Chapter 97 Flying

Aion didn't find much resistance along the way until he reached the southern gate… as expected, the people of that town didn't suffer enough over the years, and now their guard was low as it could be… Regardless, Aion reached the southern gate and made the Scarlet Tigers bombard the gate with their powerful flamethrower. They were fast and could use magic on that level… he couldn't have asked for better pets.

The gate fell insanely fast, to the point that the few guards on the walls didn't have time to react. Aion jumped on the back of one of the tigers and then made them run toward the south at moderate speed to make sure that some of the guards that he didn't knock down would chase him. That will improve the chances of the prisoners having an easier time leaving the town.

After a couple of minutes, Aion confirmed that some guards riding horses began to chase him. They had rapid-fire crossbows, so they tried to hit him from a long distance… Still, the Scarlet Tigers sped up and avoided the attack.

Aion saw a small forest ahead, it seemed like a good place to lose the enemies, but that wasn't his goal at the moment… it was annoying that he couldn't check the situation with his death knight. Still, it was clear that he needed to buy some extra time.

With that in mind, Aion made the Scarlet Tigers turn around and then fire Fireballs at the legs of the horses. They missed, but that was Aion's intention from the beginning… the impact on the ground, the horses panic and move around uncontrollably until their riders begin to fall. The second wave of horses made the horses run in all directions…

Aion achieved his goal and then saw an even larger group of riders leaving the town… they sure didn't want to let the Scarlet Tigers escape. In any case, Aion made the monsters run south faster than before. With that many guards chasing him, it became clear that the others would have an easy time running away.

"Unlike Caelis, that guy isn't that famous, and since I never showed him until now, his identity will remain a secret," Aion thought.

Aion allowed the enemies to chase him for a few hours, but one hour before sunrise, he made the monsters increase their speed while he was heading southwest… that way, the enemies might think that he was from the Rosberg kingdom.

"Unless they come up with some crazy lie, they won't rally the whole kingdom to start a war over this," Aion thought. "Besides, the king spies will inform him of the truth… that they lost slaves for their complacency. Let's see how he will play his cards after that…"

Although he stopped to give them meat now and then, the Scarlet Tigers were still a bit underweight, so they got exhausted after not so long. Aion only wanted to rest after they found the next target, so he decided to create an ice platform and fly. Since he didn't notice the dark knight getting much of his mana, that would be fine.

"I see… so this is how a B movie villain feels like," Aion said while patting the head of the scarlet tigers that were resting on his lap. "Putting that aside, the number of slaves in that prison was quite small… I don't know how you guys reproduce, but I assumed that they would try to make as many of you to sell… I guess I can't expect much for retard nobles and their minions."

Although he said that, Aion decided to keep his guard up and see what would happen with caution… He would need several things to make that work, though. Like informants and spies… finding those will be hard when he barely has any soldiers. Hopefully, that semi-revenge trip won't be a total waste of time, and some of the prisoners will join his camp.

Regardless, while Aion could only fly for half an hour on the ice platform, he managed to cross dozens of kilometers since it could fly as fast as his real magic projectiles. Thanks to that, he found his next target before noon. It was another walled… base of a noble family. Still, it was a city this time… things will be complicated now.

"Well, I need to rest for the time being," Aion said while looking around and finding a dense grove to hide. "I can worry about this later."

After landing, Aion walked around the grove and confirmed that people from the city rarely come there, but he still decided to make some pitfalls on the possible paths that people might use if they approached. Aion was quite the heavy sleeper since he was used to staying awake for more than twenty hours straight…

In the end, no one approached, and Aion and his tigers slept until sunset. While filling his belly with some meat, Aion wondered how he should proceed. His death knight still was working escorting the prisoners, so Aion couldn't change his class. It seemed like flying above the city and then landing somewhere was his best option again…

"I guess you guys will stay behind… I can't let the enemies know that I used you guys here… even though they will assume that I was the attacker as well," Aion said to the scarlet tigers. "The distance between targets isn't something that normal people could cross on a single day, but… Maybe I should use you guys to create some distractions."

Most people used ravens to communicate over long distances, but Aion couldn't discard the possibility that some people had magic items that could do that for them a lot faster. So, there was a chance that the enemies of that city would be waiting for him. Still, if Aion makes the scarlet tigers attack, they will think that he is outside waiting for his chance to invade…

"You guys should attack that gave around midnight… I hope I can trust your sense of time…" Aion said.
