Qin Fei kept five large fish for Xiaobu to cook and gave the rest to the people in the tribe. They were instructed to cut the fish heads and bodies separately, and the fish heads were stewed with mushrooms in a soup seasoned with only salt and ginger.

Qin Fei personally prepared a marinade for some of the fish bodies, which were then grilled over a fire. The rest of the fish bodies were sliced and served with a dipping sauce for freshness. The females in the tribe were also busy cooking, and grilling meat and vegetables such as mushrooms and fresh asparagus. Some of them even followed Qin Fei’s instructions to grill meat, mushrooms, and asparagus on the fire.

Raw fish slices are not particularly popular among children and the elderly, but they are enjoyed by some adult females and males. As everyone tasted this new way of eating, they discussed tomorrow’s plan to learn from Qin Fei’s fishing techniques. This will bring another rich and delicious food to the tribe.

Qin Fei called two idle males to bring over a few flat stones, which were placed over the fire. Then, he sliced the fish meat into thin layers, mixed it with seasoning, and slowly fried it on the stones. Since only a little fruit oil was used, every once in a while, Qin Fei would use tongs to flip the fish slices. When the fish was fried to a crispy golden colour, Qin Fei carefully picked up a piece with chopsticks, blew on it to cool it down, and tasted it. It was very delicious. Immediately, he used the tongs to serve the remaining fish slices into Xiaobu’s bowl.

“Take it slow and be careful, it’s hot,” Qin Fei carefully instructed Xiao Bu.

Xiao Bu nodded in agreement and bit into the crispy and fragrant fish slices. He kept panting and saying “So good, so fragrant, hot, hot…so delicious…”

The other children in the tribe saw it and drooled with envy. Xiao Bu was very generous and shared the bowl of fish slices with each child, letting them have a taste. The group of little ones were all gasping for breath and smacking their lips in enjoyment.

Qin Fei shook his head helplessly and called two females to help. They brought two more stone slabs to fry the fish slices together, otherwise, with so many eager little mouths waiting, he would never finish frying them all.

The fish was really too big. After being busy for a while, Qin Fei and the other two still had one whole fish left to fry. Meanwhile, small bundles of grilled fish wrapped in fragrant leaves had already been placed in front of Xiao Bu. Xiao Bu generously shared the fried fish with friends in the tribe, giving Cooper two extra packets and keeping a few more for himself to eat with his father Qin Fei and grandfather Ruma.

Qin Fei planned to eat dinner first before frying the remaining fish for Xiao Bu. However, Xiao Bu generously suggested leaving the remaining fish as a reward for Sarei who had also helped today. So while the tribe enjoyed the delicious grilled fish, meat, mushrooms, and fresh asparagus, they also drank the fish head mushroom soup stewed by Qin Fei, and occasionally got some fried fish slices from the little ones running around.

After eating and drinking their fill, Qin Fei fried the remaining fish slices and wrapped them in leaves, ready to bring them to Sarei tomorrow. He also cooked and wrapped fish swim bladders, a chewy delicacy that Qin Fei specially made for the males to gnaw on.

Meanwhile, Sarei was busy allocating the newly built bamboo houses and directing those who hadn’t moved in yet to start packing up. Moving was extremely simple, just a matter of bringing in some animal skins, weapons, gourds, and bowls.

Due to some of Ruma’s insistence, Ruma and Xiaobu ultimately did not live in the same bamboo building as Qin Fei and Sarei. Xiaobu was somewhat unhappy about this, but Qin Fei promised to build a big and sturdy house in the future and bring him and Ruma over to live. Under Xiao Bu’s pitiful gaze, Ruma reluctantly agreed to Qin Fei’s proposal for the future.

Xiao Bu hugged Qin Fei and wouldn’t let go, and Qin Fei smiled and bopped his nose, promising that he could come over to stay anytime. Although Sarei had a gloomy face after hearing this, Xiaobu was happy and didn’t mind the issue of staying over at night since they all ate together and lived so close to each other.

The bamboo building where Sarei and Qin Fei lived was close to the middle, with Ruma and Xiao Bu’s on the left and the Cooper Brothers’ on the right. Qin Fei was very satisfied with this arrangement, as the people in these two houses were the ones he wanted to take care of first.

After moving, Sare took Qin Fei to the river for a bath. The gentle moonlight shone on Qin Fei’s skin, emitting a faint charm. Sare used the juice of a cleaning grass to apply it on Qin Fei’s body, and the mixture of the grassy scent and Qin Fei’s body scent made Sare want to eat the deliciousness in front of him immediately. However, seeing Qin Fei’s tired face, Sare couldn’t bear it. After the bath, Sare carried the half-asleep Qin Fei back to the bamboo house, and Qin Fei immediately collapsed onto the bed.

It was a real bed, not like those animal skins and grass mats, and Qin Fei almost cried with excitement. He moved left and right on the bed, humming comfortably a few times.

Sare’s desire surged, and when Qin Fei noticed, he was already pinned under Sare after a flip. Pretending to be tired was too late.

“Sarei, the bed is a bit creaky, I can’t fall asleep,” Qin Fei blamed the bamboo bed for his inability to sleep.

Sarei grinned, “It’s okay, let’s do something to take our minds off it.”

Qin Fei pursed his lips, “Let’s just sleep, okay?”

Originally, Sa Lei felt sorry for Qin Fei and wanted him to rest well after he had been struggling with his back pain all day. However, this guy was full of energy, like a live fish in water. At that moment, Sa Lei didn’t want to suppress himself anymore and let him do whatever he wanted.

Suddenly, Qin Fei’s voice came from the campsite, “Ouch, be gentle… be gentle…”

“…Damn it, my back…”

“…Mmm… Sa Lei…”

……

“…You beastly man, will you ever stop…” The intense exercise and prolonged panting eventually gave way to silence.

The next day, after drinking goat’s milk and eating breakfast, Saile carried the fried fish and braised meat that Qin Fei had made, and with his spear and crossbow in hand, he led the group out with high spirits. The female members of the harvesting team, under the protection of the males, left the tribe to gather in the mountains.

In addition to the male guards, Saile left behind seven or eight other males to continue making furniture. The remaining female members of the tribe, under the command of Gina, cut grass and fed the animals, wove baskets and nets, harvested from the bamboo forest, and caught fish in the water.

Xiao Bu had long obtained the privilege of feeding the little waterfowl from Qin Fei. He and a few buddies followed the method Qin Fei taught them yesterday and weaved a fine vine basket, catching small fish and shrimps in the nearby river with joy.

Qin Fei got up at the third hour of the day and saw a busy scene. He groaned in pain and cursed Sa Lei in his heart as he stretched his nearly broken waist. After drinking the sheep’s milk reserved for him and eating breakfast, he cleaned the bamboo house inside out and made two pairs of slippers with soft hay and animal skins. Still feeling unsatisfied, he made two pairs of slippers for Ruma, Little Bu, and Cooper respectively, and delivered them to them.

Before Qin Fei even arrived at Ruma’s bamboo house, several sharp-eyed females saw him. Qin Fei willingly taught them how to make slippers, and only when they fully learned it did he take the slippers to Ruma’s bamboo house.
