Chapter 25: The Guild Visits That’ll Never End

The next day.

We went to the train station shortly after sunrise.

Today is the day of Marin-chan’s departure.

“Did you have fun in the capital?” (Garnet)

“Yeah! It’s all thanks to Jade-kun and Dorami-chan!” (Marin)

“Dorami had a lot of fun too~!” (Dorami)

“Me too. I’m looking forward to the day we can meet again, Marin-chan.” (Jade)

“Yeah! I’ll take lots of quests when I get home and someday, I’ll show you a fully-bloomed crest! I want us to do quests together too!” (Marin)

“Of course! I’ll wait for that day to come!” (Jade)

“You’ll definitely be able to do it someday, Marin!” (Dorami)

“Thank you! …Onee-chan, will you support me too?” (Marin)

“It’s my cute little sister’s dream, of course, I will.” (Garnet)

“Onee-chan…” (Marin)

“But I want you to promise me that you’ll always return home.” (Garnet)

“I promise! No matter what quest I receive, I’ll definitely return home!” (Marin)

After Marin-chan’s declaration, a station staff approached us.

“It’s about time to depart,” Marin-chan said with a sad look.

“I guess this is goodbye…” (Marin)

“Dorami wants you to take this and think of it as her.” (Dorami)

Dorami handed Marin-chan a pebble.

It was a really beautiful pebble that emitted blue light.

“I-it’s really beautiful…” (Marin)

“It’s the most beautiful pebble that Dorami has ever found!” (Dorami)

“Can I really have this?” (Marin)

“Yeah. In exchange, go on lots of adventures and if you find a pebble even prettier than that, give it to Dorami!” (Dorami)

“I will! I’ll definitely find the most beautiful pebble for you!” (Marin)

“I’m looking forward to it~!” (Dorami)

After a firm handshake and reconfirmation of their friendship, Marin-chan boarded the train.

As the train slowly moved, she poked her head out the window and waved at us.

Dorami vigorously waved back.

“Goodbye~!” (Dorami)

“Bye bye~!” (Marin)

Dorami kept waving her hand as the train slowly disappeared into the distance.

Once it was out of sight, she fell to her knees and started hitting the ground.

“Uwaaa! Dorami’s so saaaaad!” (Dorami)

“It’s nice that you were able to see her off with a smile.” (Jade)

“If Dorami cries, it’ll just cause trouble for Marin! Dorami was actually holding back her tears the entire time!” (Dorami)

“I’ll take you to a delicious restaurant, so cheer up.” (Jade)

“Uuu… Dorami was biting her lip so hard so she wouldn’t cry so it’s a bit tingly… If the food is heavily seasoned, it might hurt…” (Dorami)

“I’ll let you eat delicious food that’s lightly seasoned.” (Jade)

“Uuu… Dorami wants to eat with Marin again.” (Dorami)

“If that’s the case, you can go and visit her.” (Garnet)

“Eh?! Dorami can do that?!” (Dorami)

“Of course. When I get some time off, I’ll invite you two to my parent’s house.” (Garnet)

“Yay! We can see each other again~!” (Dorami)

“I can go too?!” (Jade)

“Of course.” (Garnet)

Yay! I can go to Garnet-san’s parent’s house!

I can get even closer to Garnet-san!

Since that’s the case, I have to prepare early.

I’ll bring the best souvenirs and show her mother that I’ll be a good boyfriend!

“Dorami needs to find a beautiful pebble for when she meets with Marin! We need to go and travel quickly!” (Dorami)

“Yeah! All around the country—no, let’s go all around the world!” (Jade)

“Agreed! If we travel around the world, we can get mountains of rare and beautiful pebbles!” (Dorami)

“…Are you two planning to leave as well?” (Garnet)

“Yeah! I want to go around the world to gather the best souvenirs, and I also need to find Garnet-san’s father!” (Jade)

“I see…” (Garnet)

Hm? That’s not the reaction that I was expecting.

I was sure that she was going to be happy…

“…Am I doing something uncalled for?” (Jade)

Garnet-san shook her head.

“I’m really happy about it but… I’m also sad that we won’t be able to meet.” (Garnet)

“I’m also sad that I can’t meet Garnet-san! That’s why I’ll continue going to the guild!” (Jade)

After receiving a quest and traveling for a few days, back to the 18th counter—

Repeating those days, you’ll eventually be able to see the world.

I should be able to meet Onyx-san who’s traveling somewhere.

“No matter what kind of quest I’ll receive, I’ll try to go home at least once a week! Otherwise, I’m going to die of loneliness.” (Jade)

“Isn’t it too much of a burden for you? Besides… you can meet me even if you don’t go to the guild.” (Garnet)

That’s true because Garnet-san and I are lovers. We can also enjoy chatting without going through the counter.

If I just want to meet her as my lover, I can just go to her house, not the guild.

If I don’t accept any quests and just travel, my burden will be considerably reduced, just as she said.

Even so, I’ll continue going to the guild.

I’m not obsessed with being an adventurer.

I’m also not looking for a thrilling battle with a monster.

It isn’t because I want to get more achievements and become more of a hero than I am now.

There’s a simple reason why I will continue going to the guild—

“I like seeing Garnet-san at work! That’s because you’re so cute! From the moment I first saw you, I thought you were an angel! Ah, of course, you’re still as cute as an angel even now!” (Jade)

Garnet-san blushed once I told her about my thoughts.

Happily relaxing her cheeks and in a caring tone, she said.

“You need to eat well and build up more strength so you don’t fall down during your journey.” (Garnet)

“Yeah! And, if you don’t mind, I’d like you to cook for me today too! Garnet-san’s homemade meal was unbelievably delicious!” (Jade)

“For the two of you who plan to go on a journey, I’ll prepare a feast with all of my heart.” (Garnet)

“I’m happy! I can’t wait for tonight!” (Jade)

“Dorami’s looking forward to it too! —Uuu… Dorami got even more hungry after hearing all this talk about food. She wants to eat soon.” (Dorami)

“Right. We’re going to eat now, do you want to join us, Garnet-san?” (Jade)

“I do. There’s still more time until the guild opens.” (Garnet)

“It’s decided, let’s go!” (Dorami)

We left the train station as a cool breeze brushed past us, all the while discussing which store to go to.
