Chapter 36: The Führer and Ayame-san

The extravagant corridor of the Führer’s ship, Fugaku.

I and Ayame walk there side by side… Until a little while ago, I was tied up in bondage play, so my wrists hurt a little bit.

And then…

“Ayame-san, is it true that you went to Lycanvania alone?”

“Oh, did you hear that? I didn’t want Eryu-san to be worried, that’s why I kept quiet about it…”

“Roshana-san told me about it. She told me that you went to the enemy city alone and went on a rampage.”

I don’t know the details.

That’s because I was tied with ropes on a bed in the bedroom of Fugaku by Ayame, who had suddenly gotten into bondage play, and I couldn’t move.

But later, Roshana-san told me that after tying me up, Ayame went to the Royal Capital of Lycanvania by herself and went on a rampage.

Something about the king’s supervisor and how the king tried to escape… then when she came to her senses, the prince apparently had surrendered.

I don’t understand why.

Well, what can I say, the war is over, but…

“Ayame-san, please don’t do anything too dangerous?”

“There is no need to worry, Eryu-san. As a maid, I have mastered all kinds of martial arts in order to protect my master.”

Saying that, Ayame begins to count the skills she possesses on her fingers.

Pistol shooting, rifle shooting, artillery, knife combat, fencing, close-quarters combat, and more…

“Steel Wire Technique― It’s a technique that uses a thin wire to tear your enemies apart. It’s customary for maids and butlers.”

Swoosh, Ayame-san waves her hand and a nearby vase is suddenly cut in half.

That’s the famous string-user thing from manga and anime…I wonder what kind of principle is behind that.

And then… Ayame continues.

“For that situation, it would be more efficient for me to control the situation by myself rather than sending in special forces, considering the potential risk of them seizing our modern weaponry.”

Mmm…

Certainly, it would be more efficient to send someone who can use such steel wire techniques, considering the risk of having them steal our firearms.

But, that’s not good.

“Losing Ayame is a much bigger disadvantage than having our weapons stolen. Ayame-san is a girl, so don’t do anything dangerous. I won’t forgive you if you go anywhere without permission.”

“That’s… Does that mean you want me to be with you all the time? When taking a bath or going to the restroom, even when going to bed? I’ll be happy to stay with you if Eryu-san wants me to…”

It’s good that she is listening.

Well, to begin with, we are always together 24/7, whether in the bathroom, in the restroom, or even when we are going to sleep.

Rather, can’t you just do something about it when I go to the restroom? You even invaded the private stall I was in… As expected, I don’t like it.

Well, when it comes to Ayame-san, I’ll try to figure it out later… Can you really solve this problem?

“Wouldn’t it be all resolved if Eryu-san and I were to get married?”

“…Please don’t read my mind. Also, that won’t solve anything.”

I’m not sure if my privacy will be protected even if we get married anyway.

Besides, something like being married is…

It’s not that I don’t like Ayame-san, and it’s not that I don’t have feelings for her, but, you know, I just think it’s too early.

Then…

I ask a question to Ayame-san. Just why did she go to Lycanvania alone?

“Ayame-san, did you know that Lycan II would try to escape, and that…”

“Prince Leon will assassinate the king? Yeah, I knew that to a certain extent.”

That king will not surrender until his life is on the line. And if he sees even the slightest opportunity to escape, he will start running away.

Ayame-san shared her thoughts with me.

“When Eryu-san sends him to get the king’s seal, it’s almost certain that he’ll run away. Whether Prince Leon will assassinate him or not is…”

Mostly just a prediction, Ayame continues.

“I wish he was a reasonable person, that he would honestly admit defeat if it was for the nation’s best interest… But, as you can see from the result.”

Are you saying that you went over there to finish off the king?”

“Yes. This allowed us to successfully reach a peace agreement. I think it is safe to say that the operation ‘Shock and Awe’ is almost complete…”

Hmm…

Other than that Lycan II was more stubborn than we expected… Well, I think it is safe to say that Operation ‘Shock and Awe’ was a success since it seems that we did not have to massacre all Beastvania citizens.

It just…

This operation was not perfect either.

To demonstrate our strength, we must crush the enemy’s main force. Therefore, we must wait for the enemy army to move.

In other words, it’s a lack of aggressiveness.

Most importantly, it wastes an awful lot of time, which is more precious than gold.

Considering that similar wars are likely to be fought in the future…

“…It’s not a hundred percent perfect result. There are still many areas for improvement in our army. Let’s do some reform when we get back to our home country.”

“Military expansion? If Eryu-san wishes to…”

“We will not increase the quantity. Instead, we aim to improve the quality.”

Yamato Empire currently has only World War I-level armaments.

Whether it’s firepower, breaching capability, or maneuverability, everything is still lacking.

We haven’t yet made enough technological progress to achieve brilliant victories in a short period of time― the kind of triumphs that would overwhelm the rest of the world.

We have a certain minimum level of tanks, and we are still an army with a doctrine that specializes in trench warfare.

And…

“This world infrastructure itself needs to be improved as well… What is the situation in the Kingdom of Balka?”

“Balka is it? Um, just a moment, please.”

Rummaging around, Ayame-san pulls out a notepad from one of her pockets.

“The construction of the railroad network has begun under the direction of the Empire.”

Railroad construction…

Well, it’s a must. Without railroads, it would be difficult to operate large armies.

Balka is an important base for the future fight against the barbarian nation of the Great Moruro Empire, which controls the giant lizards, and the development of infrastructure must be a top priority…

However, there is one problem.

“There’s no technology leakages, right?”

“Rest assured, management is entrusted to the Empire… and we have sent the Imperial Guard and the Secret Police there.”

After all, it’s about the leak of technology that the Empire prides itself on.

Technology is difficult to invent but surprisingly easy to imitate… But, what is this Secret Police, anyway?

Administratively, there should be no such organization.

Are these organizations related to the Imperial Guard?

I wonder if it’s okay…

“Everything, no matter what. I and the Imperial Guard will solve the problem. Eryu-san, you can rest assured and go ahead with the peace negotiations.”

“…I know I can count on you, Ayame-san.”

“I haven’t lived that long, you know. Come on, I can spoil you more, no? Do you want me to snuggle you?”

Ayame spreads her arms wide and says, “Come.”

Uh, let’s have a hug then, shall we?

……Oh, Roshana-san, what’s the matter?

What are we doing, you see, it’s sort of like we’re just hugging each other… In the middle of the hallway, but, well, there is no one watching us.

Uh, do you want to join us, Roshana-san?

“You can’t, Eryu-san is mine.”

……And Ayame-san says no.

Ah, don’t make a blatantly disappointed face… I wonder why Roshana-san wants to get included in such a perverted act.

Are you up to something bad?

I don’t have a map or anything, but do you know where the countries are?

Well, the author is so bad at drawing that he can’t draw a map even if people want one…
