Chapter 157

157 City E Ruins

Traveling with a lot of people were definitely not the ideal situation. Not only they had to make sure the pace was slow, they had to protect a lot of people who were stationed behind them. It was even more so for the civilian.

But Kyle knew that since his father is a soldier, a general at that, he cared more about the lives of these people. Because of that, Kyle just followed in this large group until they finally reached City E.

To be exact, City E ruins.

“This place is worse than my expectation...” Jake looked around and sighed deeply. If they wanted to rebuilt this place, it is estimated that things wouldn’t be that simple.

Marc scratched the back of his head. “Can’t we just stay around City B vicinity and then rebuilt it?”

“Before we can rebuild it, the giant mutated animals around the area will surely swarm in first.” Kyle shook his head, refuting the notion. “These giant mutated animals are very sensitive and they’re also targeting other human beings for some reason.”

“Maybe because we look weak?” Lotte murmured.

Jake looked at his girlfriend speechlessly. “If you’re weak, how are you supposed to say about the others?”

Kyle shrugged. But he also knew that these giant mutated animals were used to destroy after the mutation. It was as if there was some kind of instinct that was planted within them. And with many of these giant mutated animals were formerly small animals, their behavior looked like they were taking revenge.

.....

But well, Kyle himself was not sure.

“There’s just one thing I want to know.”

“Yeah?”

“Will there be a third red rain?” Marc asked curiously.

Kyle pursed his lips. “I don’t know. The previous two red rains had already caused so many giant mutated animals to appear. If there’s a third one, maybe even the bigger animals will turn into giant mutated animals, pulling us back into prehistoric time.”

“Meow.”

Kate really couldn’t imagine living with so many giant mutated animals that was as big as dinosaur. How in the world they were supposed to live when there were so many giant mutated animals roaming around like that?

Even now, these giant mutated animals were already as big as other animals that didn’t mutate such as tigers or even worse, elephant.

Uh, not yet.

There were no giant mutated animals as big as elephant yet. At most, they were close to the size of an elephant.

“It’s already more than 2 months since the first red rain.” Jake glanced at Kyle. “I don’t think there will be a third one.”

“Let’s just clean up this place. There are hundred thousands of people who need a place for living.” Kyle waved his hand, indicating that the conversation was over.

The others shut their mouth sensibly.

Kate looked at the City E in front of her and sighed. There were still some parts of the wall, but it was already broken so badly. Countless houses were destroyed due to the trampling of these giant mutated animals and the land were ruined.

It was hard to find a road that they could travel without having difficulties.

“Meow.”

Marc looked at the cat with astonishment. “Wow, your cat is very knowledgeable. But don’t worry, I’m of earth element and I can still control these concrete. My earth element is not pure soil but more towards rocks too. Since concrete is basically small rocks that’s close to sand, I can still control them. However, it’s a bit difficult for a large number.”

Not only Marc, even Lotte was looking at Kate in surprise. She had to admit that she herself forgot that building didn’t only consist of normal rocks, earth, and metal but their types were very different.

She turned to look at Jake who was dumbfounded. It seemed that her boyfriend would have to experiment a lot if he truly wanted to be able to repair this city.

Kyle patted Kate. “Don’t worry, General Ryou will be in charge of the rebuilding. With his experience of destroying many cities before, I’m sure he can do it very well.”

Kate: “...”

What kind of experience is that?

General Ryou, who had destroyed many cities before, sneezed loudly. He looked around him ins suspicion wondering who the hell would spread bad news about him, causing him to sneeze at such unfortunate time.

Jake laughed. “Well, where are we going now?”

These people were all moving towards the ruins, trying to claim their territory and began to rebuild their houses. For the time being, several families had to stay in one house because the number of awakened people were limited.

Anyway, they should be able to survive somehow.

“Jake and Marc, you two fix the wall. Just pour the metal and concrete together. Lotte, you stay to watch over them and make sure to follow the guidelines of normal construction. Dylan, you’ll be going with the other water carrier to the nearby river to replenish our water supplies. I’m going with Little Kitty to the research institute and checked what’s left there for us to live.”

“Wait, we’re going to stay in research institute?” Lotte was stunned. This was out of her expectation that they would be staying in the place where other researchers would stay.

“Yes. Research Institute in City E is build underground, which I believe is still partially intact. I’m planning to build underground city below this city so that we’ll be able to protect the people when it’s necessary.” Kyle shrugged.

Jake looked at Kyle suspiciously. “I think the reason why you want to build city downwards is because you want to stay away from these politics.”

Kyle only waved his hand.

With these, the group separated. The other people were busy building their house and Kyle headed to the ruins of the research institute, which really looked like a flat land after so many giant mutated animals rushed over and tramped everything to the ground.

“Meow?”

Kyle looked at the professors who looked like they were going to die when they saw the condition of this research institute. He could imagine that they were sad because of the loss of research.

The mind of these people were really hard to understand.

Blaar!

With a wave of his hand, Kyle used his fire element to burn everything down, leaving only the door below. The door was still intact and Kyle simply entered the code that he knew before he opened the door.

“Dr. Dall, you come with us.”

Dr. Dall originally only wanted to watch Kyle and the others enter first, but with Kyle’s words, he had no other choice but to follow.

Tep!

Landing down easily, Kyle looked around the place. He arched his eyebrows when he saw that the place was undamaged. It was as if there was no one here and no giant mutated animals could even enter.

Only the building above was completely destroyed.

“Meow.”

Kate didn’t understand why these researchers didn’t take out the crystals away from this place. If it was protected by the space barrier, it would be impossible for these giant mutated animals to detect it.

Kyle didn’t understand, so he put Kate down and let the little cat moved towards the boxes. And then, she moved them to the side with her space element, making it disappear and then dropped at one side.

It was indeed a method only she could do.

The other researchers were following Kyle and saw the little cat’s action. Their expression turned a bit strange. Even though they knew that this little cat was awakened and had some abilities, this was the first time they realized that her abilities were astonishingly at high rank.

After all, other space element had to touch the items first and couldn’t show them far away from them. Some of them even had to make the items appear on their hand.

But Kate didn’t need to touch these boxes and they could appear as far as five meters away from her.

Only high ranking space element could do it.

“I think that you’re crazy, Kyle.” Dr. Dall couldn’t help himself when he saw how easily the little cat moved the things around.

Kyle arched his eyebrows. “What makes you think that way, Dr. Dall?”

“For you to be able to support the large expense of raising this little cat, don’t you think there will be other space awakened who will be jealous of you?” Dr. Dall sighed. “Just how much resources do you use for her?”

“It’s mine. I can do whatever I want with her.”

Dr. Dall: “...”

Fine, whatever you said. You’re the boss!

Even though Dr. Dall felt the heartache, he knew that Kyle was correct, so he chose to shut up. Only his heart was bleeding.
