51 You Can Sleep Again

“Are you saying that we’re all still bound by law?” Jake asked with a smile and laughed lightly. “And here I thought that you’ll never say those words.”

“The laws are useful to restrain human’s action. Even though there are awakened people who had strange abilities, but there will definitely those on the government’s sides. Even if there were some organizations who can only reach an agreement with them, it’ll be better to maintain peace.”

Kyle didn’t really want to kill those people.

Besides, they were in the wilderness and rather than letting his hand dirty, he would just let the mutated animals around do the jobs. There were many other giant animals who were only active at night.

If not because their fire scared some of them off and the occasional short fight by those who kept the night watch, their night wouldn’t have been so peaceful.

“Huh really?”

“In any case, being rank 3 didn’t mean that we can fully escape from automatic weapons or even weapon of mass destruction.” Kyle glanced at Jake, who seemed to be still thinking about it.

Their ability was definitely not enough for them to avoid some type of weapons that were extremely dangerous and had high vitality. Not to mention, they were also still human beings who needed food, water, and air.

They were not completely invincible.

.....

So, they will have to follow the law to be able to coexist with others without interfering too much with each other’s interest.

“Whatever.” Jake waved his hand. “I’m sleeping again. Wake me up if there’s anything important.”

“Ok.”

Kyle glanced at the car where Kate was still inside. The corner of his lips curled up to form a faint smile. Maintaining this superficial peace would have been better than dragging everyone into chaos.

At the very least, it could end happily for many of them.

And as long as those other annoying power hungry people were not crossing his bottom line, he also had no interest to chase after them. Staying low while tempering himself was pretty good.

“You sleep too.”

“It’s almost three, so I better stay awake.” Kyle waved his hand. “It’s your turn to sleep, Dylan.”

Dylan revealed a thoughtful expression and then nodded. He had no interest in having conversation either and would rather keep the principle that word is gold, keeping himself speaking at the very bare minimum.

Kyle opened the car’s door and sat on the edge. He reached his hand towards the sleepy cat.

“You still can sleep again, Little Kitty.”

“Meow.”

Kate squirmed a bit and then fell asleep again. She had already gotten used to see Kyle and the others beating those mutated animals lately that she didn’t have much reaction when she heard them beating up others too.

Anyway, those robbers were asking for it.

She might be a little coward because she had no battle capabilities, but she was not a saint who could accept getting robbed by others without fighting back. Since they dared to try taking advantage of them, they had to be prepared for the consequences too.

Not everything will end well for those who tried to take advantage of others.

Soon, Kate had already fell asleep again.

Kyle caressed the little cat’s head tenderly and chuckled lightly. Previously, he always thought that taking care of the stupid little cat was very annoying and time consuming. He was even considering sending the cat back to his father and let him be the one to take care of her.

But after the mutation day, the cat changed.

She becomes somewhat humanlike and could even respond to him as if she was a human being.

Even though her intelligence seemed to be at the level of a child, she was more entertaining than the previously annoying cat he had to take care 24 hours a day.

If he had to say, he was more willing to stay with this somewhat intelligent yet also stupid little cat as compared to that completely stupid little cat. He was not so patient to take care of a little cat who only know how to make trouble for him.

Kyle looked at the scenery outside in silence.

There were still two more hours before dawn and then they had to begin preparing for the battle of the day.

...

That few hours passed by quietly.

This time, there were truly no one who disturbed them in the slightest bit anymore. After it was dawn, Kyle prepared food and disturbed Kate a bit to take some ingredients out. Even though Kate was not so pleased with this disturbance, she still followed what he wanted and take out the necessary ingredients.

He cooked simply and kicked the other two awake.

It seemed that their way of being friend was by beating each other up.

Well, it looked rather fun.

“Are you done, Little Kitty?” Kyle asked when he saw that Kate was staring at them. Had she finished drinking her milk?
