The next day, she immediately caught a tram and headed to the Dumfelt Mansion.

She took the two-hour tram ride from Crimson Street to the opposite end of the capital to reach it.

The Dumfelt mansion she had last visited almost a year ago was still intimidating. When she first saw this mansion in the carriage, she felt as if she had entered a new world.

Upon entering the drawing-room, Scarlett soon found her father-in-law, Gregory Dumfelt. Just like his son, a very handsome man, his father, Gregory, was also a good-looking man.

He met women at random, regardless of the presence of his wife. Gregory saw it as a reward for his poor life.

Even now, as Scarlett entered, a woman on his lap hurriedly escaped. On the other hand, Gregory spoke with a calm expression, as if he had been waiting.

“Why did my son ask if I purposely sent you to the Melin Monastery, where the Priest Delphio tormented you as if it was my fault that the priest treated you harshly?”

At his words, Scarlett opened her mouth.

“I didn’t say that. My husband found out by accident.”

“How did you find out about that? Did you hear anything?” Gregory asked as he set the papers down on the table.

“He told me that he accidentally arrested Priest Delphio.”

“Say nonsense. It’s been a year, and I’ve only found out now, isn’t it because of what you said?”

Scarlett wanted to dig into her insides because of his bias.

But due to the fear that Gregory would be even angrier if she reacted, she remained silent.

“He was mad at me. That child was so pitiful for me,” Gregory said with a slightly unsteady look.

It must have been harrowing for him to have a relationship with his son.

After hesitating for a moment, Scarlett knelt on the marble floor.

“I’m very sorry if I made you feel uncomfortable.”

When Gregory was offended, Scarlett learnt that the only answer to give was a presentation of powerlessness. And to beg unconditionally.

Seeing her actions calmed him down a bit, Gregory stroked his moustache and opened his mouth.

“Try to talk to my son.”

“Yes?”

“This happened because you were weak, and didn’t that priest do what he wanted? Try to convince Viktor in that way.”

Gregory had always been afraid of his son.

The Dumfelt family was strange. When she belonged to this family, Scarlett felt like she was on a battlefield without any armour.

It was a family that operated the logic of power, a structure in which the one with more royal blood, whether married or wealthy, prevailed.

Therefore, the dominant force in this family was the original princess Marina Dumfelt, followed by Viktor Dumfelt, who inherited half of the royal blood.

Scarlett nodded.

“I will.”

“Go and talk right now. I miss my son.”

Gregory’s expression brightened slightly.

Then she heard footsteps behind her, and Scarlett turned around to see Viktor entering.

Gregory got up quickly.

“Viktor, my son. How long has it been?”

Viktor observed the situation for a moment and then exited the room immediately.

“What are you doing?! Follow him quickly!” Gregory urged hastily.

After a moment of hesitation, Scarlett rose to her feet and followed after Viktor.

She ran up to him and grabbed his arm.

“Viktor.”

Viktor then turned and looked down at her.

Since Scarlett had been with him for over two years, she knew that his expression, which other people would coin as expressionless, was, in fact, displeasure. And she knew that displeasure was with reason.

Viktor chose Scarlett Crimson as his marriage partner for two reasons.

First, Scarlett was far-removed from the social world and an enemy of a noble family, so she would not cause any incidents.

The second point was that the watchmaker’s family seemed to have a rational and logical atmosphere, in his view, which was highly averse to emotions.

The Crimsons were the only aristocrats nearby. The livelihood of all the villagers depended on the Crimsons. He worked in the five factories of the Crimson family and as a servant to the Crimson family.

Still, the day Scarlett first saw the size of the Dumfelt family, the shock she received on her was indescribable.

Scarlett was the daughter of the Crimson family, but from the age of twelve, she did all the household chores and grew up treated less than a well-earned maid. Scarlett’s first impression of Viktor’s Dumfelt was full of admiration and fear. He was like the king of an enemy nation.  In the fairy tale Scarlett had been living in, the king had come to bow down to the princess.
