Chapter 248 Real Reason

When the next monster appeared, Seris immediately grabbed her weapon to aim, but Aion got in the way. She sighed since it looked like he enjoyed the idea of putting himself in harm's way… as someone who liked to act and attack the target before anything else, Seris couldn't understand that way of thinking. It was just too hardcore and looked crazy.

The beast gained speed since it was running in a straight line, but then Aion suddenly charged after using Force Release for a moment. An impact happens forty meters away from Seris and Sauros, causing a powerful shockwave. When they blinked, they saw Aion being pushed by the monster's body, and then they grabbed their weapons, but before they could pull the trigger, the beast fell to the side…

Aion pulled his spear from the forehead of the monster… and then his hands began to bleed. One usually wouldn't try to face a monster like that, but for someone like Aion, who could level up, it was only natural to try that kind of challenge. In any case, thanks to critical thirst, his hands soon healed, and the bleeding stopped… his bones were still vibrating, though, but only he knew that.

"We will keep advancing like this," Aion said.

Since that was possible, they didn't have any reason to stop. So, they followed Aion while offering the bare minimum of support. They only attacked when he asked, and that was when the monsters didn't focus on him but on those two.

Eventually, Aion had to stop with the strong front and begin to heal himself before his cracked bones could damage his muscles. He was getting used to it and was improving, but everything had a limit. Even Aion's thirst for training.

When the lancer class reached level forty, Aion checked his parameters and the new skill. The level-ups helped a bit, but what really helped were the claws and fangs made of crystal that were refining the spear insanely fast… he still had quite the stock of them since they couldn't be processed like that. At that rate, it won't be weird if Aion makes that reach the max level of refinement.

"I guess I will be able to refine the weapons of other classes… After this, I should focus on the monk class," Aion thought. "It will be better to scare the crap out of my enemies with punches alone than with big and flashy weapons."

Aion also felt pretty comfortable with punching and kicking since he did some boxing and kickboxing in his previous life. In any case, after a couple of hours, he started to feel quite tired… The fights weren't lasting for long, so the cause was probably Force Release. Even if that was only used for a moment, that still was demanding to his body after using it dozens if not hundreds of times.

"I need to take a break. Are you guys going to keep moving, or should we rest here?" Aion asked.

"We will stop. We all need to take a break and rest our eyes, even if for a short while," Sauros said. "You can go and rest first as well, Seris. I have rested plenty."

"Well, we didn't do much aside from walking in a while, so wake me up soon," Seris said.

Aion made some earth blocks for everyone to sit down or lay down on since the ice on the ground could freeze their bodies even with the armor on the way. As if he had become an android that could decide for how long he was going to rest, Aion fell asleep once he closed his eyes and then opened them when the exhaustion mainly had left his body… Seris was still snoring on the side, though. Meanwhile, Sauros was still awake and facing the monsters alone. At least three hours had passed, so Aion wondered why he suddenly had more mana.

"I am fine now. I will watch the surroundings until your sister wakes up," Aion declared.

"Thanks to my power, I can control my sleep pattern and efficiency quite a bit," Sauros said. "So, let's talk for a bit."

"I am not interested, I won't say that I don't have any secrets to hide, but none of mine can affect the lives of others," Aion said. "With that in mind, I don't have anything to talk about."

"I think you are wrong about that," Sauros said. "Your secrets… the abilities that you have will definitely affect the lives of many people."

"It isn't the same way as the traditions of your family," Aion said. "If people die indirectly due to my power, that wouldn't be my problem. The fault would be theirs for letting their lives be affected like that by those who are stronger than them."

"You are wrong about that, you have the powers that some people had in the past, and while you are hiding that, some people already know about it," Sauros said. "I am trying to help you with that, but I can't turn my back on my family."

"Good for you. You guys have the tradition of causing problems to others while you try to help each other," Aion said. "To be honest, I don't mind that you have information about me, even if you have written many things, which I know that you already have. What pisses me off is that you probably have even more about my mother."
