"Ning Ning, you should be taught a lesson.” (2)

When he heard Lin Yu He brought up these matters, he was still in a daze from his son’s indifference. Now when he heard it from Wu Xin’s mouth, he finally understood the severity of the situation.

Setting aside the seriousness of wiretapping any audio related to a high-profile man like Lu Nan, Lin Feng was more baffled by why his wife put surveillance on his son. However, he didn’t have the chance to ask.

Fang Mu Sen said immediately after Wu Xin ended her speech, “Since you understand, then why are you collecting information about the Lu family?”

Wu Xin wanted to explain but was stopped short when she saw Fang Mu Sen take out a folder. He continued while staring straight at her, “These are the client information and the details of their request given to us by the Zhilin Investigation Agency. Need any more proof?”

His tone was flat but it made Wu Xin feel guilty and her face fell. She explained frantically, “We’re only trying to find something for Yu He and help him understand-”

She was cut short by Fang Mu Sen. “Help him? Whether it’s helping or harming him, I’m sure Mdm. Wu understands. Do you think the Lu family in Hong Kong won’t find out if we can find out? Investigating them privately behind their backs will only ruin the impression they have of their grandson-in-law, Mr. Lin.”

Wu Xin didn’t dare to look at Fang Mu Sen in the eye. Her gaze was constantly shifting anywhere but him as she forced a smile on her face. “How can we harm him? We’re his parents-”

“Parents?” Fang Mu Sen interrupted her once again.

He smiled coldly, “A parent who puts a price tag on their son to be sold off? Mdm. Wu, should I list out how many people have you promoted Mr. Lin to, before Mr. Lu?”

Wu Xin was frozen stiff, and Lin Feng at the side looked at her in surprise as he asked, “What promotion? What does it mean? What’s going on?”

Wu Xin couldn’t bring herself to speak and neither did Fang Mu Sen respond to him. The latter only fixed his sleeve cuff and then said, “There’s no need for you two to worry about Mr. Lin’s matters. Please just mind yourselves.”

Lin Feng quickly said, “How can we not care about Xiao He’s matters? We-”

He stopped abruptly in the middle of the sentence when Fang Mu Sen made eye contact with him. The young man who seemed polite and gentlemanly suddenly held a gaze as sharp as knives, and cold as ice.

“Mr. Lin, it’s funny that you say this now,” Fang Mu Sen said coldly.

Lin Feng wanted to counter but he couldn’t find any word to. Wu Xin who stood at the side was pale but forced herself to speak. “Assistant Fang, what do you mean by that? Mind ourselves? Are you threatening us? We signed the contract-”

Fang Mu Sen wasn’t as cold as he was toward Lin Feng when he shifted his focus to Wu Xin. He spoke calmly. “The contract stated to assist Lin Pharmaceuticals to stabilize their foundations. Nothing about this will change. However, we will not interfere if some other companies take action. We gave you a chance when we warned you last time, Mdm. Wu. Unfortunately, you wasted it.”

Wu Xin had an unsightly look on her face after Fang Mu Sen said everything clearly. She wanted to say something but the sound of her phone ringing interrupted her.

She felt an ominous hunch when she saw the number calling her. Immediately, she answered the call and a sharp voice entered her ear. “Sis! Something happened to the company! Come over quickly!”

Wu Xin’s body shook and her face turned paler than before. She doubled over and vomited before she could reply to the caller. Lin Feng quickly went to her side and supported her. “Ah Xin!”

The sound of someone yelling and the vomiting sounds blended together into a symphony of chaos. However, Fang Mu Sen didn’t bat a single eyelid and left without turning back.

The car was parked in the basement parking lot. Fang Mu Sen wanted to get onto the car and leave but was surprised to find someone standing next to the car. He reverted to his usual polite tone as he asked, “Mr. Lin? Why are you still here?”

“Mr. Lu went to grab something. He told me to wait here,” Lin Yu He answered.

His voice was a little muffled due to the mask he was wearing. He was still wearing Lu Nan’s scarf and the hood of his wool shirt was also pulled over his head. The strings of his hood hung on the side of his face, creating an outward appearance that melts peoples’ hearts.

Since it was Lu Nan’s decision, Fang Mu Sen didn’t ask further but he asked another question, “Why didn’t you wait in the car?”

“It’s a bit stuffy in there, I wanted to take a breather,” Lin Yu He explained.

Fang Mu Sen wanted to add some more but was a little startled when he spotted a figure sneaking around from the corner of his eye. He was silent for a while then changed the topic when he spoke again. “Mr. Lin was Mdm. Is Wu always this way to you? Or is it a recent change in attitude?”

Lin Yu He didn’t react to the new topic in time, “Huh?”

Fang Mu Sen continued to direct the topic. “Did you notice any changes in her recently?”

“Oh, a little. It’s most probably because of her pregnancy,” Lin Yu He answered after giving it some thought.

Fang Mu Sen was taken aback by his answer and asked hesitantly, “You knew?”

“Oh? Mr. Fang knew too?” Lin Yu He continued, “Well, I’m a medical student. The early stages of her pregnancy have obvious signs such as mood swings, short temper, and diet intake. Plus, I overheard her telling my father about the pregnancy test-”

Clang!

Lin Yu He turned his head over to the source of the noise that interrupted him.  He only spotted the shadow of someone running away after knocking down the metallic cone in the basement parking. He was a little surprised when he recognized that person. “Wu Xiao Han?”

Wu Xiao Han was still wearing leather pants and knee-high boots; presumably having just returned home after partying the whole night before. She might be afraid of bumping into her parents if she used the main lift so she wanted to take the lift from the basement parking lot. Thus, she coincidentally overheard their conversation. It was obvious that the news of Wu Xin’s pregnancy affected her greatly.
