, and look at how many of them are just nobodies until they retire. I heard that his mother is pretty supportive. And as for his father… well, he has a bad temper, so of course he was very crass about it.”

“At that time, many media outlets picked up on this matter, saying that such a legendary actor had somehow raised an useless son. But after a few years passed, Jiang Xun gradually achieved amazing results. Those gossips all disappeared then.”

Luo Chenxuan also agreed, “at the beginning, many people said that Jiang Xun was just playing around, but in fact, it’s clear Jiang Xun actually knew what he wanted the best.”

Gu Wei understood. This stubborn reaction meme actually had such a backstory.

And just a few years ago, e-sports hadn’t entered the public eye, it was indeed not regarded by many people as a proper job. What’s more, Jiang Xun had a wide, flowery path in front of him, but he insisted on reclaiming a wasteland instead.

For Jiang Xun to achieve today’s results, he must have put in hard work that others didn’t know about.

Gu Wei suddenly felt that Jiang Xun was actually a good person.

It was all a misunderstanding before. He could just explain it clearly on WeChat, so why did he accuse Jiang Xun instead in his Moments?

Gu Wei felt a little guilty.

He took out his mobile phone and decided to delete the slanderous essay he posted about Jiang Xun.

Before the phone screen was turned on, Fu Zhi, who was next to him, handed over his phone, “look, Chi Yunkai ran away from work to pet some dogs. There are so many huskies. Let’s go there together someday.”

Chi Yunkai took a selfie among a group of huskies. He posted it on his Moments to show off his friends.

The Moments post was timestamped 12:59.

Gu Wei took the leader’s cell phone, swiped up, and then swiped down, but he didn’t see the post he sent earlier.

The time he posted was 13:30. If no one else posted during this time, his post should be above Chi Yunkai’s selfie post.

But on Fu Zhi’s phone, the most recent post was Chi Yunkai’s.

His reaction meme diatribe was nowhere to be found.

Gu Wei: “Did you remove me as a friend?”

Fu Zhi: “??? Nope.”

Gu Wei’s hands trembled, he grabbed his phone, opened his WeChat’s Moments page, and saw the message he had just posted not long ago.

Nothing’s wrong here.

It was successfully sent out.

“What did you send?” Shi Xinyan asked, “I didn’t receive it either.”

Gu Wei suddenly had a bad feeling.

Under the shadow of this foreboding premonition, he bit the bullet and clicked the icon of his post.

In the list of friends for whom this post was visible, there was a very… familiar… Pikachu con.

Other than that, there was no one else.

Gu Wei: “!!!”

He seemed to have done something bad again.

Gu Wei originally wanted to block Jiang Xun from seeing this post, but he was a little flustered at the time, and inexplicably set it so only Jiang Xun could see it instead.

Gu Wei quickly deleted the incriminating post. Seeing the nine memes disappeared from his sight, Gu Wei breathed a sigh of relief.

Fortunately, he deleted it quickly. Jiang Xun probably hadn’t seen it yet.

Who can bear the sheer embarrassment had he seen it?

Suddenly, his phone vibrated, and a new message popped up on the top of the screen.

[One Hundred Thousand Volts]: [screenshot] I have evidence.

Gu Wei: “…”

Shit.

Holding on his last hope, he covered his eyes with his right hand, and peeked through his fingers to see the message Jiang Xun was sending—

[One Hundred Thousand Volts]: Little Gu, is it itchy?

[One Hundred Thousand Volts]: Your butt that is, for a spanking.
