89 Study and Napping

Kyle nodded.

“Stay with me today. There’s a residence that belonged to our family but you’re actually staying in the hotel yesterday.” General Ryan was annoyed.

“I come back too late.” Kyle shrugged.

General Ryan rolled his eyes. He knew that it was nothing more than excuse given by Kyle. The real reason must be because this annoying son of his didn’t want to return home.

“Go home tonight.”

“Ok.”

“Where are you going now?”

“Research Institute. I want to take a look if there’s anything I can do there.”

“Don’t make trouble.”

“I won’t.”

Kyle conveniently walked to the Research Institute. On his way, he rubbed Kate’s front paw and said in a low voice, “Little Kitty, didn’t I tell you not to do anything strange?”

“Meow!”

“Just ignore those kind of people. They’re not worth our time.”

“Meow.”

Kate still didn’t like that annoying woman. But if Kyle asked her not to care for her, she will follow his words. Curling up her body inside Kyle’s arm, Kate felt comfortable in this position. Her small body made it very convenient for her to move around since Kyle’s arm had enough space for her to move around.

“You heartless little one.” Kyle sounded helpless, yet he allowed the cat treated him like a pillow.

He continued to walk towards the Research Institute and entered the building. After that, he conveniently asked for his office room and got the route. The key to enter his office room was naturally his card.

Kate glanced at the noisy door and silently wondered whether the building was quite old for the door to make sound like that.

“They purposely make the door noisy because most researchers wouldn’t even notice if they’re absorbed in their research. Knocking the door is sometime useless, so they added this noise.” Professor Kyle had long gotten used to the additional noise that they made in this place.

Kate was speechless.

Shouldn’t they just bring a loud alarm beside the professors’ ear to make them listen to them?

It seemed that she had underestimated these researchers and scientist.

They were more dedicated than what she could ever imagine.

“Come here. Let me input your bracelet into the security system so that you can enter my office anytime you want.”

“Meow?”

Kate asked, but she still stretched her paw. With it, Kyle conveniently put the identification so that Kate would be able to enter. The problem was simply the place to scan was quite high.

Kyle also noticed it and murmured in a low voice, “It seems I have to ask them to make another one at the bottom.”

Kate was utterly speechless.

“Meow!”

However, Kyle ignored Kate’s protest and carried her to his table. He took out some books from the shelfs and put it on his table. “Do you want to read with me?”

“Meow?”

With curiosity, Kate peeked at the books that Kyle read. Upon seeing so many medical terms and probably countless words she didn’t have in vocabulary, Kate retreated. She had no interest in abusing herself with so many knowledge she couldn’t even understand.

She hadn’t even graduated to obtain her bachelor degree.

Now asking her to read these books would be the same as asking her to read professor’s level class.

Please.

She’s not a stellar student who were acclaimed as genius anywhere they went.

She was just an ordinary student who was struggling to keep her GPA acceptable enough for her parents.

With the sound of paper flipping behind her, Kate leaned towards Kyle’s other arm that he didn’t use to read. It was very comfortable and warm. After a while, Kate fell asleep easily on top of Kyle’s arm.

Kyle was busy reading and only when he finished one book that he saw the little cat that had conveniently treated his hand as a pillow. He smiled helplessly and lightly caressed the little cat’s head.

“Are you tired, Little One? There’s a sofa if you want to sleep better.”

Kyle tried to lift Kate up.

“Meow.”

Kate slapped Kyle’s arm away. She’s currently dreaming of eating her favorite chicken drumstick. No one is allowed to take it away from her!

After being ‘abused’ for not being able to eat many things she loved, Kate was determined to eat this chicken drumstick. Even if it was only inside her dream, she didn’t want to let it go.

Kyle: “...”

He looked at the little cat and shook his head lightly. Anyway, there was no harm in letting the little cat treating his arm as a pillow. He wouldn’t feel that much with just little weight added to his arm.

Thus, time passed.

When it was finally time for dinner, Kyle had already finished several of these difficult books. He lifted Kate up and used his other arm to put the books back to its place.

The situation of these mutations were worse than he expected.

Not to mention, the technologies couldn’t be used easily because of so many restriction and also some of the locations that had fallen in the hands of these giant mutated animals and probably destroyed by now.

‘But if there are some of those giant mutated animals who have high intelligence, it’ll be bad.’

Kyle’s eyes narrowed.

So far, there hasn’t been any of such report, but he knew that there was such possibility. Not to mention, these giant mutated insects were not completely stupid as there were even some ‘leaders’ of these giant mutated insects who commanded several swarms.

They were the most difficult to deal with.

Kyle sighed and put the matter to the back of his mind. In any case, he wouldn’t be able to do anything much aside from helping a bit even if there was such case.

This feeling of powerlessness made him annoyed.
