102 No Movement.

The soldiers looked at the house with an anxious expression, they could not understand why the old man stopped making noises, however, if he would have engaged the enemy, there must be some noise, and this utter silence was possible in one scenario.

Just when the captain of the guard team was about to hit the dead end of his wits, he heard chaotic footsteps approaching them. Vulcan and Vertex have arrived. The captain did not delay and made them aware of the situation. The duke and the prince frowned, they did not expect it to be like this.

Vertex looked around and found that his blood guards have also come over. He thought for a while and then asked, “What is the method to break free from the spell of the Charming Fox?”

Vulcan said, “A strong mental interference or a sleep.”

He was not ignorant and was aware of such things. His experience was the key. The duke was a vigorous boy in his youth and would travel as a merchant to learn things, and thus he gained a lot of knowledge.

The second prince nodded and said, “A strong mental interference will be some sort of collision on the head, however, if it was too strong, then it could also kill the other party. Any suggestions on how to do this?”

Snare thought for a bit and said, “Your Highness, you can cast a wind spell and stun the target without leaving any harm.”

Vertex nodded and said, “Well, then let us enter the house and search.”

Following that Vertex and Snare entered the room. The duke was left outside in case of emergency. The inside of the house was anything but ordinary, the dim light reflecting on the decoration indicated that it was owned by a rich person. Vertex and Snare stood in the center of a hall after stepping inside the door.

.....

A chandelier hung from the ceiling emitting gentle light as the candles burned on the hooks. Snare said with a single hand sign as he held his sword with another, ‘Your Highness, stay behind me, and try not to make any big sounds.’

Vertex nodded and then the two people moved through the house. They were not fast, but they were steady, their feet did not make any sound at all. They explored the first floor but they did not find any sign of activity and they also did not find any trace of Quies.

They found a staircase leading to the second floor, and Snare could tell that something was wrong as soon as he set a foot on the steps. He put his sword back and took out a set of throwing knives. Vertex noticed this and immediately started to gather the wind mana, and was ready to cast a spell.

As they reached the top of the stairs they found Quies standing there but his expression was indifferent. Snare reacted and the throwing knife in his hand flew. Vertex on the other hand did not waste any time and said, “Ventus Pungus.”

The wind gathered in front of him in the shape of a punch and shot forward. The punch would act as a strong mental interference and Quies will wake up. Vertex cast this spell so that he could stun Quies, but this old man was not so easy to deal with, he was a veteran, and as soon as he sensed the attack, he dodged.

Snare was not weak as well, he threw the knives held in his hands swiftly as well. They were all aimed at positions where Quies could have moved to dodge, he blocked his exit completely. Vertex was also experienced in battle and he would not let go of such a chance set for him.

He again cast the spell and a punch flew to hit Quies on the temples. The spell was so powerful that the old man was thrown to the side. His body hit the wall and he slumped to the floor. However, he did not lose consciousness, he said in a weak voice, “They have a Dream Serpent.”

Snare and Vertex were shocked, the second prince said, “Take him, and we will leave this place.”

Snare nodded and quickly appeared beside Quies, knocked him out, and moved out of the house quickly with Vertex. If not, they would have almost died.

...

Valerian was unaware of all these things, he was still lying on the crown of the tree, unconscious. The charm fox sat next to him, she noticed that a jade-like vine was coiled around his wrist and she could sense great healing power emitting from it.

Being close to this human could heal her a little as well. After a couple of hours, the vine retreated back inside the trunk, just like it had appeared, and Valerian slowly opened his eyes. He looked around and memories rushed back to him. He sat up and found a white fox looking at him warily.

He looked around but did not find any human. He opened his mouth and let out a bark, the fox was so shocked that it jumped in the void and took a few steps back. If not for the fact that this beast was not very good at climbing trees, it might have fled already.

Valerian let out the barking sounds again, but this time he was really gentle. The charming fox did not believe it, how can a human talk to her directly, for a second she thought this human put a spell on her.

However, when she recalled how this guy made those other humans die, she calmed down and resignedly replied, ‘What can I help you with, Sire?’

Yes, she submitted it to Valerian. The boy did not pay any attention to her address, and asked, ‘Where are those humans?’

The fox replied, ‘They jumped off the tree, sire.’

Valerian was shocked, he did not know why those people would do such a thing, he could only account for this to the voice that he heard before he lost consciousness. He conversed with the fox but the beast said that she did not know. He did not gain anything from the conversation so he did not push the topic any further and asked, ‘Do you have a name?’

The fox shook her head and Valerian said, ‘It is odd to talk to you without a name, how about I call you Silk, from now on?’

The charming fox was surprised that this human gave her a name, but when she repeated the name in her mind a few times, she did not find it odd, as if it was natural to her, and nodded in acceptance.

Valerian asked, ‘Do you know where the other group of humans is?’

‘Sire, the other group went to the human city, they have a dream serpent with them. That beast is stronger than me and can control a lot of humans.’, replied silk.

Valerian raised his eyebrows and thought to himself. He said, ‘Can you let go of the beasts you have controlled?’

Silk nodded and said, ‘Can you take me along with you, Sire? I can help you with this.’

Valerian thought about it, and he knew that a fox was a clever beast, however, since he did not sense any malice from the beast, he nodded. He stood up, checked his short sword, and gently picked up the fox gently in his arms.

He did not have much time to waste so he ran to the edge of the tree and jumped. The charming fox was shocked, and the fear grasped her heart so tightly that she even forgot to struggle. Just when they were a few meters away from the ground, Valerian cast a wind movement spell and they were propelled forward, Valerian crossed the distance of ten meters horizontally before he landed on the ground.

He did not stop but ran with the fox in his arms, the speed was fast and his reactions were decisive. The charming fox was impressed by his ability. It took an hour before they reached the place where Valerian had met the wolves. He was slightly out of breath now.

However, he did not waste too much time, after five minutes he rushed forward again. The sun was coming up on the horizon slowly, and the bad premonition in his heart was getting bigger with every passing second. He could tell that something bad was about to happen.

As soon as he reached the end of the beast tide, he said to Silk, ‘Do your thing.’

Silk let out a bark and Valerian let her out of his embrace, he said, ‘After you are done, come at the city gates, I will have a soldier lead you to me.’

The beast nodded and then rushed forward, she was going to clear a way for Valerian, and one had to say, this beast was a terrifying enemy, as she passed through the beast tide, the chaos began to calm down slowly.

...

Inside the city, Vulcan was glaring at the door and thinking, ‘Why have they not come out yet?’

Yes, it has been a few minutes since the people went inside, but now there was no sign of movement.
