Xie Jianwei’s body might have succumbed into a disease that proved to be fatal in many cases, but he remained calm.

He even had an in-depth discussion in his head with Yan Ke about the best treatment for such an illness ¾and of course, it’s a medical discourse based on the Interstellar age.

Yan Ke said a bunch of academic terms and Xie Jianwei replied: [That is an idea worthy of research. Destruction and reconstruction always go hand in hand.]

When Yan Ke heard that, his eyes lit up: [You mean the technique of human body remodeling, My Lord?]

Xie Jianwei thought of the several “Lu Lis” soaked in large glass tanks, and couldn’t help but feel stifled inside: [I just want to ruin this kind technology.]

Yan Ke derided, [The benefits outweigh the disadvantages. By reshaping the body, human beings can break through the lots of limitations and perhaps, could even live forever.]

Xie Jianwei’s words were just a remark made out of anger. After all, he knew that no one would act like the Marshal who wanted to separate himself and then kill those copies of himself.

The two were leisurely chatting inside, but Lu Li who was outside the ward, felt like he was falling into the abyss.

As soon as the medical report came out, he felt like everything before his eyes went dark.

The shock came harder than it would be if the name on the report had been his own.

Xie Jianwei, death.

Those words put together elicited a huge fear inside him, like a thick dark cloud, covering his entire chest.

Even though he knew that he would probably never receive Xie Jianwei’s heart in this lifetime, he thought that he could instead still obtain his whole person.

It’s okay if Xie Jianwei doesn’t love him. As long as they stay together throughout their life, even if they continue only being in such a relationship, he’ll be contented.

But now, a predicament that he had no power to avoid nor solve, was happening,

It seemed like even fate itself wanted to take him away.

Lu Li felt great helplessness.

He was already dismayed at the thought  of being unable to obtain Xie Jianwei’s heart, but now… it’s as if  the latter’s whole existence had become translucent that he could barely grasped him.

Can’t die.

Xie Jianwei can’t die.

The doctor gave an explanation about the possible treatment plan for Xie Jianwei’s condition. The most effective treatment for this disease given with the current technology is bone marrow transplant, and if the matching degree is high, it’s possible that there would be no rejection after the transplant 1 and the patient could achieve complete recovery after surgery.

However, without a bone marrow transplant, Xie Jianwei, in his current condition, would not have long to live and that remaining short life of his would be also filled with pain and despair.

“I don’t know if Mr. Xie has any family members?” The doctor asked.

Lu Li was taken aback for a moment, and slowly said, “He has an older brother.”

Xie Jianwei’s mother had already passed away, and his father and two elder brothers committed suicide in prison, leaving only Xie Zhiwei as his last nearest kin.

Upon hearing that the patient still had a brother, the doctor was quite happy as he said: “I hope they can undergo bone marrow typing 2 as soon as possible. Although siblings are only half-related on average, but, if they match, performing the transplant is possible.”

Lu Li casted his eyes down: “I will arrange for it promptly.”

After a slight pause, Lu Li said to the doctor: “Please don’t tell him the news yet.”

The doctor understood: “Rest assured; everything will be according to the family member’s wishes.”3

Upon the doctor’s departure, Lu Li was left standing on the empty aisle. The cold wind from outside the window blew straight into his chest, enveloping his almost-paralyzed heart.

When Xie Jianwei woke up again, Lu Li was already by his side.

He turned his head to look at him: “Senior.”

Lu Li stayed with him throughout the night. He was holding Xie Jianwei’s hand  with his eyes closed, but he immediately opened his eyes when he heard the patient’s voice. His eyes were tinged with worry as he asked: “Do you feel uncomfortable any where?”

“It’s okay; I slept a lot so I have much more energy now.” Xie Jianwei laughed and looked around before he asked in surprise, “The hospital? Why am I in a hospital?”

“You fainted on the set.”

“Well, there’s no need for me to be hospitalized just because of that, right? I’m probably just exhausted because of the continuous filming that’s why I fainted.”

Hearing those words, Lu Li felt a sting in his heart. He was careless¾ he shouldn’t have allowed Xie Jianwei to tighten up his own shooting schedule like that.  Healthy people couldn’t stand continuous filming, let alone this young man.

But Xie Jianwei was still saying, “My body really needs some exercise. I’m so weak.”

Lu Li’s eyes darkened.

Xie Jianwei turned his head to look at him again: “Senior, let’s do some work-out together after we return home!” He blinked his eyes then stared at Lu Li’s abdomen and said, “I’m jealous of those abs!”

If it was before, Lu Li would have kissed him given with his seductive look, but now… Thinking of Xie Jianwei’s physical condition, it’s as if his heart was being constantly churned into a lump of mass ¾it felt painful, to the point where even breathing felt like his bones and flesh were being pulled out.

“Senior?”

“Okay… Whatever you want to do, we’ll do it together.”

Xie Jianwei smiled, seemingly tired, fell asleep quietly after turning his head slightly.

He’s suffering from a cancer, but Xie Jianwei still lived quite comfortably.

He finally didn’t have to rush to shoot his scenes and make publicity programs.  He was convinced that being an artist was “not an occupation meant for humans”, because apart from entertaining others, you’d barely have any time to entertain yourself.

But everything is all right now. He was enjoying himself just by lying on the bed and playing games ¾well, except those times when he think about Lu Li and can’t make love¾ everything is perfect.

What’s more, because of “God’s will”, Xie Jianwei didn’t feel any pain at all, just that he gets tired easily, and would fall asleep inadvertently while playing on his phone.

He reckoned that his family’s Da-Li’s 4 frame of mind during these times was like this: “Xie Jianwei must feel no pain… no pain… there must be no pain;  Xie Jianwei should rest…must rest… should rest more often…”

This will power within Lu Li’s consciousness was so intense that Xie Jianwei couldn’t feel any pain at all, as in nothing —even that tiny bit of stinging when drawing blood for laboratory tests was non-existent.

Lu Li pushed off all of his work and just accompanied Xie Jianwei the whole time.

“Senior, you don’t to be with me all the time. I’m not seriously ill. I just need to rest for two days.” Xie Jianwei reminded him several times

Lu Li was peeling an orange for him. He didn’t look up when he heard what Xie Jianwei said and instead picked one segment  of the orange and fed it to the young man’s mouth: “I haven’t had much to do lately.”

“Really? Don’t you have to deal with some important documents regarding Soaring Pictures?”

“I handled those while you were sleeping.”  After a pause, he finally found a good excuse, “Besides,  there is a time difference.”

The daytime here is the night over there, and vice versa.

.

.

.

Xie Jianwei became a salted fish for two days just like what he wished for, and when he woke up on the third day, Lu Li wasn’t around.

Yan Ke’s little head was functioning efficiently nowadays: “I think it’s most likely that Xie Zhiwei had arrived in Country M by now.”

One day for contacting Xie Zhiwei, plus the speed of the cute “airplane” from S city to Country M. With those two components considered, the fastest arrival time would be today.

Xie Jianwei smiled.

Yan Ke asked: “Do you have any plans my lord?” Xie Zhiwei would definitely do something. He didn’t know how Military Advisor Xie would respond.

Xie Jianwei was unperturbed: “I don’t need to do anything.”

.

.

.

Yan Ke guessed right. Xie Zhiwei had indeed arrived in Country M. After staying on the plane for so long, he looked exhausted, however, Lu Li didn’t give him time to rest at all. The latter explained the situation to him right away.

“Jianwei is my brother and I owe him a lot. I won’t just sit back while he’s suffering.”

“That would be for the best. I’ve already arranged a bone marrow typing in the afternoon, so we’ll have to go…”

Xie Zhiwei was listening to Lu Li’s explanation, but their conversation took a turn when he suddenly interrupted  in a low voice: “I have a condition.”

Lu Li’s eyes narrowed and he looked at Xie Zhiwei without blinking: “He is your brother.”

Xie Zhiwei wasn’t afraid and also stared back without hesitation: “Yes, it is precisely because he is my brother that I have to mention this condition!”

Lu Li: “Speak.”

“Break up with him.”

He was already expecting such words, but after hearing it directly, Lu Li couldn’t help but grit his teeth.

Xie Zhiwei repeated: “You are not suitable for each other. Although the Xie family has fallen, I can still take care of him. I can’t let him abuse himself like this.”

“And if I don’t?” asked Lu Li.

Xie Zhiwei’s face became cold: “Our Xie family doesn’t need a child that depends on men to live!¾” (t/n: the audacity of this bi—)

“SMACK!!”

As soon as Xie Zhiwei’s words fell, Lu Li punched him in the face. He said in a low voice, “What right do you have to say this? Huh?”

Xie Zhiwei turned his head in pain as blood spilled from the corners of his mouth, but his voice was still very calm: “I owe him and of course, I will compensate for that. But because I am his brother, I can’t just watch him fall like this!”

Is it considered a “depravity” for him to be with me? Lu Li clenched his hands, and took a deep breath: “Do the matching first.”

It’s too early to mention conditions. It wouldn’t be too late to mention such things after a successful matching.

Xie Zhiwei said: “Okay, but you better remember that if you don’t agree to my terms, I would rather not have a younger brother!”

After leaving those words, Xie Zhiwei left while Lu Li’s face was filled with haze.

Does Xie Zhiwei really care about Xie Jianwei?

Not necessarily.

What is he planning?

Lu Li’s heart was in a mess, but he was still quite cool-headed.

He couldn’t force Xie Zhiwei to do a bone marrow transplant, so he could only agree to his conditions.

It seems that only by agreeing to his terms will he come to know what Xie Zhiwei truly wants.

Furthermore, his top priority is to get Xie Jianwei out of danger as soon as possible.

He didn’t want him to suffer¾ not even the tiniest pain.

********

The next day, Lu Li accompanied Xie Zhiwei to do the histocompatibility typing. The doctor looked surprised when the low-resolution results came out: “Six points matched. Well then, let’s do the high-resolution at once.  As long as we get eight points, you can do the transplant.”

Of course, it would be better if the match reaches ten points.

Everything was as Xie Jianwei predicted. After the final results came out, the doctor almost doubted whether or not Xie Zhiwei is Xie Jianwei’s identical twin.

100% compatibility– there is simply no one more suitable than him!

In contrast to the doctor were quite astonished after the results came out,  Xie Jianwei was quite calm: How could it become different when  in this dreamscape, the two ”Wills” 5 wanted it to be so?  If it failed, then there must be ghosts! (t/n:

The match was successful, so Xie Zhiwei asked Lu Li, “So, what about the terms that I’ve set?”

Lu Li stared at him and eventually said, “I promise.”

Xie Zhiwei smiled and said, “Just a promise? You have to put it into action.”

“What? What do you mean?”

“Jianwei’s current situation is very stable.  For his sake, don’t tell him about his condition for the time being and let him relax for a while. Wait until everything is ready and when the surgery is done…”

Lu Li waited for him to continue.

“So for the meantime, I want you to go out 6with me.” continued Xie Zhiwei.

Lu Li’s eyes squinted: “You think he likes me?”

“Whether he likes you or not doesn’t matter. As long as we’re ‘dating’, then he’ll never touch his brother’s man again.”

Lu Li understood what he meant, but it was nothing to him. Xie Jianwei didn’t like him in the first place, so no matter who he was with, the young man would probably only regret that he’d lost a Gold Master.”

“Just ‘acting’…” Lu Li clarified.

Xie Zhiwei: “That’s right.”

Translator’s notes:

But on XJW and LL’s case:  XJW would sometimes addressed LL as Lu Da Li, but those situations usually have an innuendo to it, that’s why I translated it as Lu ‘Big’ Li y’know what I mean.  But in here, XJW is using Dà-  as some sort of an intimacy prefix just like ā (阿) (i.e Ah-Wei; Ah-Li)
