10. Blood (2)

“Oh.” Yu Qingjia was stunned for a moment, “No, who are you to order me?”

Murong Yan ordered people so naturally, as if he was born to do so. The people around him were also unconsciously affected by this aura, even if they were not his servants, they could not help but listen to his arrangements. Yu Qingjia stood on the same spot looking indignant, but she knew that now is not the time to fuss about this, so although she was furious, she still complied with his instructions and picked up useful clothes, and packages.

She had just gathered several pieces of cloth and silk into one big parcel when a mournful cry suddenly came to her ears. She was immediately startled and hurriedly ran towards the direction of the sound. As soon as she ran over, she saw thin streaks of blood dripping from Murong Yan’s dagger, and the remaining breath of the horse had been completely extinguished.

Yu Qingjia was stunned. She was unable to comprehend this scene in front of her, “Why did you kill it? It was still alive.”

“It can no longer walk, so why not kill it. Do you want to leave it for the pursuers?”

“But you already said that it can’t walk anymore, even if the pursuers find it, they won’t be able to use it. On the contrary, if this horse is found by a nearby farmer, and finds a way to carry it back for medical treatment, there may still be a way for it to live.”

Horses are quite expensive, and ordinary people can’t simply afford to raise them, so if it was found by a nearby farmer or hunter, they will probably try to save it even just for its expensive price. After Murong Yan heard her words, he smiled lightly and said, “Then all the more reason to kill it. What I have, even if I don’t want it anymore, can’t fall into other people’s hands.”

Yu Qingjia stared at the person in front of her with wide eyes. He was exquisitely beautiful, and he was even smiling when he said these words. But such a person, who seemed to have gathered all the beauty of the world into his person, had such a vicious heart.

Yu Qingjia didn’t know why a wave of anger suddenly surged up into her. She turned around and continued searching for her belongings with a cold expression. She did not chatter around like she did when they just arrived.

The two of them walked quietly in the dense forest, their ears can only hear the sound of their footsteps, and there were sounds of unknown insects chittering about, sometimes closer and sometimes far. Murong Yan’s footsteps suddenly halted, a pair of flying harsh eyes slowly swept through the surrounding trees.

Murong Yan’s expression was very serious, and Yu Qingjia, even though she had made up her mind not to talk to him anymore, could not help but be affected by his sudden alertness. She asked nervously, “What’s wrong?”

“Someone’s following us.”

An assassin dressed in concealment moved silently among the trees. His feet stepped on more than an inch of accumulated fallen leaves, surprisingly without making any sound.

He quietly and silently tracked the two women in front of him, although they’re not their target, but out of prudence, their master still sent someone to settle Yu Wenjun’s female relatives. The assassin had been following them for quite a while before suddenly losing track of them for some reason. He was carefully checking up their traces on the road, when suddenly his eyes were fixed, and saw not far ahead, the woman in a long red dress was holding a tree and stumbling forward.

It is her. Yu Wenjun’s daughter is really such a rare beauty, what a pity. The assassin wordlessly drew out his dagger and quickly dived towards Yu Qingjia.

Yu Qingjia stood in front, with cold sweats on her palms. In the fourteen years of her boudoir life, she had never been to such a wild forest, let alone being hunted down. Even during her most difficult years inside the ancestral home, she was only verbally abused, but she was still able to live the life of the Sixth Young lady of the Yu Family, and had sufficient food, clothing and shelter.

She was born with high hopes from her parents, and was treated like a jewel by the both of them ever since she was young. Bai Zhi and others took good care of her the same way as well. Even though she was born during troubled times, she was still able to grow up in an environment full of security and love.

When had she ever experienced such a dangerous situation? Not only did she have to expose her back, but also pretend that nothing happened and continue to walk forward, not showing the slightest nervousness and fear. With her back turned, she didn’t even know the current location of the assassins. And she could only trust a person who was a year older than her and who had a long-standing grudge with her.

Yu Qingjia didn’t know how long she had been walking, when she faintly heard the sound of a sharp blade piercing flesh behind her. Her knees immediately went weak. She couldn’t stand it any longer and fell directly to the ground.

Her hands shivered as she braced herself and reluctantly looked back. She had to know who won at least.

The sky had gradually dimmed, and the impermeable forest became even more isolated from the gradually moving time. The smell of fallen leaves and decay lingers inside the forest. The darkness is like a tidal wave that slowly pervades from the tree trunks. In this half-dim environment, she finally saw a figure standing sideways to her, with narrow sleeves cinched around his waist, looking so handsome from the side, but his movements were not so handsome at all. She looked down at his hands, which were long and white. It was beautiful like a work of art, but when he ambushed the assassin, these hands were inevitably splattered with blood.

There was still warm blood flowing along the palm of his hands. Murong Yan looked at his fingers, and could not help but slowly clench and loosen it. Sweet crimson blood gradually covered his entire hand.

He was greatly fascinated by the sight. When a soft and melodious voice suddenly came to his ears, perhaps because she was nervous, Her voice trailed off tremblingly, “V-vixen.”

Yu Qingjia was standing ten feet away and was looking at him nervously. Murong Yan watched her slowly approach him, and tentatively hold his wrist. Her fingertips were thus quickly stained with bright red blood.

Yu Qingjia stared at him with wide eyes. They looked so moist and pitiful. She tugged at his wrist, and said, “It’s getting late, let’s go.”

The way the vixen stares at the blood without saying anything really scared her.

The blood was getting colder, but her palm was still warm. Her palm was right over Murong Yan’s pulse, and as the pulse beat, her warmth immediately spread throughout his entire body.

His pupils were emanating a faint blue light but still looked at her for a while and slowly nodded, “Okay.”
