65 The Auction Starts

When the auction started, Su Xun and Xi Wan sat in the front row and the two of them sat there without saying a word.

The atmosphere could be described to be as cold as an ‘ice cellar’.

The people in the back row did not dare to speak too much. After all, there were still two big shots sitting in front of them. If they dared to open their mouths and say a word, they would probably have to suck in a mouthful of cold air in the next second.

The auctioneer had never seen such a quiet auction and was surprised. When he looked up, he saw the cold and indifferent couple sitting at the front. He was so scared that he almost dropped the gavel in his hand.

It was no wonder why all the guests were so quiet today!

The auctioneer’s voice subconsciously softened, “Next up is the first auction item of the day…”

The entire auction was going on in an orderly manner but Xi Wan was not very interested in these items. She would only take a few more glances when she saw something nice.

However, her behavior was also noticed by people with intentions.

Several businessmen were competing to bid for the treasures and they were blindly trying to raise the price. Xi Wan only listened quietly as they continued to increase the price, competing for something that was not worth that much.

In the end, Xiao Zhe also joined in the battle, raising his sign and continuously raising the price.

However, unlike that group of people who were fighting for the treasures to offer them to Xi Wan in order to please Su Xun, Xiao Zhe was really buying things because he really wanted to please Xi Wan.

At some point, the system had woken up from its hibernation. It could not help but sighed when it looked at the situation before it. [I didn’t expect that you will gain benefits by following the antagonists. Just look at these businessmen, they are all buying these things to give them to you as gifts.]

Xi Wan’s eyes brightened at the sight of money. “Is that so? It seems that I’ll have to attend more banquets with Su Xun in the future. Wouldn’t I be rich if I can receive these gifts whenever I attend a banquet?”

The system could not stand her attitude. [You’re really worthless. How can you be won over by a few rare small objects?]

Xi Wan said, “In principle, it’s impossible but I think I can really be bribed if these things are placed in front of me.”

As she was chatting with the system, an auction item suddenly appeared. It was a fiery red jade bracelet.

The auctioneer slammed the gavel down and said, “This item is a high quality southern red jade bracelet. The starting price is 800,000!”

Xi Wan stared at the bracelet. The longer she looked at it, the longer the group of people increased the price. It was not until someone finally raised the bid to eight million that the bidding stopped.

“Eight million once! Eight million twice! Eight million thrice! Sold!” Before the auctioneer could finish his sentence, Xi Wan spoke up, “This isn’t jade but it’s agate, right?”

As soon as these words came out, the audience fell silent.

The auctioneer was also very puzzled. “Mrs. Su, what are you saying? This is a southern red jade bracelet, so how can it be agate?”

Xi Wan raised her chin and gestured for everyone to look at the bracelet. She said, “The color isn’t crystal clear enough, and if you look closely, there are also impurities. It’s obviously not jade but it’s southern red agate that looks like southern red jade.”

As soon as she said that, the auctioneer was also a little indecisive.

He said apologetically, “I’m sorry, I’ll ask the organizer to confirm the authenticity of this item again. I hope everyone can be patient.”

With that said, he went down with the bracelet.

Su Xun turned his face to the side and sized Xi Wan up from the corner of his eye. He did not expect that she would have done some research on gemstones.

Xi Wan noticed Su Xun’s gaze and said with a smile, “Chairman Su, if you want to look at me, you can just look at me openly. I’m your wife, don’t tell me you’re embarrassed to look at me?”

Su Xun instantly retracted his gaze and paused before saying, “I didn’t expect you to be so well-versed in this area.”

Xi Wan explained, “I don’t really know much about it. I’ve just read a similar science magazine before and happened to run into this today.”

Su Xun stopped talking and the guests in the back row also remained silent. They were all waiting for the final test results of the bracelet.

Not long after, the auctioneer returned, along with the organizer and a gray-haired middle-aged man. He was wearing a pair of presbyopia glasses and looked like he was in his eighties or nineties.

The auctioneer introduced, “This is Luo Shun, the professional appraisal master we’ve invited.”

Luo Shun followed the organizer up onto the stage. His sharp eagle-liked eyes swept across the audience as he asked, “Who said that this isn’t made out of jade?”

Xi Wan raised her hand and said, “I did!”

Luo Shun looked in the direction of the voice and his glasses almost fell to the ground. He had thought that it was some professional team that had come to cause trouble but he did not expect it to be such a young girl.
