Chapter 106 106: Glade Solitude IV

Cole dodged to the left as another one of these chitterlings attacked him From behind. Most of his bread and butter skills were now absent, the abilities that his equipment gave him were always what was most important to him, but for now he would have to make do. He would have very much liked to have his [Face] skill available to him as that would have made a world of difference in this fight. With these creatures unable to see him he would have been able to pick them off one after the other.",

The chitterling crashed to the ground as Cole gave it a swift kick in the behind, sending it crashing into the Face of a leaping colleague. They both screeched as Cole used [Shadow Dance] to move intot he shadow of a few trees, letting three more chitterlings to crash into the position he previously was occupying. Cole threw a [Chaos Blast] at them then moved behind the tree, escaping the blast radius as the chitterlings were blasted apart.

Their planned screeched filled the air as Cole turned back into the path and rushed forwards, stabbing his sword into the head of a chitterlings that was missing half its body. Then he flicked the blade as he used [Black Cut] sending out a black wave of demonic energy that smashed through the ranks of three other chitterlings then through a tree, or it would have gone through a tree if the attack had not bounced off the trunk of it and was sent flying back towards Cole.

[Spectral Rover]

Took him out of the way and sent him flying back towards the entrance to the blade. And then the weirdest thing happened. His attack began to bounce off the trees as the sent it flying e dry which way and through the chitterlings that were caught in the middle. And for some reason the chitterlings kept trying to attack him, and all of them putting themselves in the path of the [Black Cut] attack.

It honestly did not make a lot of sense to Divyat as he could not understand how the trees that were strong enough to reflect attacks could be expected to be harvested and with just simple logging axes. Never the less he did not have to raise a finger for almost 5 minutes as more and more of the chitterlings were killed. Finally all of them within his immediate vicinity had been killed, it was not as if they stopped attacking, they had all kept throwing themselves at him until they were all dead.

[Basic Critterling Darkling Slayed X44 +4200exp +44 Mana Core, +7 bronze prism]

This was effectively annoying, after all of these killed he had gained such a small amount of prisms. Funny enough the bronze prisms were the least of all his assets…. Well except for the gold and diamond ones. But these were the higher ranked prisms, it would take most old players of titan rising online the better part of a year to save to afford a good prisms, much less a diamond one. This was how rare they were, and Cole had been lucky with his gains so far because he had been pushing himself as hard as possible and taking on challenges that others would not otherwise out themselves at risk to take…. Basically high risk high reward.

He gathered everything he could and placed them in his inventory. After looking around the area a bit and making sure that truly he would not be ambushed by any of these bloody monsters again, the mere sight oft hem were horrifying if he had to be honest, Cole stepped towards the first tree in his path and removed the logging are from his inventory. He honestly hoped the damn thing wouldn't bounce back the axe and dig it into his forehead, that would be an incredibly terrible way to die. He took a deep breaths be swung the axe into the tree.

It bit into it deeply with a full thunk. There was a small clash of light and somehow in Cole's eyes or at least to his perception, it seemed as if the tree had lost a little bit of volume. He furrowed his eyebrows and looked at his notification seeing a [+2 Wood] and looking into his inventory to see that a pair of wood logs had been stacked over each other in one slot.

"So that's how it works." Cole mused to himself. The. He shrugged and went back to work, the axe swinging into the side of the tree trunk. Cole had not experience with lumbering, but he envisioned itnwas not all about strength. It was the motion and the management of force, so that he could avoid getting tired any time soon. Each swing reduced the side of the tree, and with how tall each of them was, that was saying something.

It took Cole 50 strikes for the tree to disasappear. Which meant by the time everything was done he had [+100] stacked in a single inventory slot. He wasn't even winded, and the area that the tree once located had turned into flat forest ground as sunlight now shown over that particular spot. Cole moved to the next tree and repeated the same process, it took him roughly 15 minutes to get the 50 strikes he needed to bring the next tree down, netting him another [+100] wood.

It was only when he had begun working on the fifth tree, that he received another attack from the chitterlings. He swiftly turned and smashed his axe into the head of the chitterlings that had tried to ambush him. Cole shook his head, this particular chitterling has been stalking him for the last 20 minutes, trying to look for a chance to attack. It was pretty much a patient beast if Cole had to be honest, but it had no idea that Cole was already aware of it and had been following its movement. Luckily enough for him it was the only one that had been stalking him.

"Well this has been extremely educating to watch…. Do you need any help?" Close shrugged, not slowing down or even turning around to look at Farida as he swung away at the fifth tree. This would bring all of his wood to 500, halfway what he needed or rafher what they needed to complete the wood requirements to upgrade the settlement.

"You could help, but I'm almost at the halfway mark to fully complete the wood requirements." Cole said to her, just as a way to let her know that he really didn't need that much help. She nodded her head then smiled.

"Perhaos if you weren't so antisocial you would have found out that we already completed it and are now trying to find a stone resource. The chitterlings are ambush hunters and hardly fight head on unless they're cornered. Which is weird, as it's almost as if they are incapable of running away. They are the only source of Mana cores that we have found, but killing them is easier said than done. We've only been able to get ten.

Xerxes has also found a stone resource but, it is through what we believe to be one of the Darkling nests…specifically the one for the chitterlings. There's just five of us, six if you include yourself and there are literally thousands of those creatures…. We can't get through them just by ourselves, we need-"

"A world Breaker." Cole finished for her as he finished off his swing and brought them tree down to the ground. Sunlight shone through as he tried his hardest not to chuck the axe into the forest in annoyance. But frankly speaking this was a lesson, he had no one else to become but himself for not even checking the management tab before leaving the glade.

His hubris had cost him valuable time, but ultimately it's not as if there would be no further use for the wood. He turned to Farida who was leaning against her speed whilst looking at him with a pensive look. It was almost as if she was trying to contemplate something, but what that was he couldn't tell until she just opened her mouth and.

"I am sorry if I upset you with what I said. I apologize for overstepping, I would ask that you please put it aside and help us. We all want to win this event or at least get as far as we can possibly get to the top, and you are our best chance of achieving it. So please even if I have to pay you, I would very much like for you to help me, us with this."

She swallowed her pride…Cole couldn't help but shake his head as he felt saved. Better her than him, he absolutely had a reputation to protect and there's no way he would be able to do that if he went and admitted to people he already treated as less than him that he was wrong and going solo just might not be the way to go about this.

"I accept you apology…. Come I should have enough cores to fill the Mana Core requirements. And I have experience hunting chitterlings and fighting against insurmountable odds …. I will help."
