Chapter 25: Exciting battlefield

If Bai Qingqing had dared to hit Bai Tiantian before losing her memory, she would definitely have gotten in trouble. This time however, not only had she slapped Bai Tiantian and taught her a lesson, nobody had tried to stop her except for Shen Mingxuan but she had also attracted the admiration of the others.

Since Bai Tiantian was a girl, it was not easy for strong men to scold her. Every time she did something wrong, she would apologize with guilt and because her reasons were usually her kindness, the men couldn’t bear to blame her.

Bai Qingqing gave people a different feeling every time. She usually looked weak and delicate but when she faced a crisis with the team, she would not only not delay anyone but also help. Most men didn’t expect the girls to help beat the zombies but they were hoping they wouldn’t go around causing troubles, let alone provoke danger themselves.

Bai Qingqing noticed everyone’s eyes were on her and she rubbed her red cheeks, a little embarrassed. Hadn’t it been for her incapacity to understand Bai Tiantian’s mind, she would not have been blinded by anger nor revealed her more “savage” side in front of the men. Ah, her image!

But her sky appearance was so different from the previous cold behavior and they found her inexplicably cute.

Fu Chen moved his long legs and came to her. He stretched out his arm and pulled her to him. His embrace was very warm and the tall body hugged her tightly as if he was afraid to be separated from her a minute longer. 

Ugh, too tight, can’t breathe!

Bai Qingqing was suddenly held like this by a man in front of her other targets and felt a little embarrassed and irritated. Fortunately, she had not succeeded in seducing any of them, otherwise the result would have been a bit messy.

But it seemed that Fu Chen really cared about his fake sister and after such a crisis, he had been worried about her. Bai Qingqing couldn’t help but think of Xiao Yang, who was already somewhat tempted and wanted to check on his expression.

Xiao Yang was feeling bitter again. It was really good to have the status of an older brother, Fu Chen could hug Sister Qingqing as much as he wanted! And he could only watch them, with a face distorted by the jealousy in his heart.

“Brother!” Bai Qingqing was a little flustered. She stretched out a hand to push Fu Chen away, “Everyone is watching, let go.”

Fu Chen glanced indifferently and locked her in his arms again, “You are my sister, can’t I hug my sister?”

Bai Tiantian was left out in the cold and cried for a while more. After she wiped her tears, she walked to Bai Qingqing and tried to hold her hand to talk to her, but when she recalled Fu Chen’s previous warning, she immediately withdrew her arm in fear.

“Qingqing, I’m sorry.” She apologized with red eyes.

“It’s good to realize your mistakes. This is the end of the world, if you want to save people, you must first look at your own strength. If you don’t have the ability, don’t hurt others.”

Bai Tiantian bit her pale lips: “I know.”

Bai Qingqing still had some worries in her heart, after all, with her Virgin Mary halo, it would be better to still watch after her in the future. She didn’t want to save Bai Tiantian from herself but she didn’t want her or the rest of the team to get into trouble again because of her.

They were not that far away from Wucheng and didn’t know if ability users were still chasing after them; they couldn’t stay here too long.

When she had first come, she had been scared of zombies and just wanted to seek protection in order to survive. She had regarded all these people as book characters, just like NPCs in a game, and had had no feeling for them at all. But perhaps because of her first side mission, Bai Qingqing had gradually integrated into this world and had started to care no only for the protagonist group, but also for A-mei, Awang, and Abao who had given her a bag of dry fruits.

Cheng Rui was her target but for the original Bai Qingqing, he had been the person to kill her. According to the novel, he had treated her coldly before shooting her in the head. Yet Cheng Rui was the kind of person to put people in his heart first and protect them to the end, even at the cost of his own life. When he would fall in love, he would be like the dark knight silently protecting his beloved and burying his feelings.

When Bai Qingqing thought of this, her eyes narrowed slightly and the corners of her lips twitched. 

Cheng Rui’s injury put her mission strategy to the side and she started applying the medicine hoping he would get better soon; when they reached Yaoyang base, the man would stay with his sister.

Bai Qingqing watched Liang Zhiyu pack up the medical supplies and asked with a worried look: “Doctor Liang, will he be okay?”

Liang Zhiyu was aware Cheng Rui had been hurt trying to save Bai Qingqing and guessed she must be full of guilt.

“He will wake up in the next two days, don’t worry.”

Bai Qingqing showed a pitiful expression and said: “It’s my fault. If it weren’t for me, Cheng Rui wouldn’t be in this state.”

Liang Zhiyu looked at the injured man on the bed and replied: “It is normal for us to get injured. Don’t blame yourself too much.”

Bai Qingqing nodded and her eyes brightened, “Doctor Liang, teach me how to give him medicine. I will take care of him in the future.”

Liang Zhiyu’s eyes went dark and he wondered if the girl would fall in love with Cheng Rui because he had saved her. If it was the case, Xiao Yang would be heartbroken.

Bai Qingqing quickly learned basic wound treatment and smiled: “Thank you, Doctor Liang.”

Liang Zhiyu looked at her: “Don’t always call me Doctor Liang.”

“Ah. Don’t you like it?”

Liang Zhiyu had a warm expression: “It’s a bit strange, just call me by my name.”

“Oh, okay.”

The man acted calmly and was always gentle but his somewhat alienated personality made it difficult to understand his emotions. Bai Qingqing estimated seducing him would be even more difficult than Shen Mingxuan.

When the two of them came out of the room, the outside had been cleaned by the others and Bai Tiantian was busy in the kitchen. Looking at her back, Bai Qingqing couldn’t help but think that without her Virgin Mary and Mary Sue halos, she would genuinely be liked by men very much.

Fu Chen and Xiao Yang went around the house to check the situation and clean up the few zombies so as to not be suddenly attacked at night. Shen Mingxuan was the only one in the living room and he frowned slightly when he saw Bai Qingqing and Liang Zhiyu come out.

Bai Qingqing went to the kitchen and called: “Liang Zhiyu, come here.”

Liang Zhiyu joined her and asked: “What’s wrong?”

“I have an idea. We have some time right now, why don’t we marinate some meat that has not expired? When we are in a hurry later, we can eat it.”

Liang Zhiyu smiled lightly: “Why didn’t we think of that before?”

Bai Qingqing blinked: “Then shall we start?”

“Let’s do it.” Liang Zhiyu elegantly rolled up his sleeves, ready to go all out.

Bai Qingqing took out some chicken, duck, and other meats from the space, and Bai Tiantian brought the water to rinse.

When Fu Chen and Xiao Yang came back, they saw the three of them in the kitchen and when she noticed them, Bai Qingqing smiled softly at them. Although she was obviously smiling at both of them, Xiao Yang took it personally and rushed over like a little puppy.

“Qingqing, what are you doing?”

“Marinating meat.”

Her sleeve slipped down her arm and she quickly asked: “Can someone help me roll up my sleeve?”
