Chapter 172 Events At Carmilla House (3)

Lukas considered himself as a chill and cool guy. Even before he had met Chaerin, Lily or gotten into all the 'Lukas, you're a Vampire' event… he mostly didn't stand out and just kept to himself.

He was content with his life. Or so he'd like to think.

Using narrative games and the like to fill up his time when he wasn't busy with work.

Lukas didn't actively went out of his way to like other people, but neither did he go out of his way to dislike them either.

They were mostly just there, present but an inconsequential part of his life.

Of course, he was using all up his energy to interact with people and be on top of things. Whether it had been escaping with his life from Drusilla's test, not falling into the traps of Rhea's dreamscape world to even just dealing with Theodore or Alexei, he was mostly on top of things.

That just went to show how cool of a guy he really was, and even Chaerin and Lily had complimented him about it.

But that didn't mean that he never lost his cool.

"Nah. I'm cool with you offering my girlfriend with a seat, but I just don't think you're very happy with us here at all." Lukas shrugged and pulled out his own chair, plopping down to take a seat.

"If that had been the case, then it surprises me that you've still chosen to sit down." Elias wore a smile, but then shook his head with a sigh. "I was simply trying to be polite. Forgive me if it appears like I am acting untowards to your girlfriend. I have no intention, whatsoever."

Chaerin coughed but finally settled down in the chair.

"Thank you. I'm sure that Lukas is glad to hear that… we're just here for our friends. We don't really expect to stay long."

"You didn't have to tell him that." Lukas sighed, but then snapped himself out. "But yeah, appreciate the gesture. Let's be chill now."

The reason why he had avoided Theodore back when the guy was being all friendly and chummy at Blood Works was the exact reason why he wasn't so fond of Elias at the moment.

Whenever people tried to be something they weren't exactly not, it just rubbed Lukas in the wrong way.

"Of course… but what is it about not staying long?" Elias raised a brow. "Your friends will be introduced and if you think that the two of them can simply show themselves and leave is a whimsical idea."

"Introduced?" Lukas paused.

"Yes, the reason why we came here." Elias glanced away from the table and up the grand staircase. "Did you forget all about it?"

"I… I thought they had been in trouble." Lukas recalled Rhea's words and what Elias said mostly had slipped his mind. Was this a really good idea?

Chaerin also frowned. "If there's anyone who'd be against this, then it'd be Theodore… but I don't think he's actually done anything to stop them, right? He may have thought it was a good idea. I'm sure he probably thought it through, Lukas."

Lukas had been ready to stand up and make his way into the more private areas of the Carmilla House to go look for the two siblings and Theodore.

"We've already gone through the fact that the Carmilla House is not bad or anything. Of course, my grandfather insists otherwise, but I've recently come at peace with the fact that not every good thing that he sees is actually the complete truth." Elias said.

Lukas saw the man's pointed stare at him and knew the beef.

"Alright, alright… I'll sit this one out myself then." Lukas said and crossed his arms.

It didn't feel right to do this, he had an urge to stand up and go look for them and the Dream Eater who floated at his side was just at his beck and call.

"I won't be looking for them." Rhea crossed her arms. "You haven't even really… paid me what you owed me, so you can't make me budge."

Lukas glanced up at the spirit and remembered that he promised her blood. It was an interesting thing that she was interested in it that Lukas almost wanted to excuse himself to go somewhere else and privately share his blood while checking the system to see its effects.

'Of course.' Lukas replied and tried not to pay much attention to the knife at the table.

This was Stacy and Alexei's chance to turn their life into something more, and while Lukas wanted and would hold Stacy to uphold her promise to help with Lily's condition, he wouldn't also stop her if she wanted this.

That was what it meant to be a good friend.

He just wanted to make sure that things would work out okay.

"Ladies and gentlemen." A beautiful Vampire lady appeared at the top of the staircase. Rowena Carmilla's gaze swept across the room, taking in the sight of the crowd while a spotlight shone on her.

Lukas noticed the entire room suddenly go pitch black, a darkness that made everyone's eyes go up to the center stage.

Elias looked everywhere for his grandfather and became uneasy. He should have been here for this event and yet he was still nowhere to be found and it made him antsy.

"I'll excuse myself for a moment." Elias sat up, and luckily, people didn't pay him much heed.

"Hey, where are you going?" Lukas hissed silently.

Chaerin glanced at the two men and tried not to look away, though Rowena Carmilla continued to entertain and welcome the guests of the night.

"It's none of your business." Elias tried to say.

"Fine." Lukas said, but then also stood up and smiled.

"Where are you going?" Elias' brow shot up.

"It's none of your business too." Lukas said but then glanced at Chaerin. "I'll be uh, right back. Just have to uh, check something real quick."

"I think Stacy and Alexei are about to come out now though—"

And she turned out to be right.
