My morning comes early and my alarm goes off at 5:30. I’ve become so sleep-deprived that I only sleep a little and wake up feeling fine.

I concluded to myself that I am a short sleeper, but if I went to a hospital, I would be diagnosed as an insomniac.

It’s cold… This is the only thing I thought as soon as I woke up in the morning. There is no futon on the bed, and I check under it to see if they are under it.

Gradually I wake up and remember what had happened yesterday. I had given the futon to the Assassin.

It is cold, though I was too busy worrying about the temperature yesterday to pay attention to it.

I’ll make a warm cup of coffee. It’s Saturday, and I don’t have to work. I should be able to relax. Maybe I’ll read a book or something. Luckily, I have a lot of comic books.

With these thoughts in my mind, I walk from my bedroom to the living room. And then I witness an angel.

“Too cute… ”

I couldn’t recognize her completely yesterday because of the darkness, but I knew it, she had a neat face. And her face, which has a somewhat sultry look to it, is just right for my taste.

The Assassin’s outfit is, in a word, sexy. Or rather, I think they are very revealing. I can’t hide my surprise at the thought that she was going to kill me in such an outfit.

I conclude that she might have been trying to attack me in a different way, and I make a cup of coffee with a sigh. Then I go to the washroom, brush my teeth and make the bed, and after that, I go to the Assassin.

“Your sleeping face is too cute!”

The Assassin, who was showing her unprotected sleeping face, looked so lovely that I couldn’t believe she was the same person who had spoken sharply to me last night.

As I watched her sleeping, clutching the covers, I felt as if it didn’t matter that I was cold.

I couldn’t help but take a picture of such an assassin with my phone. I guess it’s expected that she will get pissed off later.

Then, the Assassin wakes up, rubbing her eyes.

“Muh? …sigh. Sagami… The first face I see when I wake up is you. This is the worst wake-up I’ve had in a while.”

“The first face I see when I wake up is the Assassin. This is the best wake-up I’ve had in a while. Here, coffee.

The Assassin takes the coffee I hand her. I guess she trusts me a little more now that she’s not checking to see if she’s been poisoned.

“But, well, it’s been years since I woke up in the morning and had people around me…”

The Assassin mutters with a slightly weak smile as she sips her coffee. Unlike the Assassin, I reply nonchalantly as I lean back on the couch.

” …hmm? What kind of place did the Assassin live? ”

“A room in an Institution. It was a large room that was rarely visited and where most of the food, clothing, and shelter were provided. ”

“What, are you insulting me by saying I’m doing the same? Because you’re tied to the pillar?”

“Well, yes. But I think it was a lonely place. I don’t remember much. I didn’t talk to people back then.”

The Assassin tells us the story of how she came to be here. I didn’t ask her to tell me anything in particular, but she’s telling me something.

“Why are you telling me an old story, Assassin? Oh, that… [ I want you to like me in the past too, not only the present me ], something like that?”

“Sigh… I was an idiot to tell you.”

Saying this, the Assassin sighs in exasperation. But she wasn’t really disappointed, more like obliged. Seeing her like that, I chuckle again.

“No, it doesn’t matter. I like the Assassin, and I want to like all of her, including her past.”

“I don’t know. I don’t really want you to like me.”

“You’re a tsundere, Assassin.”

I laugh. Perhaps sensing that there was nothing to be said, the silent Assassin opened her mouth next after she finished her coffee.

“Well, it’s a little fun talking to you compared to back then. But only a little bit. ”

The Assassin talks to me as if she expects some reply from me. I feel that this is the first time that the Assassin has shown her interest in me, but if I tease her about this, maybe she won’t take me seriously.

So I reply in a relatively simple way.

“Well, I’m glad to hear that.”

“Huh? Don’t you want to say something more? ”

The Assassin looks at me with a slightly dejected look on her face. The look on her face tickles my mischievous curiosity.

“What? Did you think I’d say you were cute? I got your hopes up, didn’t I?”

The Assassin looks caught off guard, and her ears turn a little red.

“That’s not true! You’re so full of yourself. Go away!”

The Assassin turns her head away. I don’t need to go anywhere because this is my house. Besides, it is human nature to want to stay here if you are told to go somewhere.

I decide to spend today’s holiday reading a book next to the Assassin.
