At night, after coming back from her neighbor’s, Luo Shuyan took a shower and got ready for bed. Right before that, she saw Luo Tianyuan on the phone at the coach.

She had no interest in her father’s work life or love life. Just as she was about to enter her bedroom, she heard —

“I’ve paid 40,000 Yuan as down payment, and I’ll be paying off the remaining 100,000 Yuan within the month…”

“A second-hand car is great. It doesn’t attract unnecessary attention. What do you mean whether it’s appropriate? It’s merely a means of transportation.”

“Though, 140,000 Yuan is way cheaper than I expected.”

Luo Tianyuan was talking to his best friend, Song Qianjin.

Song Qianjin was the few who knew of his disguise. Luo Tianyuan had deployed him to Shenzhen and Hong Kong to understand the market. The Hong Kong property market crashed not too long ago and a few had committed suicide through carbon monoxide intoxication.

Luo Tianyuan was observing from afar. He didn’t plan to stop there, he had bigger plans.

Other than his main company, he also wanted to try out his luck in the entertainment industry. However, his daughter was still very young and he didn’t want to leave her, so he merely asked his friend to help him keep an eye out on the outside world for him.

When Song Qianjin found out that Luo Tianyuan had bought a second-hand car, he immediately gave him a call.

He was laughing hysterically from the other end of the phone. He questioned why Luo Tianyuan, who was very wealthy, was still so frugal when it came to buying a car.

However, as his best friend, he also knew where he was coming from. This call was merely to poke at him, after all, he was running all over the place for Tianyuan despite being a prominent figure himself.

Luo Shuyan’s expression was very stiff and she walked like a zombie all the way to the living room.

Luo Tianyuan saw his daughter and hurriedly hung up the phone. “Talk to you next time, Shuyan has something to tell me.”

Song Qianjin replied, “Sure, I’ll be visiting next month and I’ve bought a lot of presents for my precious niece. I’m sure she’ll like them!”

After hanging up, Luo Tianyuan noticed Luo Shuyan’s defeated expression and anxiously asked, “Oh no, what happened? Are you not feeling well?”

Luo Shuyan slowly raised her head and stuttered, “Pa, Papa, did you really buy a car?”

Luo Tianyuan was taken aback for a moment and nodded. “That’s right, didn’t I let you know in the morning?”

She thought that he was just kidding! He spoke about it so easily, who would’ve thought that he was being serious?!

Luo Shuyan was sweating cold sweat. “140,000 Yuan… We don’t have the money!”

She was aware about their finances. Back when she was a baby, Grandpa and Grandma Luo would talk about their finances while feeding her because they naturally assumed that she wouldn’t understand. They mentioned that they have around CNY10,000 in their savings account after working their entire life for it. To be fair, that was a decent sum in comparison to other families.

So, what did her father mean by CNY140,000?! They couldn’t possibly have that much money to spare!

Luo Tianyuan let out a silent sigh.

He had a few reasons as to why he was acting poor.

First off, he wasn’t extremely confident about his power within the industry. There were many businessmen who’ve traveled to the South of China and were successful with their businesses. Howevever, based on his observations, the richer you became, the more dangerous your life would become. You may be targeted.

Before his parents’ death, he’d promised them that he’d allow his daughter to have a happy and peaceful childhood.

Secondly, he hasn’t been able to find anyone else other than Shen Qingruo to take care of his daughter. Even before knowing of his wealth, nannies would take advantage of their family. So, if he were to let people know of his true net worth, he had no confidence that he’d be able to find someone who’d care for his daughter wholeheartedly. If they were to hurt his daughter, no matter what he did later on, the damage would’ve already been done.

Shen Qingruo was only willing to stay in Ning City. He understood where she was coming from. She didn’t want to be the center of gossip and hate, especially if her son would be involved.

The third reason was because two years ago, he’d became acquainted with a wealthy businessman. The wealthy businessman spoilt his son and caused him to become a problematic child. Luo Tianyuan hoped for his daughter to live a simple life and he’d gradually let her know about their actual financial standing as time went by.

His only wish was for his precious little daughter to be happy and blessed.

Due to the reasons mentioned above, Luo Tianyuan decided to hide all this from his daughter. He put up a very good front, and Luo Shuyan also naturally believed her father’s words.

That was why till this day, no one had figured out his true identity.

Luo Tianyuan came up with a perfect reason for the purchase of his car that even his colleagues would not question. He looked at his daugther’s chubby face and slowly said, “I’ve been doing well in the company for the past two years and I received a 20,000 Yuan bonus. Your grandparents also left us around 10,000 Yuan. I added in a little savings from different accounts and managed to make a 40,000 Yuan downpayment.”

“As for the remaining 100,000 Yuan… I’ve discussed with Aunty Shen a few days ago. I’ll be selling the apartment to her. She’ll be taking out a loan to pay me a downpyment of around 50,000 to 60,000 Yuan… And for the remaining 40,000… Papa will find a way to borrow some money from friends.”

Luo Tianyuan’s actual agreement was to accept 20% as downpayment and for Shen Qingruo to slowly payoff the rest. However, to keep up the act, he decided to tell everyone else that Shen Qingruo’s bank was willing to give her a loan.

Shen Qingruo also agreed with his idea. She couldn’t imagine how nasty the comments would be if other people were to find out about their actual agreement.

Luo Tianyuan was satisfied. He figured that the reason he’d given was perfect. However, Luo Shuyan almost fainted in anger —

‘Our apartment is gone!!!’
