Chapter 121 Options

Although naming it like that made it sound rather weird, Aion's night activities didn't end there. He still had one hell of a surprise for the next group…

When he arrived at the port, Aion saw the scarlet tigers sleeping. The enemies hadn't attacked until now after the first battle. They were probably trying to come up with a plan to stop Aion's magic. He was planning to give them even more trouble… they might come up with a plan on how to deal with his regular magic, but not what will come up next.

Just like the first group, the second had put some lookouts around… at that point in time. They were probably worried about reinforcements arriving in the middle of the night and attacking them. Although it was close to midnight, they noticed that something was coming from the ocean.

At first, the lookouts thought that it was only a big shadow created by a cloud or something, but then they heard the sound of footsteps and the uneasy sound of something weird clacking against each other on a firm rhythm. When the lookouts began to move to alert the others, they were hit by ice arrows that pierced them from the sides. This time, they froze instantly, and they didn't have time to feel any pain.

Aion waited until the last moment to attack the lookouts, he wasn't using the Archer class, so his ability to find them had decreased immensely. He could use magic, but Aion decided to save his mana…

After dealing with the lookouts, the skeletons that came from the sea got in range to attack… he had used the bodies of those that died during the day to summon only skeleton archers. Thanks to that, before the targets could notice anything, a rain of arrows fell on their camp.

"Arrgghhh!"

"Urrrggghhh!"

"Enemy… attack!"

The enemy soldiers began to grunt in pain, and just like the first, they had no idea where the attacks were coming from since the arrows were being fired upward. After looking around for a while, they managed to find that massive shadow of skeletons, and then they began to prepare to engage in battle. It was risky, but it was the type of thing that they would do in that situation…

"Well, now… what should I do?" Aion rubbed his chin thoughtfully.

Aion could just let the skeletons die and make the enemies think that they just happened to show up there and there was a dungeon of skeletons underwater or something. Or Aion could join the fight and attack from another direction with his magic… unless he wipes out more than four thousand of enemies, some rumors will spread around and people will think that he can use Necromancy, at least the people of the Rosberg kingdom would know that.

That might cause problems, but it might spare Aion from troubles as well. If they fear that kind of thing, they will leave him alone. And he won't have to worry about invasions that often.

"Let's scare them to the point that people won't believe them…" Aion said and then smirked.

When the enemies finally began to move in the direction of the skeletons coming from the North, Aion appeared from the south and attacked those who were still preparing to fight. Ice Arrows began to pierce their bodies left and right… thanks to the darkness of the night, they didn't have the chance to see the attacks coming.

Unlike the skeletons that kept their distance, Aion approached and revealed himself. At first, the enemies flinched and didn't know what to do. They thought that Aion would summon the fire tornado again and burn them down to a crisp, but a few of them had balls of steel and stepped forward.

"Don't retreat! He is alone!"

"Take his head and obtain the glory of ending this war!"

"He is the piece of shit that killed master Caelis! Let's kill him!"

Several of the soldiers shouted in unison. The words of a few of them raised the morale of the whole group. That was troublesome… even if they lose large numbers, an army with high morale will ignore all that in order to take the head of the enemy commander. They began to charge at Aion like madmen… which was convenient for him, but Aion couldn't kill all of them, he didn't have that much mana, and he couldn't recover enough without meditating.

Regardless, that was a problem for later… Aion let the enemies get as close as possible before firing Ice Arrows at them. They raised their shields and weapons to block those, but it was useless. The projectiles pierced through them and then eventually hit their bodies, turning them into ice statues.

The enemy archers pointed their bows upward in hopes of hitting Aion's body with their arrows, and while those rained down on the area he had been in, he quickly escaped them by jumping backward after using Inner Force. Despite the surprise, the archers tried again, but in that short window of time, several of their allies fell due to the arrows…

Aion did that for a while until his mana reached thirty percent of the maximum… around one thousand of the enemies had been defeated. Although most of them had targeted Aion, a lot of the skeleton archers had fallen as well. The flow of the battle wasn't in his favor…

"It can't be helped…" Aion thought and then pointed his hands at the bodies of some enemies.

The frozen statues began to explode, and while didn't cause any damage, it surprised the enemies a bit… they ignored that until they began to be hit on their back by Fireballs. When they turned around, they saw thirty or so skeleton wizards, monsters using wands and cloaks… their attacks began to melt the enemies' armor and weapons… Aion used his remaining mana to summon thirty of them, but at least that helped him wipe out the most reckless ones that got too close to him.
