「…………」

Hallim didn’t make a move right away. He seemed to be pondering what move he should take. That said, Inglis had a pretty good idea of his next move. It should be the Highlanders’ unique sorcery that transferred people into a subspace.

Although it was similar to the effect of Leone’s black greatsword Artifact, said sorcery had a higher function compared to her Gift that simply created a subspace and isolated or evacuated its user and other people around her. There are particles within Highlander subspace that inhibit the movement of mana and neutralize Artifacts.

It was precisely because of that power that the Highlanders were not afraid to spread Artifacts all around the Midland. Even if Midland Knights attempted to use Artifacts to go against them, they would be able to neutralize them and strike back.

Faris, Rahal’s father who wasn’t a Highlander at birth, had used said sorcery before. That meant Hallim should be able to do it too. It was supposed to be a trump card for the Highlanders, but it wouldn’t be surprising for Hallim to resort to it out of the blue after he sensed Inglis’ strength.

And Inglis, personally, welcomed it. After all, she could fight without worrying about the damage on the surrounding buildings if they were in the subspace. Not to mention, Rafinha and the girls’ Artifacts would no longer function, so Inglis could have the enemies all to herself.

Now, hurry up and drag me into the subspace, I’ll fight all of you myself.

Inglis looked at Hallim full of expectation, and yet…

「……Go!」

Halim waved his hand and directed his underlings towards her. Did he intend to evaluate her or was she still being looked down on by him? It didn’t matter. That only meant she could relish the fight as long as possible.

His underlings were soldiers with a headpiece that covered their entire head, making their expressions unreadable. They looked similar to the big slave man that Rahal brought with him to Ymir. One would wonder if they, too, were slaves the Highlanders brought for protection.

Either way, two of the mute soldiers turned the bow of their Flygears towards Inglis and co. in response to Hallim’s command.

Kerchink!

A number of thick steel spikes appeared from the front of the Flygear’s hull. Spikes used for charging attacks, it seemed.

「I see…Quite the nasty weapon, aren’t they?」

With the speed and the weight of an entire Flygear, those spikes would skewer through their target. If those were to hit people with no power whatsoever, they would be helpless. Hallim and his men must have used them to lay waste to many towns. Evident with how those spikes were stained red with dried blood.

「Blood! How many innocent lives have they taken with those!? Unforgivable!」

「You’re right, Rafinha! It’s actually a good thing we were found here, after all!」

「Indeed! Now we can stop them from hurting more people!」

Rafinha, Leone, and Liselotte were aggravated. All three of them were as righteous as they were kindhearted. They were not the kind of girls who could stand by and watch as those without power were oppressed.

And that was not a bad thing. They might act recklessly because they were still young, or they might make mistakes because they misjudged, but if they didn’t retain that disposition deep within their heart, they wouldn’t become good Knights. They wouldn’t be able to protect and guide people.

For that reason, whilst Inglis Eux had purposely left sympathy beyond her in her current life, she still respected Rafinha and the two for being angry for the sake of the other nation’s people, people they had nothing to do with.

Nevertheless, it would be a little bit inconvenient for Inglis if they get too worked up now. Naturally, that was because the number of enemies she could face would decrease if they do. It would have been great if they could switch places to the subspace now so that she could have all the enemies to herself.

However, Inglis’ wish wasn’t granted, as the power unit of their Flygears roared to life. They accelerated furiously and came rushing at Inglis at full speed. It was a ramming attack that took advantage of the high speed and mass of the Flygear.

They were leaning so far forward that, should Inglis evade them, they would definitely crash into the ground or buildings, showing that they were ready to throw their lives away.

「……?! If we evaded that, they’d end up killing themselves!」

「Rani, everyone, fall back!」

Rafinha and the others scattered in response to Inglis’ shout. Whilst Inglis herself was standing in place, unmoving. Now they could only target her. In other words, she bagged the situation all for herself. She was thankful for how reckless her opponents made their move.

And then, speaking of the self-destroying ramming attack, it was indeed the correct move to use against Inglis.

After all, Inglis never had the intention to evade her opponents’ attacks whatsoever.

An attack is meant to be met head-on!

「Hyaaah!」

Inglis reached to the incoming Flygears and caught them directly, one hand each, stopping their advance completely.

VWOOoooooommm!

The Flygears, which had been forcefully stopped from their maneuver, let out a higher-pitched machine noise as though they were shrieking.

「Quite the drive! Not bad at all!」

It was just the right amount of load for her bare body without Ether Armor activated. It would have been a great exercising menu if they could throw in two, three more Flygears in the mix. And fortunately, they still had plenty of them flying up there. Perhaps it wouldn’t be a bad idea to bring all those Flygears down and put a contest of strength with them.

「Impossible?! Wh-, where did those strength come from?! She’s just like Lady Tiffany!」

Hallim couldn’t hide his surprise.

「But still, I’m afraid two are still not quite enough!」

As Inglis applied more force, the two Flygears were completely lifted up horizontally, effectively stealing their movement.

Perhaps doing so messed up some parts of them, strange sounds began to emanate from within their machine chambers.

「Gentlemen, please don’t feel reserved to pitch in. I, for one, would never call being outnumbered a cowardly tactic. After all, don’t you think the more opponents there are to fight, the better?」

Inglis prompted the enemy soldiers with her most gentle, ladylike smile.

Were that an invitation to dance or dine, they would be delighted to be offered by such a beauty, but it was a different story altogether if that smile was accompanied by the sight of two high-caliber Flygears being tipped over. In fact, in the eyes of Hallim, Inglis’ beauty only gave him an odd and unfathomable sense of dread.
