Chapter 99 He Called Wen Yantong’s Name (2)

After a while, hot water was delivered to the room. Wen Yantong stopped thinking and said, "Quick! Wipe the Little Marquis’ face and hands!"

The guard put the hot water by the bed. He was about to make a move when Wen Yantong stopped him. "...Didn't the Little Marquis bring your personal servant?"

Chi Jingxi replied, "Prohibited during the Clearing Snow Festival."

When he said this, Wen Yantong noticed that even Mu Yang and Cheng Xin didn't have their personal servants by their side, there were only guards.

Wen Yantong did trust the guards for such a delicate job; their rough actions would affect the wounds on Chi Jingxi's body. Mu Yang seemed to understand her concern. He rolled up his sleeves and stepped forward, volunteering, "I'll wipe Brother Xi."

"No, you’re even worse!" Wen Yantong pushed him aside, "Let me do it."

Wen Yantong put her hand into the basin and tested the temperature. The water was extremely hot, no cold water seemed to have been added. She endured the heat and wrung the cloth towel half dry. Wen Yantong then knelt down beside Chi Jingxi, and said to him, "Little Marquis, let me wipe off the blood on your face first."

Chi Jingxi was seriously injured and weak, rendering all of his aggressiveness as well. His eyes were full of tiredness, but nethertheless, he acquiesced.

Wen Yantong folded the cloth towel into the size of a palm. She started to wipe from the top of his forehead, to his sharp eyebrows, to his beautiful eyes, and then to his high nose bridge. She wiped it carefully and gently, clearing all of the blood spattered off  his face.

Wen Yantong put the cloth in the basin to wash off all the blood. After wringing it again, she wiped his neck, brushing over his Adam's apple, to the pale sides of his neck, not even missing behind the ears.

A guard changed the water, but when she washed the cloth in it, the water became bloody again.

After wiping his face and neck, she slowly wiped Chi Jingxi’s hands clean.

Chi Jingxi felt Wen Yantong's carefulness from the gentle force she applied onto his skin.

His ink black eyes seemed to be dipped in shattered stars. The light flickered faintly in his iris, revealing some softness.

Wen Yantong wiped Chi Jingxi's hands several times before wiping off all the blood. Afraid that he would become cold, she hurriedly covered Chi Jingxi’s hands with the quilt.

There was no definite time the doctor would come, so Wen Yantong didn't dare to relax her vigilance. Mu Yang kept talking to Chi Jingxi, but Chi Jingxi responded less and less.

Seeing this, Wen Yantong took out an oiled paper package, and said to Chi Jingxi, "Little Marquis, eat something to strengthen yourself."

Chi Jingxi didn't refuse, but he didn't agree either. He just looked at the things in her hand. Wen Yantong quickly unfolded the oil paper, inside were two stuffed biscuits. Wen Yantong bought this with her because she was afraid of going hungry on their trip to the temple.

The surface layer of the biscuit was a little warm, it was from being carried on Wen Yantong.

She handed one to Chi Jingxi's mouth.

Chi Jingxi didn't move at first. Wen Yantong thought he didn't want to eat, and when she was about to persuade him, Chi Jingxi opened his mouth and took a bite.

After Chi Jingxi chewed slowly, his expression was tinged with astonishment. "What kind of stuffing is this?"

Wen Yantong was puzzled by his reaction. "Meat stuffing? Doesn't Little Marquis eat meat?"

As soon as the words came out, everyone in the room was stunned. Mu Yang was startled, "You brought something stuffed with meat into a temple?"

Wen Yantong was still confused, "I can’t bring it?"

"It’s punishable by law!" Mu Yang said, "Anyone who eats meat in the temple is being disrespectful to the gods. The lighter sentence is being flogged, the more severe is to be imprisoned for three to five years."

"No way? To be sent to jail for eating a meat biscuit?" Wen Yantong was startled. She quickly wrapped the oil paper again, and stuffed it back into her sleeves. "I didn't eat it, it was the Little Marquis who ate it."

Chi Jingxi who just swallowed something: "..."

Mu Yang looked out. "No one saw it... there shouldn’t be a problem."

It happened that Cheng Xin came in with the guards, "See what?"

Mu Yang was about to speak, but Chi Jingxi quickly interrupted, "Nothing important. Is the matter settled?"

Cheng Xin nodded, "Yes. The movement just now woke up the students in the Academy. I have sent people to settle them down. The monks in the temple are still sleeping, so I didn't disturb them. I sent the available guards to surround the Nian'an Temple first. We’ll call another batch in the morning."

Chi Jingxi nodded.

Cheng Xin stepped forward worriedly, "Has the bleeding stopped?"

Wen Yantong glanced at Chi Jingxi's shoulder. The gauze was soaked with blood, but there was no sign of it dripping down, so she replied, "It seems to have stopped."

Cheng Xin sighed. "I didn't expect such a thing to happen in the middle of the night. Xiao Xi, if you hold on a little longer, the doctor will be here soon."

Chi Jingxi didn't speak.

The wound on his body made him feel uncomfortable. He couldn't help frowning, but his expression was calm.

Patience reveals the perseverance of a teenager.

Wen Yantong couldn't help sighing. The young Chi Jingxi already had such a strong character, what would he be like when he became an adult?

Several people talked with Chi Jingxi in the room for about half an hour, when the doctor finally arrived. When he came in, everyone immediately moved out of the way.

Wen Yantong was finally about to relax at this moment. Her body softened and she almost couldn't stand as walked out behind Fu Zixian.

"Wen Yantong." Suddenly someone called her name.

She turned her head and was in shock to see Chi Jingxi's peaceful eyes. He said to her, "Go and wash your face."

Wen Yantong’s eyes curved as she suddenly burst into a smile, "Little Marquis, this is the first time you called me by my name! I’ll remember this. You can't call me Little Cripple again in the future!"
