Chapter 29: Don’t be jealous

Bai Qingqing turned her head with confused eyes. She looked at Fu Chen’s cold face, not understanding what was wrong with him when a bit earlier today, they had been having fun in the shopping center.

Cheng Rui followed her gaze and also looked at Fu Chen. Fu Chen glanced at him and told Bai Qingqing: “You are not a professional doctor, let Liang Zhiyu do it.”

Bai Qingqing was stunned, she had really not expected Fu Chen to say that so suddenly.

Cheng Rui didn’t know why Fu Chen had recognized Bai Qingqing as his younger sister but these past few days, he had treated her with a lot of kindness, like he really regarded her as his sister to protect and spoil. However, Cheng Rui had forgotten for a moment that the two of them were now siblings; if he wanted to be with her, the captain would definitely stand in his way first. Brothers generally didn’t like men to look at their sisters. They thought men were wolves stalking prey and didn’t appreciate them. If Fu Chen’s baby sister gave him medicine, of course he would feel uncomfortable… But Cheng Rui remained silent, and Bai Qingqing didn’t want to lose the chance to brush the wounded man’s favor.

The members of the Thunder Squad were not often injured. If she missed out on this opportunity, there would be most likely no next time. They would reach Yaoyang Base soon and with so many people there, it would be even more difficult for her to get close to Cheng Rui.

“Brother, Liang Zhiyu taught me how to do it, I won’t make any mistakes.” Bai Qingqing promised sincerely, “Don’t worry, I will give the medicine well.”

Fu Chen stared at her with dark eyes, his eyes as sharp as a knife. Bai Qingqing was slightly shocked; she thought he was afraid she would not apply the medicine correctly and trouble Cheng Rui. But no matter how she promised to be careful, Fu Chen’s expression darkened even more. She trusted that her acting was impossible to be seen through, then what was happening?

Forget it, let’s pretend his face is normal and act like a cute baby later to appease him. Bai Qingqing turned back to Cheng Rui and did her nursing job. After applying the medicine, she took the gauze and bandaged him. Cheng Rui’s Adam’s apple moved slightly as her gentle and delicate fingers touched his skin, like a feather brushing his heart. It felt somehow ticklish and he tried his best to not grasp her hand. 

Once he was entirely wrapped up, they both breathed a sigh of relief. Bai Qingqing wiped the small layer of sweat on her forehead and showed a small smile: “Well, Liang Zhiyu said you couldn’t make any big moves. Just tell me when you need something.”

Cheng Rui nodded: “Thank you.”

Bai Qingqing started packing back the box and said: “No need to thank me, we are teammates after all. It’s normal to take care of you, not to mention you got injured trying to save me.”

How could he not keep a mark of such a serious injury? Cheng Rui didn’t care about it but seeing that she cared about it, he said: “Scars are a man’s medals.”

Bai Qingqing’s eyes flashed and she said in a mischievous tone: “Is that what it is? A medal for saving me?”

Cheng Rui’s heart moved slightly and he looked at her with burning eyes.

“Bai Qingqing, come here!” Fu Chen bellowed in a cold and angry voice.

Bai Qingqing quickly averted her gaze. She turned to a displeased Fu Chen and walked towards him.

“Brother, what’s wrong?”

Fu Chen grabbed her slender arm and dragged her into his room. The door was slammed shut, leaving Cheng Rui frowning outside.

The two of them stood up and faced each other in the middle of the bedroom. Fu Chen looked at the naive girl in front of him and the fire in his heart didn’t decrease.

Fu Chen was the most difficult character to play because of his suspicious and somber nature. It wouldn’t be easy to have him fall in love with her but she wanted to at least start a little fire and stimulate his strong possessive tendencies, so as to slowly change it. There was a prophetic saying: my brother became my boyfriend and later my husband.

When Xiao Yang had revealed he had a crush on her, Fu Chen had tried to match her with him and let them stay together when they arrived at the Beijing Base. But since she had taken on the Sea King’s script and was tackling several targets at the same time, she couldn’t admit she liked anyone; she needed to use her green tea and white lotus skills to their peak. Overly superficial green tea abilities were too recognizable and she had to be careful when using them, using an innocent or an attractive side when needed. 

Bai Qingqing freed herself from Fu Chen’s cold fingers and said in an aggrieved expression: “Brother, are you misunderstanding me again?”

Her eyes were bright and sincere and she looked up at him, “Every time in the team has a role, I also want to do my part. Cheng Rui was hurt trying to save me, I am taking care of him because I feel guilty…”

Bai Qingqing stretched out her hand and swore earnestly: “Brother is the most important in my heart, don’t be jealous okay?”

When Fu Chen heard the word ‘jealous’, he instinctively frowned. It wasn’t a term that existed in his vocabulary. 

He walked to the couch in the room and sat down, before looking at Bai Qingqing with dark eyes. He put his hand on the armrest, tilted his head slightly and his whole aura returned to its former indifference. A dangerous atmosphere spread in the room and the strong sense of pressure made Bai Qingqing nervous. She wanted to break free from this anxiety.

“Don’t move, just stand here.” Fu Chen stopped her from coming over and his eyes narrowed. Bai Qingqing stood in place like a manipulated puppet and let him stare at him.

“Brother, are you punishing me?” Bai Qingqing lowered her eyelashes and covered the light in her pupils. She added in a low voice: “If you don’t want me to give Cheng Rui medicine anymore, I will go talk to Doctor Liang.”

“No.” Fu Chen looked at the girl who was standing still, nervously playing with her fingers, just like a scared little lamb. A strange sense of excitement rose in his heart; after her memory loss, she had become so well behaved. He was the only one in her eyes and she would do anything he told her to. She would occasionally show some willfulness within his tolerance but he didn’t hate it; he liked indulging his sister and her coquetry and cuteness.

Bai Qingqing was like a beautiful little cat he had found on the side of the road; he had taken her to stay by his side and wanted to protect her all the time.

However, this little cat kept attracting people and sometimes rubbed them with her little paws, which made him particularly unhappy. She said he was jealous and this emotion was very new to him but when he realized it, he also realized that Bai Qingqing’s influence on him was deep and beyond his control.

Bai Qingqing kept her head down and never lifted it up. She couldn’t understand Fu Chen’s thoughts; he had indeed been angry because she had acted too close to Cheng Rui but as soon as she had said he was jealous, his mood had become extremely cold. She would have to use all of her acting skills later in order to conquer his rock-hard heart! Unless it was made of diamond, she would be able to break into it! There would be a day she would find a chance to squeeze in!

She took a deep breath and held back tears.

“Come here.” Fu Chen’s low and magnetic voice sounded, “Come to your brother.”

Bai Qingqing bit her lip and walked to him with her head still lowered. Her eyes fell on his slender legs, still not raising her chin to show her face.

Fu Chen wasn’t lying, she really looked beautiful crying. Her tears slowly fell from the corners of her eyes, just like bright pearls staining her delicate cheeks. The pitiful and delicate appearance made him want to bully her and make her cry for a while more.

Bai Qingqing told herself to not get angry and tried to hold back the tears so she wouldn’t do as he wanted. Her acting skills were good enough that she could cry on demand but she couldn’t stop as she wanted.

After a few whimpers, she pushed him with her hands: “Brother, you are really too much.”

Fu Chen took out a beautiful pair of earrings and showed them to her: “Do you like them?”
