Chapter 148: Go See Him

“Respect” is a very important word that one must practice towards a cherished person.

Zhou Mushi understood how Jin Yang felt, and perhaps if he switched roles, he would make the same choice.

There is nothing more cruel than letting your lover watch you die helplessly.

It seemed like Zhou Mushi accepted Jin Yang’s impending death in an instant, and then accepted the fact that he would leave him and quietly depart on his own.

Zhou Mushi didn’t react as Wang Jiexi had expected before, crying and shouting to be with Jin Yang.

Being alone can sometimes be ruthless, sometimes it’s because of deep love.

Zhou Mushi played the role of a normal person, going to the gym, learning to swim, actively engaging in work, and tasting food, as if he were a particularly positive and sunny person.

It’s good this way too, no matter how wounded he is inside, at least on the surface, this person looks so healthy and beautiful.

If he keeps going like this, perhaps with time he will truly be able to let go.

Wang Jiexi thought to himself as he witnessed Zhou Mushi becoming more and more like the most standard positive energy boy in legends, and his heart, which had been hanging, was just about to let go.

It was a day off, and the weather was bad, with heavy thunderstorms. Wang Jiexi cut some fruit in the kitchen and brought it to Zhou Mushi.

He was lying on a small sofa in the bedroom, reading an interesting comic book that was full of teenage boys of their age. Even if he read it again now, it could still make people laugh out loud.

When Wang Jiexi brought in the watermelon and washed peaches, the person on the sofa had already fallen asleep while holding the book.

In this kind of weather, it’s always a bit sweaty without air conditioning, but turning it on makes people feel cold. Zhou Mushi took a fan and placed it on the nearby table. Although it was only on the first level of wind, Wang Jiexi still felt a bit chilly when he reached out his hand.

When people are asleep, they are most afraid of catching a cold. If they get cold in the summer, it is particularly uncomfortable. He simply put down the fruit platter and took a thin blanket from beside him to help cover up Zhou MushI.

The sound of rain outside was dripping down, and this atmosphere was indeed suitable for a good nap.

Wang Jiexi wasn’t very sleepy. He picked up the comic book in Zhou Mushi’s hand and sat down to read it slowly.

The book was somewhat old, and it was obvious that it had been bought a long time ago. It was unclear where Zhou Mushi had found it.

The humor that only they could understand from that era made people want to laugh out loud. Since there was someone sleeping next to him, he had to bear with it, but flipping through a few more pages did improve his mood.

However, how could the person who fell asleep after reading such an interesting book cry and wet the pillow in his sleep?

He was sleeping soundly and didn’t move at all. Tears kept flowing down his eyes and onto the pillow.

Wang Jiexi couldn’t help but put down the comic book in his hand with a smile that could no longer be forced. He couldn’t help but go to the pillow on Zhou Mushi’s bed and look at it. The lotus-colored pillowcase was covered with dried water droplets everywhere.

He took a deep breath of cold air. How many times has he cried where no one could see?

When Zhou Mushi suddenly sat up from the sofa, it was not clear what he had dreamt of. His eyes were very red and his face was covered in tears.

He wiped his wet face and looked at Wang Jiexi sitting next to him.

“When…when did you come?” His voice was choked, probably from crying too much.

Looking at his appearance, Wang Jiexi didn’t know whether staying by his side day after day was helping him or hurting him.

“Maybe you should go see him,” he blurted out without thinking.

Zhou Mushi froze on the spot, like an old rusty clock, moving jerkily without a clear direction.

“I…I…”

Only then did Wang Jiexi realize that he had been too impulsive just now. He had already endured to this extent, why stab him again.

“I was impulsive.”

“I’ll go with you!”

The two voices sounded in the room at the same time, and two hearts that were already loose made a firm determination.

Wang Jiexi put away the comic book in his hand and put it aside, squeezing out a smile, “I’ll take you there.”

The effort that Zhou Mushi had made to live a good life, to show his loved ones and to show Jin Yang far away, was too hard.

For Wang Jiexi’s words, he almost completely collapsed.

His arms opened and embraced Wang Jiexi. He really wanted to say thank you, but his lips were trembling so much that he couldn’t say anything.

Old Zhou stood by the door, clutching his heart and taking deep breaths. He arrived just in time, when Wang Jiexi said “I was impulsive” and Zhou Mushi said “I’ll go with you” at the same time.

Mrs. Zhou was pregnant with their first child, a daughter who was already six months old and her belly had grown quite heavy. She was having a hard time but didn’t know what was going on. When she saw her husband coming back home while holding his heart, she was frightened. Even though Zhou Qingwen kept saying that he was okay, she took him to the hospital for his own health.

When they came back, they ran into Zhou Mushi and Wang Jiexi, carrying backpacks and getting into a taxi.

Just as their car turned the corner 50 meters away from home, the two of them packed up and left.

Mrs. Zhou had good eyesight and couldn’t help asking, “Honey, is Mushi going out with Jiexi? Honey, honey? What’s wrong with you, honey? Quick, let’s go to the hospital again!”

. . . . .

The two of them bought tickets and arrived at the county where Jin Yang was located. Zhou Mushi, who had originally decided to come and visit, now felt a “homesickness” feeling.

He walked to a place near Jin Yang’s community, but he didn’t have the courage to go further.

Wang Jiexi understood his concerns and said, “How about this, you wait for me here, and I’ll go out and invite him. You can take a look from afar.”

Zhou Mushi nodded repeatedly, but he had no better way.

He went to a convenience store to buy a mask, a cap, and a pair of black-framed glasses. He also took off his jacket and dressed himself in a way that was not at all like Zhou Mushi’s style, even cutting his good jeans into ripped jeans.

He huddled in a corner of the coffee shop, waiting for the person who was about to arrive.

Somehow, he knew that he was coming, and he couldn’t stop his tears. But he couldn’t cry, a man crying in a coffee shop would attract attention.

Zhou Mushi held a cup of iced coffee, and his handsome eyes still had a slight redness under the cover of the black-framed glasses.

Wang Jiexi hadn’t arrived yet, but the phone rang first.

“Hello, Mushi, Jin Yang’s neighbor said he went to the hospital in a hurry today.”
