11. Wounded (1)

The sky was dark, and the dull thunder gradually rolled down from the sky. A damp and cool wind blew into the dense forest. The leaves rustled in the wind, and the sound of thunder enveloped the entire area, which was particularly alarming.

Yu Qingjia looked up at the sky, looking a bit worried, “It’s going to rain… If we can’t get out of this forest, what should we do at night?”

Murong Yan didn’t seem bothered about finding a shelter from the rain. He didn’t even smile, he seemed to be listening to the sound of something.

There was another thunderclap, and this time, he finally heard some movements, the other side tried to cover up the sound of their footsteps under the sound of thunder, and he only discovered it now!

A dark arrow suddenly flew out of the dense forest, and Yu Qingjia, who was the target, was still ignorant. She didn’t even realize what was happening before she was violently pounced on. She was caught off guard and fell on the thick fallen leaves, while Murong Yan took her and rolled around with her on the ground. He then placed her behind a two-person thick ancient tree. She leaned her back on the rough bark of the tree, still stunned. She saw Murong Yan half-kneeling beside her, his eyes fixed outside. A dark and sullen bloodthirsty air surged up in his pupils.

“Vixen…”

“We have companions.”

Murong Yan’s eyes were still motionless. He was quietly staring at the dense forest, without looking at the dagger that was untied from his waist, he threw it towards Yu Qingjia, “Run forward, run as far as you can.”

Yu Qingjia looked at the dagger that landed in front of her, not even daring to take it, “What about you?”

Murong Yan had already taken out a few parts from the pocket of his sleeve, and quickly assembled them into a sleeve arrow with his fingers. He did not pay attention to her question at all. Yu Qingjia just blinked, and saw that he had already moved behind another tree trunk. She gritted her teeth, even though she was afraid, she still grabbed the hilt of the dagger with force and whispered, “Is there anything I can do to help?”

Murong Yan didn’t expect to hear her say those words, he was stunned for a moment, and then snorted disdainfully, “Northern Tribesmen never use Women and children to hunt. Hurry up and leave, you will only drag me down if you’re with me.”

Yu Qingjia wanted to say something else, but he had already walked away without looking back. She looked at the exquisitely crafted dagger in her hand, gritted her teeth, got up from the ground, and followed Murong Yan’s example. She ran from behind one tree to another, and stumbled forward.

The rumbling thunder became even more intense, and finally bean-sized raindrops fell from the sky. There is no place to take shelter in the forest, the completely darkened forest is like a giant beast with its mouth wide open, and there seem to be countless eyes lurking in the darkness. Yu Qingjia was scared and cold. She was biting her lips to death, and tears still rolled down from her eyes.

She held the dagger tightly in front of her chest. In fact, she did not even know how to use this dagger. In the past 14 years of her life, she had never even seen a chicken get killed. But at this time, she also had to clutch the cold and exquisite dagger tightly, while trying her best to walk as quietly and swiftly as possible.

In the end, she doesn’t know whether it was because of the rain or her tears, her eyes could not bear to open at all. She stopped under an old tree with a huge canopy and looked back at the dead silence of the forest behind her.

Even though the tree canopy could shield her from the rain, there were still constant rain droplets running across her cheeks. It was winding into a line of water that stayed on her chin for a moment and finally integrated into a rounded water droplet that fell to the ground with a clatter. Her hair has been completely wet, now it was damp and sticky on her face. Which made her already fair skin, and long eyelashes, wash away all the lead decoration off, making her feel soft and clear.

Yu Qingjia looked at the forest behind her. Her eyes were indescribably worried, she could not help but shout softly at the dark forest behind her, “Vixen?”

However, how can one expect a response? She gritted her teeth, and even though she was scared to death because of the darkness and unknown assassins, she still groped her way back towards her original path.

Of course she knew how risky it was to go back. Maybe an assassin was following that path to find and track her at the moment. However, she took away the vixen’s dagger, although the vixen had a sleeve arrow on her, but if he were to fight in close combat, he does not have a weapon to use, and it will be too disadvantageous for her. In any case, she can not leave the vixen alone.

Yu Qingjia did not dare to make too much noise so as not to attract the assassins, but she was still afraid that the vixen was hiding somewhere and might miss her. She held on to the trunk of the tree all the way and called out “Vixen.” over and over again in a low voice. Because of the fear and the cold, her voice trailed off sounding life she was about to cry, and she did.

Yu Qingjia was crying and looking around when she finally kicked something warm. She was so scared that she screamed in her throat and suddenly covered it up. She didn’t even dare to think what she had just kicked. She shivered and shouted, “Vixen, where are you?”

There was only the bleak and cold autumn wind around, and there was no echo. Yu Qingjia was terrified, but she still had the guts to squat down and try to see the face of the corpse under her feet.

She stared at it with wide-eyes in the darkness. She was trying to recognize its appearance for a long time, and finally saw that the other party was wearing a different set of clothing, not like the familiar set of Hu Clothing that the vixen was fond of using. She did not know whether she should be afraid or feel relieved. Tears poured down her cheeks, she no longer dared to look at the dead corpse. She hurriedly got up, and looked around for Murong Yan’s whereabouts.

Yu Qingjia kept calling Murong Yan’s name, and finally heard a familiar voice behind an ancient tree, “I’m here.”

She froze for a moment. He was there? Then why didn’t he say anything just now?

Yu Qingjia hurriedly ran over and found Murong Yan leaning against the tree, but he was obviously seriously injured. She couldn’t care less about what happened just now, she rushed over and wanted to help him but didn’t know where to start, “Vixen you… where are you hurt? Are you okay?”

Murong Yan used his uninjured hand to support himself on the ground. He looked like he was trying to stand up, Yu Qingjia hurriedly ran to hold him. However Murong Yan’s weight was so much heavier than she thought, and the two tossed and turned for a long time before they could finally stand up panting.

“Why did you come back?”

Yu Qingjia was stunned before she reacted to the fact that Murong Yan was asking her. She suddenly found the question unspeakably strange, “Of course I’ll come back, you’re still here.”

Murong Yan did not believe this answer. Just now, in order to deal with the assassin, he tried his best not to dodge the sword and shot the assassin with a sleeve arrow. He coated the arrow with poison and it was indeed the right move. The assassin was poisoned and died eventually. Although he managed to survive, he still suffered some injuries.
