Chapter 15: Adults

Lu Zheng asked someone to investigate the “Qin Lang” that Chang Qing had talked about.

Within a day, Qin Lang’s information was sent to Lu Zheng’s office.

Lu Zheng took Qin Lang’s information and quickly scanned it.

He dropped out of high school at the age of 17 and made his debut in a certain audition program that year. It had been eight years since he signed up with Hongfeng Entertainment Company. He has been playing small roles in the past few years. He wasn’t very famous, but in the past two years, he has started to take lead roles. He has played several important roles such as the male lead or the second male lead in several popular film and television dramas. He became an instant hit and was well known to the public.

This is what Chang Qing said was a little bit famous? This was clearly the hottest little fresh meat star!

Lu Zheng, who had only some doubts at first, became very suspicious when he saw Qin Lang’s information.

Would a star of this rank find someone to keep him for one million grand?

Lu Zheng looked at the document. A storm was already brewing in his eyes. He photographed the document on the table. Then he raised his eyes and said to a man with glasses standing opposite him: “This isn’t enough. Check his family background and Wu Junyong’s relationship with him.” After a pause, his dark eyes were fixed on Wang Sijie. His voice softened a little. “You can do this little thing, can’t you?”

Wang Sijie lowered his eyes. “Okay, boss.”

Lu Zheng watched Wang Sijie leave, and the anger in his heart calmed down a little.

After Lu Xuan left, the burden of the entire Lu Group fell on him. Just like when the imperial power changed in ancient times, there were always flies and hyenas surrounding him. Even if this wave was settled, the next wave would soon follow. How annoying.

During the eight years when the Lu Group was in the hands of his elder brother, it more or less raised the appetite of those ungrateful old animals. They really regarded it as their own home. If the upper beams were crooked, then naturally the lower ones would also go aslant. There were many cases of stealing and theft and without exception it was all the company’s property.

Lu Zheng hated these hyenas and flies very much. It wasn’t enough to fire them. He sent most of these people to prison for financial fraud. In the past half a month, the management of Lu’s Group had directly lost half of it’s people.

And Wang Sijie was Lu Xuan’s confidant…. His hands were dirty, but he hadn’t gone overboard. He was also capable and familiar with the operation of the Lu company.  After Lu Zheng has stabilized, he would see whether or not to replace Wang Sijie.

Just like this, the Lu Group’s vitality was severely damaged. However, Lu Zheng didn’t care. You couldn’t leave your rotten flesh untreated just because it hurts to scrape it off, or the rot will just spread to your whole body.

He occasionally wondered how Lu Xuan had dealt with these people and things when he had sat in this position. However, after only thinking about it once, he didn’t want to think about it again.

Just as Lu Chenghui thought, Lu Xuan wasn’t the best person to manage the company. He was almost just keeping it. Even the Tianxing Entertainment company was just a new attempt he had just summoned up the courage to make. In other aspects, he has no courage or determination to make decisions.

Lu Zheng didn’t want to think about how Lu Xuan would do it anymore, but devoted his whole body and mind to getting the Lu group on the right track.

He may be a little immature for those seasoned decision makers, but in many ways, there was already some things that could be recognized and praised without hesitation.

Chang Qing didn’t know that Lu Zheng had gone to investigate Qin Lang. He had nothing to do at the Lu home, so he simply returned to Tianxing Entertainment and continued to work.

At this time, Tianxing’s boss has been replaced by a strange man. It was said that he was a senior manager who had graduated with various certificates from an Ivy League school in the United States. In one word, he could be summed up as “elite”.

Chang Qing tried not to think about those things or people any more. He wanted to keep himself busy and he didn’t want Ah-Jian to drive him. So, he bought a small electric scooter and drove it to work.

He had been absent from work for so many days, almost a month. Because he came in through Lu Xuan’s back door, no one dared to question him, and he entered the president’s office smoothly.

There was a new secretary added to the president’s office, surnamed Qiu, and called Qianjin. He was a short boy, but he was very fair and had some baby fat, like a wet behind the ears student. So Chang Qing didn’t cause much of a reaction when he went back. Compared with the assistant who asked for leave for a month, they were more willing to discuss the new secretary Qiu.

Chang Qing asked Zhang Xinyu to arrange something for him to do. Zhang Xinyu was a little surprised. He smiled, “Are you serious?”

Chang Qing pretended to be surprised, “Am I not your assistant?”

Zhang Xinyu smiled, said nothing, and began to teach him how to be an assistant.

Chang Qing started to get busy.

Being able to devote yourself to your work like this was a great way to keep your mind off other things.

On this day, Chang Qing also met the current president of Tianxing. He was a very young man who looked like he was in his early twenties. He wore a pair of glasses and looked like a refined scum.

Zhang Xinyu said to him in private: “The new Boss is a smiling tiger. He looks very easy to get along with, but he’s actually very unreasonable.”

Chang Qing said thoughtfully, “Maybe that’s how a boss is supposed to be, right? You have to make your employees respect and fear you.”

Zhang Xinyu didn’t comment on this. He sighed, turned back to the topic, and said: “Excuse me, what did you do before?” He didn’t know how to use the office software. It was a big headache for him.

Chang Qing lowered his eyes and counted with his fingers, “I’ve done a lot, such as been a driver, waiter, zoo keeper, model…”

Zhang Xinyu: “…”

He was really curious about Lu Xuan’s relationship with Chang Qing. However, if it wasn’t easy to ask before, it was even more difficult now. After all, Lu Xuan had just passed away. If the relationship was extremely good, wouldn’t it add to the awkwardness and sadness.

Thinking of this, Zhang Xinyu boasted: “Then you are quite skilled.”

Chang Qing twitched his lips and said softly, “It’s nothing, it’s just a matter of making a living.”

Zhang Xinyu was about to speak, when his eyes suddenly fell on the necklace that slipped out of the collar of Chang Qing’s shirt, and his voice suddenly became hoarse.

Chang Qing didn’t notice anything, he looked at the computer screen intently, holding a mouse in his hand.

He really doesn’t know how to use computers. His life experience has a strange similarity with the original owner. Only one thing was different. It was that he wasn’t an orphan. His parents were still alive. Just for many reasons, he had lived on his own since childhood, as though he had no parents. He didn’t even finish high school. He dropped out of school to work part-time.

His own appearance wasn’t bad, but he wasn’t as brilliant as the original owner. He was too young. He didn’t have the idea of reaching heaven in a single bound.1 He has done all kinds of hard and tiring work. He was essentially a poor working person.

Of course, he also loves money, but he just doesn’t have too much urgency about it. He’s more used to the kind of life where he can live with only a little money.

He wasn’t greedy for Lu Xuan’s inheritance. He had no reason to accept it, so he refused.

Going to work now, on the contrary, let him find some shadows of his former life.

He may not know anything, but he has the will to learn.

Chang Qing operated it and finally succeeded. A smile appeared on the corner of his lips, “Secretary Zhang, look, is this right?”

Zhang Xinyu came back to his senses, and looked down at the computer screen. He breathed a sigh of relief, “Right, you just need to press the save button on the computer and print it out. That’s enough.”

Chang Qing said, “How do you print it out?”

Zhang Xinyu stared at him silently.

Chang Qing looked at him, then called Zhang Xinyu, in a soft voice as if embarrassed, “…Can you teach me again?”

Zhang Xinyu looked away and said, “Okay.”

The new Boss was called Qiao Zhenran. He preferred to use the newly recruited Qiu Qianjin as a secretary rather than Zhang Xinyu and Du Shu, who were already old people. So Zhang Xinyu had plenty of time. He taught Chang Qing to be proficient in basic office software. It was soon evening, and the time to get off work had long passed.

At this point, only Zhang Xinyu and Chang Qing were left in the president’s office.

Obviously, the relationship between the two of them was still very distant before, but now there was a little bit of familiarity and ease like between friends. Chang Qing didn’t treat him with the awe of a boss, he just treated him like an equal.

That wasn’t a bad thing, Zhang Xinyu thought.

With his sharp eyes, he had seen the chain that Chang Qing hid under his clothes. There were two rings on it, one large and one small, very similar to the style that Lu Xuan often wore on his hands.

He didn’t want to guess, but the facts were right in front of him, and there was no room for him not to think about it-Chang Qing may be Lu Xuan’s rumored wife.

In this era, although men could marry men and have children, it still wasn’t very popular yet. Those who did could be said to be in the minority. The head of the Lu family married a man. In fact, it was quite a sensation at that time. The entire company had discussed it, but Lu Xuan’s wedding wasn’t a big event. Even the most pervasive media didn’t know the identity of his partner. So how could outsiders like them know?

Zhang Xinyu sighed and couldn’t help looking at Chang Qing. He thought he could see it. He shook his head and secretly denied his idea. It was because he couldn’t let it go that he changed his lazy working attitude and began to seriously teach him how to do his job, right?

Chang Qing didn’t know that Zhang Xinyu’s thoughts had strayed off to his own affairs. He was thinking about it himself. He saw the beautiful and dreamy city buildings dressed up in neon lights outside the transparent glass. An unspeakable melancholy and sadness filled his heart.

All this was seen by Zhang Xinyu. And what he wanted to say changed to: “Let’s finish work, this is enough. Let’s continue tomorrow.”

Chang Qing came back to his senses and agreed in a low voice. “Uh-huh.”

They went downstairs together. As soon as they got downstairs, Chang Qing received a call. He glanced at it. It was an unfamiliar number. Chang Qing paused and hung up the phone.

Zhang Xinyu noticed his move and asked, “Don’t you want to answer it?”

Chang Qing said casually, “I have experience with this. This must be a pyramid scheme call.”

As soon as he finished speaking, the phone rang again. Chang Qing looked down and saw that it was the same phone number just now.

Zhang Xinyu said from the side, “Is it still a pyramid scheme?”

Chang Qing smiled and his voice was much lighter, “Yes.”

He still hung up.

But as soon as he hung up the phone, there was a shadow in front of him, and a tall man blocked their way.
